Regarding Allods Online

i00x00ii00x00i Member Posts: 243

Let me just start off by saying that I have tried just about every MMORPG, pay and free to play, on the market. However, I've never played a free to play game with as much polish and fine tune as Allods Online. This is truly one of the best, if not the best; free to play games to date.

That being said, I feel like this game has so much potential to strive and be a definite competitor with today’s major MMO titles. Unfortunately, it was thrown into the wrong hands and is simply wasting away due to its incompetent publishers *cough, gpotato *cough. However, if the douche bags over at corporate can get their act together and develop a cash shop that doesn’t so blatantly force its players to use it, this game would soar to the top of the charts.

Most people go through life pretending to be a boss. I go through life pretending I'm not.

Im playing it. The cash shop isnt that bad IMO. I didnt like the idea of needing to use items to have my full damage. But seeing the price of them and the fact that they're 24 hr items, it seems alright. I dont have to spend to much to play. Ive seen alot worse when it comes to cash shops. My opinion my change as I advance. But as of right now id say its decent. Id love to see another company pick it up and have a subscription option parellel to the cash shop though. Since i probably wont buy any added storage options. Just fumble with the small space they give me. Im going to wait to start crafting untill I get closer to the top anyways.

As a F2P goes, i agree, its one of the better ones. But i think most people around here feel the same.

    True Story.

It gets much worse though, with the incense and 24 hour death effects that can only be cured with a cash shop item.

I just feel like this game has died so much since the first beta phases and its not getting any better. I'd hate to see such a great game go to waste.

Uhm.. there is no 24h death penalty.

you do realise you can get the 24h incense buff for free ingame.... every 24 hours.

There is also an option to get 5 PoPs/charm items (also daily) which prevent the death penalty. So, you can play with full damage, and have 5 "free" deaths a day.

Once you reach endgame there is a need to spend $10-15 for basic runes so that anyone will want you in group, but you can save ingame cash for that leveling to 40 without greater problems.

The cash shop is not this games problem right now, it's the fact that it requires you to grind for a full week after you run out of quests.

Sorry to barge in, but isn't this a good thing? Having so much quests that you need a week to complete them, instead of grinding a whole week for enough xp to move on to the next area?

    Just asking...

Better to be crazy, provided you know what sane is...

I meant, if you complete every quest ingame, grind all rep on the way to get gear, and generally be careful with XP, you will still need to log in with nothing to do but grind for a week before reaching the level cap.

I tried this game, and I did like it, but you know what?

I see many people in some other threads saying "I would play this if it was free to play". Well, I would play Allods if it was a subscription game! Funny, huh?

Yeah, let me pay a subscription and forget about the item mall. Do it like some other games, like Lotro, or like CO is about to do now, give me the option to subscribe so I don't need the item mall.

But, as long as I am not sure about how much money I am going to need to spend once I hit the high end... I am not interested.

Oh ok, understood. That's bad :)

I really liked Allods when I tried it, and I spent about 2 months playing, but then patch with cursed items came out, and few days after, I died and my blue 2H sword got cursed. Since I had another blue item (2H Axe) I replaced it and moved on... I died and that axe got cursed aswell, and I was out of weapon (nothing in AH to buy either...) I couldn't play as melle without my weapon so I had to quit the game...

Before the dreaded "expansion" this game was actualy very good.

Was part of a pretty big guild on teness, 10+ ships, including my own, we went out into the astral daily for weeks on end, had tons of fun, guild pvp @ aseeteph was a blast too, even if sometimes there were so many people there it was impossible to see who to heal, the smaller, say, 5v5 encounters were some of the best pvp ive been involved in.

Aaaaand then came the patch. Last i checked, almost the entire guild has quit, before we did though, we even had reps from gpot come onto our vent and talk with us about our concerns.. the thing that sucks most is gpot have almost zero input into the game, they pass on feedback.. but rarely anything is ever done about it, essentialy anything the russian version gets, even if has bad feedback on the russian side, the english version gets.

I see they have added daily quests for charms/incense now (according to an above poster), thats something we (and probably everyone else) asked them to add.

It WAS a great game and i could see, if you hadnt played it pre-patch, that you might think it still is great.. but for those of us that were playing before it, the game is essentialy dead.

Edit - In regards to the XP, to give people an idea, with the expansion, the amount of xp you needed to level increased HUGELY, i think from memory it was 5 to 6 times higher then it was previously and they did that to every level, without adding enough new quests for the lower levels to progress at anything like the old level and it wasn[object Window]t exactly fast to begin with.
