Star Trek Online: Guramba Siege Destroyer Coming Tomorrow

SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Fans of Klingon star ships will have the opportunity to purchase the Guramba Siege Destroyer in the Star Trek Online C-Store beginning Thursday, December 23rd. The STO team has produced a great look at the Guramba via a new video posted to the official site.

The Guramba Siege Destroyer has seven weapons slots (4 fore, 3 aft), seats for five bridge officers (Lieutenant Commander Tactical, Commander Tactical, Ensign Engineering, Lieutenant Engineering and Lieutenant Science) and space for eight console modifications (4 Tactical, 2 Engineering, 2 Science). It carries a crew of 300, and can enable Siege Mode, which transforms the ship into a battle configuration.

Read more here or head here to check out the video.

Oh look... another ship in Cryptic's C- store, and better than what can be earned in game.

As if it wasn't already obvious that Cryptic is putting its effort into more cash shop content (on top of a monthly sub) at the expense of fleshing out a still lacking second faction and many other things absent or incomplete at launch. Typical for Cryptic and another sign among many of misguided game management and the "more cash at all costs" mentality so prevalent at Cryptic/Atari.

Is there any wonder why this game has not been successful and can be had for $10 or less, less than a year after launch.

Still at it a year later, eh?

We all get it.  A lot of people were disappointed.  Let it go and find some other game to troll now.

Like it or not, nothing in the C-Store is NEEDED to play, or enjoy the game...

On top of that fact, they have done a wonderful job working on the game, and adding content, not to mention features.

People like you and in general will complain about anything, and complain just to complain, or just to hear themselves sound like a sour grape.

This game is doing extremely well, you may not like part of it, or the game at all, but it is doing well, and is pushing forward.

Price is not and should not be used as an indicator of a games value, or "worth" I know tons of great games that are under 10 bucks, some even free. Not just talking about MMOs, but games in general. People see the price tag as "worth" when in fact the question is not how much a  game costs but how much is it worth to you?

All I have to do is shake my head.  Most of the folks I know who were playing went back to other games.  I know I was in beta, then I came back durring september.  Let my sub lapse again.

I might try it later in 6 months if they are still up and going.   For right now I got other stuff to keep me ocupied with.

"This game is doing extremely well"

You must have a different measurement system than the rest of us because I don't know anyone that continues to play this game, even those I know who are avid Star Trek fans.

Adding items to the C-store though is certainly not newsworthy in my mind.  I just have no use for subscription games that soak their playerbase with additional items in the item shop.

Rofl, so your unit of measurement is the number of people that you know that are not playing it?

My God man you must know an awful lot of people ! And you have the audacity to complain about someone else's measurement system meh..........

I havent been this game's biggest supporter since launch. The truth is, it launched way before it was ready, and deserved the bad reviews it got because of that. However, I must also admit that alot of progress has been made since launch. There was a while that I just quit playing because I felt like there was nothing new to do, but now I'm having alot of fun again. Klingons have gotten alot more content, they started releasing weekly episodes, and now we have the Foundry that lets people create their own missions(and it just happens to be the best mission tool I have seen in an MMO to date). The game definitely isnt perfect, but its alot better than it used to be. One thing is for sure, crying like a baby about the past isnt going to change anything.

I am playing and I am loving it. I am fortunate, or unfortunate depending on your perspective, to have a very full life so I have been a relatively casual player from the start. This means I never ran into the lack of content that the hardcore players so often complained. The game has always been beutiful and the mechanics have also been pretty solid from the start. As time has passed the content continues to grow with very regular updates, enough so that even those critical of STO have been coming around and giving it more positive marks.

If this were a F2P MMO then I could maybe see this but it is not. I have a Lifetime Sub & we do not get Jack for it. The special area is a joke! I still like STO but they need to make these available to everyone!

