Can anyone who played the beta on both give us some details on how control pad works vs keyboard/mouse? Things I'm specifically interested in are:
For PVP etc where you need to turn around rapidly, is the control pad not a bit slow?
Can you use mouse/keyboard on the PS3 version?
How does using all your different skills work on a joypad?
For things like super-speed, is control with joypad not a bit harder?
I can't comment on the PS3 questions, but I have used both the keyboard/mouse as well as my PS3 controller for the PC version. I can honestly say that I prefer using the PS3 controller over the keyboard. The game has a more action feel to the game making the controller perfect for it! I had no issues moving my screen ever with the controller either. It's preference really. I have tried all other movement abilities except superspeed so I can't comment on that either sorry, but for flight and acrobatics, again, it works perfectly. I prefer the controller hands down.

Using the control pad is pretty quick actually, I thought it would be a bit sluggish but it almost as resonsive as the mouse. I prefer using the gamepad vs. the keyboard and mouse for this particular game

Haven't tried yet sorry

Skills is pretty easy with control pad, you press the l3 button to access your 4 left most skills on the bar and the r3 to access the 4 right most skill on the bar. Once you get used to it, it is common nature and I don;t even think about it any more

I find travel to be excellent on the gamepad ( my only problem sometimes is pressing down on L1 which activates deactivates travel mode ) I like it as much as using the mouse keyboard for travelling
As far as PVP combat i find it easier to use the gamepad, instead of the mouse keyboard, because when using the WASD for movement, trying to get my chubby fingers onto the correct keys above them is a bit of a pain ( IE moving to avoid being hit, trying to target an enemy and getting the skills off with the same couple of fingers ( skills bind 1-8, and tab for targetting )
Of course this is me, i do have both beta's and am still in a quandry about which I prefer, But i do definately prefer the controller for gameplay.

I have tried to get my ps3 controller to work with the PC version but have not yet been successful, any tips would be appreciated
I believe that Microsoft did some testing some years or so ago and found out that even mediocre keyboard + mouse players were better players than the best players who used the Xbox controller... make of this what you want.

This was done with FPS that required accurate quick aiming. DCU while action based doesn't require too much "Aim for the eyeball" style of quickness or accuracy.

That will depend entirely on the game, you can't really say in general terms which is better.
From the sound of it though, lot of people are saying that for this specific game, controller doesn't seem to be much of a handicap, if any.
I've been in beta using keyboard and I must say this plays like a console game that has been set up for pc as an afterthought. If I were to purchase it I would prob go with ps3 the game is cool and action packed but is geared for console. As of yet there is no follow camera that stays behind you so you must use the mouse to look and you will be clicking the crap out of your mouse in combat.

In FPS where the movement and aiming is necessary for success, keyboard/mouse dominates. For "standard" mmo combat, it's not as big an advantage, and depending on how the skills are setup, it could be a disadvantage since all the buttons on the controller are very conveniently placed.
It could even more more specific. For example, a melee character that has to face their opponent up close could benefit from the keyboard/mouse movement.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

i read that as well, but was for FPS games, and i dare say the keyboard/mouse setup is a little unique for DCUO
Actually, can anyone tell me how communication works on PS3? Does it support headset and/or keyboard to chat ?
It does support voice chat, although I am not sure if it is implemented yet, and i think you can use a keyboard, as well as the ever favorite ps controller to type messages lol
they do have a fairly large set of canned messages and responses for quick easy access
Ok i prefair PC version as PS3 version is awful, for 1 the ps3 version is limited to 30fps and 2nd it is maxed at 720p res What the hell is that about come on, and last the ps3 version is slow and the graphic detail isent even maxed like on pc.
