First Action Combat MMO to Ship Day and Date for PC and PlayStation®3
SAN DIEGO – Dec. 21, 2010 - Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE) today announced that the highly anticipated online action game DC Universe ™ Online (DCUO), has reached gold master status and will be available at retail outlets worldwide on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and PC on January 11, 2011. DCUO, licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of DC Entertainment, will be the first online game based in the DC Universe, the first MMO on PlayStation 3, and the first time DC Universe Online will be accessible to the millions DC Universe fans.
“Creating DC Universe Online has been a massive undertaking, and we’re excited to be that much closer to launch,” said Christopher Cao, Game Director of DCUO for Sony Online Entertainment. ”We’re grateful to our beta players for providing us invaluable feedback in these final stages that has enabled us to put the finishing touches on a fun and exciting experience when the game launches in January.”
DC Universe Online will carry an anticipated retail price of US$59.99 for PlayStation 3 and US$49.99 for PC in North America. The game includes one 30-day game membership, with monthly subscriptions available thereafter for US$14.99. For customers playing the PC version of the game, DCUO will be included in SOE’s all-in-one Station Access subscription. Sony Online Entertainment expects to update the game regularly with new episodes featuring iconic DC Comics characters, new instances and major in-game events.
As a traditional action-based MMO that combines fast-paced, twitch-based combat with an interactive physics system to deliver a new and unique gameplay experience, DC Universe Online brings the DC Universe to life, allowing players to create their own superheroes - or villains - and join forces with their favorite DC Comics characters such as Superman , Batman and The Joker to aid in saving – or destroying – the universe.
DC Universe Online is rated T for Teen by the ESRB with the following content descriptors: Mild Blood, Mild Language, Mild Suggestive Themes and Violence. For more information about DC Universe Online, visitwww.DCUniverseOnline.com.

Normally i would say that they've killed the game by releasing so early (yes i know it's already delayed) but the team on it are dedicated to getting it right. They're making mistakes right now but they are working on every little thing in the game trying to make it better. And it is very apparent.
I am pretty happy it's coming soon, I like it now, I like what they have done and are doing to fix it, pricing plan is below

30. Same as it currently is in closed beta.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
Might be a cool game I will play with my 2 kids:-)
Because eventually Sony will not be offering online through their PS3.. Like when PS4 launches or w/e.. I know its a ways off but thats probably why their wont be a lifetime sub for ps3 users.
Currently Playing:
Rift + Starcraft II + Gears Of War 3 Beta
Cap is 20 in the current beta.
Writer / Musician / Game Designer
Now Playing: Skyrim, Wurm Online, Tropico 4
Waiting On: GW2, TSW, Archeage, The Rapture
You can get to 20 in a solid days gaming. Prolly hit 30 easy in a week. I was hoping they wouldn't release it untill they added some content, but it seems SoE is going to rush a game out the door to die .... again.
The "current" beta is the pre order beta. The closed beta servers are still up and the cap on those servers is 30.
Oh whaaa?

Really debating the lifetime sub, hoping we get the full 30 days free time to decide on it. I've played the beta and am having a blast with the game so that's not really an issue. I've only gotten one other lifetime sub (Lotro) and have no regrets on that. I've gotten my money's worth big time and go back whenever I feel like it. I don't know, it'll probably come down to whether or not I have $200 burning a hole in my pocket at decision time.
14.99 a month for PS3 users. Are these people serious? It will be a major failure numbers wise on PS3. I'll never pay subscription for video games and neither will most PS3 users. That is exactly why they purchase PS3 over X-box.
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha .............. dumb. In a couple months they'll be giving away all the dust covered copies on PS3.
anyone know if its cross server or pc and ps3 has their own seperate servers?
No discount for Playstation Plus members ?
They are seperate.
Cap is 30
Cap in CLOSED beta is 30
Cap in PREORDER beta is 20
They stated the release of a big solo endgame content patch prior to release.
Game does not end at cap similar to Guildwars.
They stated the anticipation of monthly content "Chapters" of story missions on top of content expansions/patches.
I agree that 15$ is a little hard to swallow for most PS3 users. I would gladly pay say... an extra 5 dollars a month to play both platforms if they were interactable between each other but this is not the case. Would have been nice to play on pc then go to a buddies house and play my same char on the PS3. But alas the balance issues made this not possible.
I'm PSYCHED for release gonna get my special edition on!!!!!!!