People complaining about the game is the only reason you got all of those shiney new toys your enjoying right now in game. Criticism is the way you bring about change and STO has gotten plenty of that over the last year. Most of what Cryptic has added has been a direct result of that criticism. If this game is going to go anywhere we need people to go on complaining until Cryptic realizes that maybe some of those devs working on C-Store content would be better utilized to finish the still present severe lack of content that should have been in the game before release. This is especially true for the Klingon faction. If Cryptic is going to make anything out of this mess of a game people need to keep on complaining and Cryptic needs to get the quick buck dollor signs out of their eyes and listen to them.

Ive got a LT sub too, so I can say that I dont feel sorry for someone who decided to spend that much money without knowing they would be happy with what they got. But personally, Im happy. Considering how far this game has come in less than a year, its looking really good for the future.

Pointless crying and constructive criticism are two completely different things. I've done alot of criticising myself, and have seen it directly effect the game's development for the better. Despite past mistakes, I have to give them props for how much they listen. They seem to really be on the right track now.

You also have to understand that a lot of people are angered by the direction Cryptic has taken the IP. Star Trek is almost a religion to a lot of people and what Cryptic has done amounts to heresy in their eyes. Also I see a lot of people accused of Trolling when all they are doing is criticizing the game. It's already happened in this thread (Look at the second and third posts). Just saying the game sucks is pointless crying or Trolling (whichever term you prefer) but when you explain why you feel that way in detail it is criticism whether you agree with it or not.

When I first heard about Star Trek Online, in the days of Perpetual Entertainment I already knew that translating STAR TREK into an MMO would be a feat that even Q could not handle right. Considering what could've been done and what Cryptic did and is still doing, I'm more than satisfied.

Yes, there are many flaws still and a lot of work to be done, but on the business and technology level of things, a company that can sell its original MMO franchise to its publisher and then create another MMO engine and launch two new MMO franchises that still entertain me, well what can I say? That company wins my financial support twice over with two Lifetime accounts for both CO and STO.

In the end, it's all a question of would you get your money's worth in entertainment value and after pouring subscription dollars into the entertaining gameplay mechanics of City of Heroes and City of Villains for 5 years straight, I love Cryptic to bits for actually offering Lifetime subscriptions to both CO and STO.

LOL oh I do. That said, one of the biggest mistakes a person who views an IP religiously can do is play an MMO based on it, as it will never follow canon as it is supposed to. I say this with experience in more than one, not just STO. But I agree with your post   :)

Looks like a Shadow Ship or maybe a Vorlon. The KDF are beginning to get the cool looking ships.

I think this site should stop making news of stuff that really arent, like this.  Adding a new C-store items to an subcribtion game is not worth making a news even if it's a ship.  For me asking poeples to pay to have a ship in a game costing already 15$ is just insulting.

Some people like it, most people hate it. I've played off and on all year and it is definitely improving. The dev team is working extremely well with the vocal players in the forums in tailoring the game to what players want (well, the vocal ones anyway). I'm quite excited for the future of this game. :)

I have a LT sub as well. I left for a while and went back with the new weekly series. And I loved those every Saturday. Now with the new sector space and the foundery (UGC) just around the corner. The game will be filled with ST quests to do for a long time. Something new all the time with user created missions and the weekly series when it starts up again.

STO will be a story telling game more than a MMO this next year. But a year from now, things will expand more and more with the ideas that are being discussed by the devs. My LT will be worth it in the long run, even with the C-Store vs in game as some complain about. This next year should be a lot of fun for ST fans as players get to make missions and tell stories we can all share in. I am looking forward to the great stories that can and will be told.

    LMAO.

    Very well done, sir.

It's nice to see that this game is improving. I was extremely disappointed when I played during beta, but who knows, maybe I'll be back somewhere down the line. Crazier things have happened.

The cash shop hate is silly. People are perfectly fine paying 30$ for an full expansion but paying 2-3$ for playable race or 4-5$ for new ship is an outrage to them.

  • YamotaYamota Member UncommonPosts: 6,593

I cant believe people are still playing a game that has both a monthly fee and a cash shop with major things like a high end ship. Not to mention that the Klingon faction still has, from what I heard, a major lack of content...
