Last patch the revamped the UI visually.  A few days before that patch the chat system broke.  The chat system they work on server side,  so you'll see it can sometimes fluctuate mid game.

Lots of the / commands aren't in yet,  but they're getting there.  Not sure what to expect as far as the menu system is concerned,  but it does need work.  The devs constantly tell us there are lots of things that are just not implemented yet, but they have no listing of what these are nor do they have a known bugs list so we know that they acknowledge our problems.

Been playing the ps3 version for the past 2hrs, have to admit i'm impressed (but still not sold on it yet).

The only knocks aggainst it so far is the menu's are a bit tedious to navigate through and very hard to read, and there is little direction as to where to go, what everything does, and how to setup/use certain key features (doesn't help I went flying through the insanely huge city first and got lost within the first 10min haha).

Besides that it's been a blast, ps3 version is more populated than expected too.

There is no mouse targetting and the navigation is sucky. I am not used to this type of game will take me time to get used to it. I like to mouse turn and stuff this upsets me the way the game handles.

In the options you can apply the auto lock which will auto target the character your camera is most focused on.  However,  if you want to break the lock without killing the target you have to tap TAB, and then your camera will refocus.  Just something you can toy with.

There's some serious bs from mmorpg.com that this is a NA only beta, fileplanet gave away keys to anyone even if you were from kuwait or sweden. Please don't give away keys to only NA unless it is an NA only beta next time.

"ok i guess mississippi is no longer a country in north america"

Hate to break it to you, but Mississipi was never a country in north america

Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling"
Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.

God I went nuts and just used left mouse right mouse space bar and then shift which I bound to the mouse control on the side and I went to town. I enjoyed it but may be at most an hour at a  time I cannot play this game for long. The clicking will kill my mouse and fingers got tired.

Anyone want to clue me in on how to play not so frantically.I was surrounded I panicked and hit my left and right like mad.I was martial arts with a summoned head by my side. That head was good support.

I have a problem, I downloaded the game but, when I am done with updating it says you don’t have enough space but I have

  • EladiEladi Member UncommonPosts: 1,145

The trick to calmly playing is not to panic :P , you can click all you like but all weapons have a attack speed. some faster , some slower.  so at newb whit no combo's yet you stand in the empty room and check out the left adn right mouse button to see waht it does. in case of staffs left seems to be a faster move the then right mouse.  test it on the first guard mob , and yup..left is faster basic bang, adn right seems slower and push it a little backwards.

ok lets kill it.  no need to push it so .Click....Click...Click..  - not clickclickclickclick.

depending how long you stand around watching the designs you learn your first super power a bit later. easy enoug, just press 1  or 2..or 3 whatver sloth it is in.  and your first "combo" move comes after that.  usaly for melee types either a lunge attack  (hold down the mouse button for 1 sec then release) or a interrubt attack. (basic attack that disables special moves from mobs)

mutch later you get the longer combos.  and its not frantic clickclickclickclick.  but more like.

click...Click and hold, Click.Click-hold release. takes some time to get used to but it comes fairly natural.  its waht i can say about all powers/movement.  it all feels odd at start but you get used to it fairly fast and then it gets quite fun whitout the need of "how i do that!" mindbreakers.

Now if I only could log back in... beta bugs, uch..hate them :P

SOE is totally trashing this game. how can they make it $15 a month? SOE must be smoking something if they think they can compete with WoW. Give me a break, this game is such low quality that it should be shot down right now and probably will once SOE starts losing money after the first month.

Aside from slightly prettier graphics and a crappy console / PC hybrid control system, it's nothing new to the superhero market. To be blunt, I don't expect a whole when it comes to SOE, but this game is even lazy for their standards.

    couldn't be more incorrect.

Saying I'm incorrect is completely different than stating why I'm incorrect. Aside from AoC style combat and slightly prettier graphics, what is so drastically new and innovative? As I said, it's 80% similar to CO, not 100%.

    1) The combat system and physics combat far exceeds anything CO is capable of. Run up walls, turn players into usable objects, interact with the environment in a robust manner that CO could never muster.  An actual combat system that isn't just "hold down one for a charge shot!".

    2) A skill system on top of a power system.  Each with its own level of progression.  Skills can be earned separate from your regular leveling.

    3) An exploration system in areas that are actually worth exploring.  Get new costume pieces,  learn about the world and the people in it.  Find the areas you've only seen in the comics and the movies and interact with them.

