Guild Wars should stick to what it does best and that is Guild Wars.

Why? You still have all that and no one is forcing you to play world Vs world PvP. There are several kinds of PvP and you will choose the one that fit you best, that should be a good thing, not a bad one.

I imagine that W Vs W can be great fun, people did actually care in DaoC even if they cared little in Wow.. I mean WAR.

The more options a game have the more possibilities for fun and the longer the game will last. Sure some will play only Arenas or G Vs G but that is fine. As long as the game gets enough subs to keep all ways running I see no problem at all with this.

But it would be nice with some more official PvP info now.

No one is forcing me to do anything (in regards to gaming) but that is not the point. The point is that games need to excel in a few areas, not try to do everything which in the end will probably end up being half-assed.

I was really hoping for Guild Wars to continue building on the Guild Vs Guild PvP aspect, but as you say, very little official info has been released about it. And that is kinda alarming...

To be fair, Guild Wars 1 had the GvG combat really well figured out, in my opinion.  So, they don't need to spend as much time on that while developing GW2 as they did in GW1  - thus the extra time is spent upgrading PvE and instituting the World Combat.

Just because they haven't announced much about GvG doesn't mean it's not there, or it's going to suck.  They already had it be awesome and seriously competitive - a few touch ups here and there, and voila, the amazing game type returns.

As much as I am excited about this game, I am trying to block it out. The reality is that it seems so far away from release. Typically, a company would at least announce a quarterly time frame for release but all this "we'll release it when it's ready" thing is turn off. It can be Q4 2011 or Q4 2012. No one knows and the fans will be left hanging for quite some time.

Doesn't mean you need to block it out. It's good to keep an eye on it to ensure you don't make a mistake in buying it, information is not something to be afraid of.

We are watching the "dance of the 7 veils" as the marketing people throw one crumb of information  after the other to stimulate interest. For me this trail of crumbs has become far too long either by design or because the developers don't know where they are going . Either  way...for me...chasing after snippets of information  has reached the point of irritation.I'll tune in in 6 months and undoubtedly still find the tease still in under way.

Its not like they haven't given us info on anything at all, you pretty much know everything about the PvE side so I don't think waiting for more info on the PvP side should be a problem especially when they've said they are still working on it.

    This is not a game.

All I question here is why is there no lore for this, or have they implemented some? Mages in the GW2 world discovering other versions of their world in 'elsewhere'. Otherwise PvP will be very non immersive, one day you are on a solid lore quest the next fighting another 'server'.

They could be connected by 'rifts' or some such device <ahem> :)

GuildFans: We've experienced something of a plateau in information released recently. Is this just wind down from the hectic convention season, or is there another reason?

Eric: [...] The main thing however, is that we don’t have anything ready to announce at this time. When we release information we want to be very certain that everything we talk about is in the game and working up to a basic level such that we believe that we won’t have to make dramatic changes to it [...] That doesn’t mean that we haven’t worked on the remaining four professions, PvP, WvW, crafting, or underwater combat, just that we aren’t quite happy with where they’re at yet.

GuildFans: In a recent article on Mondes Persistants, Isaiah Cartwright talked a bit about the 'e-sports' focus of Guild Wars 2. How important will third party tournaments be to you? In what areas are you going to improve the structure for competitive play?

Eric: PvP and tournament play are extremely important to us. Although we do have a lot of plans to improve the structure of our competitive play we’re not quite ready to talk about them yet

Nice find Zeroxin they do seem to have put some thought into it. I am not sure a multiverse is described in the links, that would be more of an interpretation. But they do seem to have linked World PvP to the Mists concept, which points the way forward for the lore.

There were a bunch of options for the pvpers and those that chose not to pvp could just play the game in pve mode...nice to have a choice!!

There were and I'm certain there will be 1VS1 PVP and my favorite, G vs G WHich was the high water mark for the best of the best. Can't wait!.

Playing AIon now and getting tired of not being able to just play the game when I'm not in a pvp mood.  Dunno why they can't see the present system is costing them players. Beautiful game but  I'm gone when GW2 comes out..unless they fix the rift/gank system..love to play both.
