Question about NDA - Videos on Youtube

shadout00shadout00 Member Posts: 253

I am kind of unsure about this topic so I thought I'd ask the community...

Am I allowed to post a video of gameplay on Youtube? I know the game is still in beta but I am not sure if this will violate the NDA. Can anybody help? I have seen some videos but the search is so limited, I am unsure if that is due to the NDA or the lack of videos posted.

There is often videos of unreleased games, but they are approved videos or videos released by the developer.

You have to read the NDA to see what it allows, there is nobody here that wil lknow what the NDA is without reading it.

I thought i did read in a post some where that RIFT/TRION doesn't care, they relish the publicity, but that one or few peeople might have been talking out of context, and don't really know what the NDA allows.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

NDA means you dont tell other people that you are there or anything that happens there. So yeah, no videos or postings of any kind. In fast technically just saying that you have videos of yourself playing is breaking NDA :)

Are you asking if it's ok to post a link to a video on youtube?  Or if it would break the NDA for you to post, on youtube, a video of gameplay?  The two questions are different, and have different answers.  #1 would be a maybe, it depends on where the gameplay is from, and how tough the mods here are on borderline issues.  #2 would almost certainly be no, unless you had like a handycam shot of the game being played at a convention or something.

Great, thank you. I haven't recorded anything but I just wanted to know as I am into the youtube community and wanted to spread the word.  Thanks for the quick replies.

You can't. No vids, no screenies, no comments, no revies, nothing, maybe you shouldn't even say you are in beta.

Yes you are allowed to post a video online, but you agree that you break the NDA and your chances at further beta testing.

There are plenty of videos on Youtube that violate the NDA.

Remember that people who violate the NDA can do this without repercussions whatsoever, because NDA are not part of state laws at all. On the contrary, someone who would take your right away to post videos, would be the one violating state laws.

Someone doing the recording is also often not the person who signed the NDA, or they found the video somehwere else and put it on their channel. Youtube isn't goint to take NDA videos down and they never have because they are not copyright protected.

    Collector's editions are scams.

Yes all video recordings of video games are allowed on youtube. You should tape all your activities including but not limited to

    1. The GUI

    2.  dungeon experiances

    3. PvE

    4. Rifts

    5. any crafting

    6. character login and loading screens

    7. trips you take exploring

    8. questing

Be sure to give narrative as well so that we can get a play by play of the events as they unfold.
