Is there one? I've never seen a game so close to lauch and accepting pre-orders that doesn't have a faq on its website explaining these kind of details or maybe I missed it?

Yes. Standard $15 monthly subscription. However, the devs are promising monthy updates for your money. We will see. I will believe that when it happens.
Yup. $15.

Thanks for the info. I was really hoping Sony was moving away from the $15 monthly fees on their new mmos to something more like purchasable mission packs or paid expansions.
This hasn't been confirmed but theres a big thread about this on the beta forums that the developers said they'll be looking into. Most of it revolves around decreasing the monthly fee to stay competitive. Most people are wanting it to go down to 9.99 a month, then have a 14.99 option too which would cover some "station cash" to buy any microtransactional items they may add in the future. Some think a mild reduction such as 12.99 wouldn't be a bad idea.
Most of that beta forum talk is about how the game isn't worth a subscription fee. I think that is why soe is taking so much notice.
I think it has some neat concepts that are fun for a while, but overall the game lacking in content and gameplay. If this game launches in the current shape it is in January as a subscription based mmo, I fully expect there to be a massive dropoff around the 1-2 month mark.
Good info!
But, they announced the $14.99 back in July. While I agree that $9.99 would be perfect, with a ship date in early January, I simply don't see it being lowered no matter what the beta players think of it. Not to knock SoE, but player feedback on their fees is something they really don't seem to care about. I'll bet it launches at $14.99.
Its possible, but the developers did post in the thread saying they are taking particular interest in the responses to the thread and these were the few possible solutions everyone seemed to agree with. We'll see what happens.
I think 9.99 could prob get them double the subscribers that 15 would, maybe even 3 or 4x as many.
I think you're right. What's with the 15$ thing anyway? How come every mmo uses this? Even those who can barely survive ask you the same fee as the succesful mmos.
I completely agree.
Players all seem to agree, it's a FUN game...but $15 a month means you need to be the BEST in your genre (an MMO). With the addition of PS3 they have a larger base too...$9.99 gives this game the best chance of survival beyond 30-60 days.
I tend to agree, something about paying fifteen bucks a month for this game is a bit of a turn off, I could see paying around 9.99 though and think that would be fair for what they are giving so far.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
I'd honestly not want to pay a monthly fee at all for this really.
9.99 a month + some station cash in whatever doses MAYBE.
Still $15.00 is pretty cheap for monthly entertainemnt but I agree that $10.00 is the best thing long term for them. Also they will be adding DLC to the game over time.
I have always found it funny that some get caught up in what they pay for a monthly fee for a game. Everyone would love a free to play game that is polished and plays as well as a pay to play game, but there is a reason some games are pay to play and some are free or have gone to some type of free model.

Curious...
How much "interest" can they really have at this point in what the players feel is fair? If the game releases January 11th, how long do you think it takes to burn DVD's, print DVD's, wrap DVD's, print DVD cover sheets (which usually state the fee), bulk pack these and ship them all across the country so that YOUR Walmart has these on January 10th?
Thinking more about this just confirms to me that no matter what people in beta 'want' and no matter how many posts you read about "how interested they are in our opinion" of a fair price, it will be $14.99/ month. If it weren't, they could grab some easy publicity by announcing it lower.
Actually they can get the DVD's and Blu-Rays done in a matter of a couple of days. the covers usually take a day depending on what printer they go to. It is not how it used to be to mass copy games.

Thats why I'm saying its not official, but being on the beta forums quite a bit, when they respond to a thread, it usually means they are really taking note of it.
For example, the thread on PvP flagging, they said pretty much the same thing, and sure enough, it was changed on the next patch. It was something they responded to specifically that they were "surprised by the community response" and made a change they didn't expect to have to make.
Now a minor game feature is different then their revenue, but we may see an SOE turn around. I think we're still at least a month or two from launch, unless they rush it terribly. I'll be sure to let everyone know what I see in the next patch, and if I hear anything more about the change in price I'll let everyone know.
It looks like most retailers are updating the release date to January 11th and citing the new release date being set by the developer.
I know what most retailers are saying, but the game will not be ready in january. Like I posted earlier Gamestop shows it as february 15th : http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=77612 : which I'm hoping they end up doing instead.
Judging from the amount of beta users they are letting in daily, it only stands to reason they will try for a january 11th release, but understand, theres a big chance I would reconsider purchasing this game unless there is a tremendous amount of improvement over what we're currently seeing. Mechanically its passable, as far as game mechanics, but stability wise the game is atrocious.
With their current patch schedule and the way the last 2 patches have gone, this game will never be ready in time for the 11th. From someone who really likes the game, they have some work ahead of them.
Take champions online and put dcuo with it and it would be the best mmo genre of its kind, and worth the $15 a month. I canceled my pre order. I don't see this game living past 3 months and i think SOE think they can push a unfinished game out and put the rest of the powers in after launch. When will game makers learn.
I have been in the beta for a few weeks now and have to say I am not sure I will actually be buying this game. I preordered the Collectors Ed. but the game has some serious flaws.
The Character creator is very bad. Only 3 body types (small, medium and, OMG I am so big I have no neck!) and very little content to outfit your character with. The CC is horrid imo compared to just about every other game out there. Only 3 color pallett and you can't control the costume parts colors.
Some basic power set will not be in release...there is speculation they will be added later. I tried to create just a simple character that was super strong and hard to hurt (a big dumb brick)...can't make one. That is right, a simple metahuman can't be made. They have to be either Fire, Ice, Gadget, Mental, Plant, or Magical based.....no Electricity, no Earth, Water (unless you want to count ice), no energy, no light (which means no green lanters) ect. ect. In fact, you can't make a Superman, Black Lightning, Aquaman, and a slew of other styled characters because the powers aren't even there.
This game's controls are geared for the PS3 and not the PC. You are restricted to 6 hot keys for powers and to perform combo moves require insane button action....tap left mouse 9 times and hold right mouse 1 time type things. There isn't any camera follow that I have been able to find to if you are using the mouse, you care constantly changing your view trying to do the combo move frantic button clicks.
The overall UI in a pain because you can't do anything with the menu open. Can't change powers out in your hot bar in combat, and alot of that stuff is buried 4-5 layers deep in the menus anyway.
Buggy...contant lockups, feature that don't work half the time, and falling through the world are only some of the issues they will need to iron out.
The game play is fun, but I can't make the characters I want because the options aren't even available in the game for the simplest characters. I certainly will not pay money to "settle" on what SOE has decided to offer. I might change my mind in a year after they have gotten content and stability up to par. The sad thing is, with COH and CO out, They had a chance to make a CC as good or better then they have and just fail miserablly.

Pretty much everything GT said, though there are 10X combos for staff and dual wield. They are very much so, not prudent in PvP, though the results are favorable. The reason behind this is because the attack speed is much quicker then other sets, but unfortunately the attack speed isn't quicker then the block speed, making them irrelevant in PvP. They still have some good combos otherwise though.
6 powers is a great idea in my opinion, it gives people the chance to really think about how they want to spec their character, and you don't have 30 powers on your bar most of which do the same thing with a different animation. You also can't change roles during combat and switch out your powers entirely, this keeps people from abusing the buffs for each role the way people would, had they been able to do that.
