DC Universe Online: Release Date Rumor

According to Amazon.com, the release date for DC Universe Online is slated for January 11, 2011. While no official word has been given from Sony Online and the DCUO dev team, we suspect that an official date will be forthcoming quite soon. In the meantime, Amazon.com is taking preorders for both the PC and PS3 versions of the game.

Strange. The release date is the 11th. Yet I have 1 day shipping, that one day should be the 11th, but my delivery date is the 13th.
I really like this game but it's not anywhere near ready to be released. Unless they release a patch within the next few weeks to fix the multitude of bugs.
just a few of the bugs encountered on the ps3 version can get under your skin. Constant freezing forcing you to restart your console. Lag during the timed races wich causes you to lose. the hold O to activate items, enter/exit buildings sticking or just not working in some areas. Missing hubs during some of the tour missions. Criminal npc's unable to be attacked. I could go on but to be honest if they could just fix these it would be a great improvement.
Based on what the devs have said on the official boards, I'd say there is at least one major patch (likely two) to be released soon.

Only three websites list that date. Every other site lists a different one, ranging from February to March to Q1 to no date at all.
This is in all likelihood a way to sell more preorders before the holidays end.
Ummm. Amazon has been taking pre-orders ever since SOE announced who gets what. MONTHS.
And I really hope they're not going to try to launch DCUO in the state it's currently in. They still need to add a ton of tool-tips or tutorials. I've heard content is light during the later levels so I think they really need to push back on the release date for at least 6 months.
Agreed that they've been taking preorders for months. However, the January 11th date just cropped up on Friday.

PC version isn't great either bug wise. Icons disappearing, costume options not usable at times, can't even log in without doing some file clearing each and every time.. ie the World Not Availible bug.. just not being able to tailor your costume colors after creation seems like a bug to me after playing the other superhero games. There's not nearly enough power sets to choose from, costume options are sadly limited. 3 body shapes per sex and no decent facial options.. different expressions.. same face..
Gameplay is kind of fun.. but I can see it being a lot better on the PS3 as far as that goes.. my mouse was not made for rapid clicking..
Maybe I'm too lenient but I can get bugs. I understand that they have difficulty coding every single string to be performed the SAME WAY EVERY TIME. I understand that, what has a leg up is the difference in game play. The action (clicky) system seems TO ME preferable than an auto attack. It allows some skill to be implemented.
I see that AMAZON posted their dates but a quick check of Steam, Direct2Drive, Gamestop and the like still have random (if any) dates in February.

Just received my email from Amazon. States new release date for CE version is now January 18-20.

If this is true, that puts release at less than one month away.
Why hasn't SOE made an official announcement on their web site?

It makes me sad that retailers can write whatever release date they want on their sites. Many of them get release dates from other sites which were just made-up by a bigger site like Amazon. When that day comes and the game doesn't get released, the retailers that lied will still have plenty of pre-orders that didn't get canceled, and make more profit than if they had not lied about the release date.
The only release date that should be believed is the one released in a press release from the publisher.
Amazon Germany has it for the same date. Tho the price of 52 Euro is QUITE expensive for a PC MMO.

I have been trying the game in Beta and so far I would say it is not ready for the PC at this time. I have a number of connection issues, failing to connect to the world is the most common and disconnection issues. Controls need a bit of work and seems a but sluggish in it's responses. The drift when flying can get a bit anoying. I hope that they have a patch to fix all that out soon or I may have to pass on the initial release and wait till a few bug patches are out.
Gamestop has its release date as February 15th, and thats close to what I would expect, though with the recent patch schedule, I don't think the game will be ready even by february 15th. With the last large patch it broke a number of other things (as many patches do) and that was about a couple weeks ago. One patch every two to three weeks puts their schedule for testing these fixes and features, well ... nowhere near the 11th of next month, and thats if they patched this week --> AND if it cured the major stability issues.
January release? Thats suicide at this point. We would have to truly see a miracle patch.
I think Febreuary sounds more ideal. Still bugs in the game but nothing that they won't be able to fix. They finally got the mics to work which i find to be a huge incentive for me to buy the ps3 version.

No finished UI (if about 50% done) no finished chat system (10% done?) no bank, no action house, no tailor, high "warning" tread post count on Beta forums about various game mechanics. Highly unstable PvP , infact pvp servers as it is now would die right after the first free 30 days.
Indeed, the PC version is NOT ready, nor is it 3 weeks out from being ready. Controls are still whacked, all too easy to fall through the world and there's not even an /unstick yet. You have to use a warp to rally point or HQ (which has cooldowns) to get unstuck...and to find that out you have to do some digging through the forums to find out. I had a guy stuck for like a day.
Game is not at all ready yet for Jan release. Imminent failure ahead.

Eh.. not sure what you mean about the PvP being unstable, its actually extremely balanced, fun, and the PvP server has a ton of players. There will be no tailor because you don't need a tailor to change costume pieces. They will be adding other vendors to change your colors. Skin and hair vendors are in the watchtower and by star labs.
The chat system is housed server side and they've fixed much of it over this weekend. The only thing they still need to do is add the / commands and fix the coloring issue. Most of the group chat problems have been squeezed out. The UI needs work, but not telling how they'll go about all of the complaints, some of them are good complaints, others are from MMO players thats just don't understand how to play an action game. Weeding those out might not be so easy.
I think they could have the game ready by march, late february if they increase the patch schedule.
Getting a release date from a distributor is like playing Russion Roulette with a gun with 100 chambers. You have few chances that it will be the actual one.
As a fan of DCUO there is just no way it will be ready in less than a month. Maybe March if they put in a big effort. I like the game but i won't pay to play a beta at release if its January.
Cool if its true, I would be really happy if it will come out on the 11th of Jan.
Its probably a place holder if, the devs didnt release the date themselves. Its exactly what Gamestop and the rest of the distributors did when they had GW2 to be released on Nov 23 of this year. Though I could be completely wrong and Amazon just released the date before they were supposed to.