    4) Visual progression that can actually be changed with ease without a cost, at any time,  and relies on being able to complete certain tasks to achieve said gear.

    5) Voice over work thats done by professionals that people know as the actual characters in question like Kevin Conroy as Batman and Mark Hamil as the Joker.  Amazing cinematics that delves deeper into the story of the characters you interact with on the completion of every large mission.

    6) Actual PvP,  heroes against villains, as it should be.  Fight in the open world,  fight in the arenas.  Play as Batman,  Joker, Bane and others in Legends PvP.

    7) The powers are few,  but are relatively balanced.  Each new power you receive in a set is different and altogether useful if you know what you're doing and how to use the power effectively.  If you think the gadgets pull is the same as wonder womans lasso, then you're doing it wrong.  If you think the acrobatics lunge attack is the same as your weapon interrupt,  then you're doing it wrong.

::edit:: because you said this game plays like AoC.  If you're playing the game like AoC..... you're doing it wrong.

Those are just a few off the top of my head. I'm sure others can think of some as well.

    1. Those 2 points(wallrunning and throwing people) I would not classify them as far ahead, and the throwing people can be easily abusive.

    2. Without the skill system DCUO would be too dull, skills >> powers in this game. Over 2/3 of the time is about launching combos or just getting energy back.  Btw, is my impression or the cool powers has an excessive cooldown, I am asking sincerely because it looks to me like an hour of cooldown for some powers (pls, pointers for fire/brawler tank :P). I am getting a hold of the combo system, at the begginning I rolled a mental/hand blaster but the combos in hand blasting are kind of difficult for me, brawling has shown to me to be friendlier.

    3. Environmetally is huge and I have to agree with that. Not much to the gain costume pieces stuff by gear, pretty uninspiring for hero design imho.

    4. Many people argue that CoX does not have gear, but the enhacements are the gear, the same way that CO gear, the difference is mainly the stats that are used. Gear progression is present in CO and CoX the only thing is that is not crucial for endgame viability, i.e. that you don't need to gear in a raid for the next raid. Most gearing is either for pvp or for making easier to clear endgame content. Not sure, how is the gear progression in DCUO, is it wow style?

    5. True

    6. In other thread I commented on the movement in wow pvp from world pvp to instance pvp, although this game is more button quickness dependent on statistical basis the problems with ganking will still be similar, so I would say that most of pvp will be instanced.

    7. Sorry to say, but this is a huge weakness of DCUO, powers are so limited, they might be balanced but so it is autoattack and it does not mean that they should be simplified that way. Imho they went so overboard with skills that essentially powers are mostly to do the support functions and a few nukes. It might change in the endgame but so far(lvl15) what I am doing is giving combo punches and a few aoes with my fire powers.

I have to say that DCUO has new and refreshing ideas, but they went too far to try to make it into a ninja gaiden online and not a mmorpg, which is fine but a little killer for some players. The other thing is that the character model is limited, while you can put a lot of cool pieces, the actual variation is far behind from the other 2 games. While the missions are numerous and nice they are too structured and similar to get old a little quicker that it should, a little randomizer would have wonders for the game.

must just be a hardcore Marvel fan for such rationalizing....

Must be hardcore DC fan for classifying people by their comic fandom.

What? its a super hero theme MMO, it has no competition with WOW. I don't know what is SOE smoking but you lay off whatever drugs you are on bud!

Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?

If anyone has a PC Key and wants to trade for a PS3 Key lemme know I managed to snag a PS3 key in hopes I could get a PC one in turn.

  • NameWasTakenNameWasTaken Member Posts: 132

Damn!! No more PC keys are left. :(

  • ZharZhar Member UncommonPosts: 58

Anyone willing to give me a PC key in exchange for a PS3 key?

  • dbumandbuman Member Posts: 19

from what ive seen in the game, it has a solid base. the graphics are optimized, not like ffxiv or CO.

comparing this game to a fantasy genre MMO is not viable.

This is a superhero MMO, which gives players the ability to take part in DC Lore.

Gameplay feels solid enough, all they need is enough missions, bigger skill trees, more skill types and power sets, mentors, and the game will be golden by release.

Unashamed beg... if anyone has a spare key please mail me?:)

  • corpusccorpusc Member UncommonPosts: 1,341

it can't be properly compared to most other MMOs.....

    because its an ACTION game.

NOT because its a superhero game.

the other superhero games are for the most part just standard MMORPGs with spandex  (superhero themed dice rolling combat, etc.).

Mississippi was never a country in North America. Mississippi is a state.
