Are you sure? Isn't any beta feedback the property of Trion?
Anyway, just asked as someone said MMORPG published a Rift article that got removed because of the NDA but they said it was lifting soon and would be re-published.
There was a beta review that was posted yesterday, there were about 6 answers and then they posted they took the link down. Now the entire thread is gone. When I try to use the link form the email that I got it send you to the forums home page here.
So I guess they accidently release a review of the beta, and yes broke the NDA. I asked over at rift if the nda was lifted or being lifted. Nothing other than a few post asking what the article said. Oh well. This was the link from my email that I go like i said it no longer exist. You can click on it but like I said they took it down, hopefully I want get zinged for posting this.

That's nice. NDA breaking aside as you're not allowed to give your opinions on the game publicly right now, as someone who will be playing Rift and GW2, all I'm going to say is "more bandwidth for us."

. It amazes me if someone doesn t like a game, and expresses it how much flak they get from people who enjoy it. I never once said, anything along the lines of if anyone likes this game they re an idiot or something. I m just stating what many feel, and many obviously dont. These are discussion forums, not if you like the game tou re the only ones allowed to comment.
I 100% agree with everything you said (believe me... I do.. just look at my post history!)
.. BUT...
..the game is in closed beta and you are discussing your feelings about a your game experiences under NDA. Once the NDA is lifted come back and let the info flow. Until then it is poor form to abuse beta privleges to post like you did.

I always hear this. . if a game is in development for years not much is going to change in a few months. . not core elements anyway. . some polish, balance yes. . but if you didn't like it chances are some new clothes and new areas are not going to change this much.
It is easy to see if you hate or really dislike a game after a days play. It is the people that are unsure that needs more time.
If you love it you probably will ai least play it a month, but I know many people who turned 180 on games like Warhammer after 6 weeks.
Anyone hating what they saw in the beta wont like it after launch either, the core of the game will be the same. The point of free trials is the same, to find out that you really don't dislike a game. More than so takes time.
I was looking for a game like World of Warcraft, with less cartoony graphics and it's own story and a more open character system. Will I like this game?
Tihs game just reminds me so much of Warhammer it's kinda creepy. the races are different, there is more freedom to choose what abilites you have but everything else is pretty much exactly the same with a new skin. the fighting animation, the npc, the map, the art style, the monsters, landscape, the EVERYTHING just makes me feel like i'v played it before (warhammer) and it wasn't all the good back then.
even the rifts are nothing more then a glorified Public Quest. i got 1 character to 20 and decided i'm not buying this game. there is really nothing new here and what is there is bland at best. the soul system was the only sort of interesting part of this game but the problem this will create in pvp will be impossible to deal with. basicly there will be 3 or 4 OP specs that everyone will have to use or be totaly usless.
in the end, if you'v played Warhammer you'v already played this game.
I was looking for a game like World of Warcraft, with less cartoony graphics and it's own story and a more open character system. Will I like this game?
I was looking for something similiar. I didn't find it. But it depends on how you play and what you want in your MMO.
The game is very easy and simplistic, the combat is currently dull (at least for melee) but it's possible they might fix it. If there's a story I haven't found it, the lore has simply been cast aside by the quest helper which means you never need to read the quest text. You won't get lost either, the game funnels you from hub to hub along a narrow, linear path. So if you like easy gameplay, just relaxing and not having to think or do too much it could be the game for you.
Character-wise I'm not sure. The races are all very similiar - forget orcs and taurens and goblins - think human with different marking, facial structures, ears etc. There's only one starting area on each side, Guardian and Defiant, so there's no separate backstory to the six races and rolling an alt too soon would probably get extremely boring.
The graphics are a step up from WoW's, more polished, I did like the look of some things. The UI and all the pop ups are very shiny. When you level, pick up a quest, complete a quest, take a crap, there's massive text and lightning and stuff - I kinda liked it. I don't remember any cutscenes but they've said they'll have some. The world graphics were nice, but bland because there's no landmarks that really stand out.
I was looking for a game like World of Warcraft, with less cartoony graphics and it's own story and a more open character system. Will I like this game?
Yes you will.
Woohooooooo!!! Thanks for letting me know. More excited by the day. Can't wait to play the release....hehe.
I had high hopes for this game going in to beta and I will give it credit for being really polished so early in development.
I do like the graphics style. The environment is richly rendered and is easy on the eyes to look at. The monsters seem well rendered and are detailed. Character customization is standard for a MMO with the basic level of choices but expect everyone to be more or less the same athletic build.
The soul class system is interesting but unless something changes at higher levels really isn’t that revolutionary. The soul trees are very linear and you have to spend the bulk of you points in one tree in order to get access to the higher level abilities of that class leaving very few points for other trees (assuming one point per level and level 50 as the cap). It does let you quickly switch up roles between say a offensive and defensive fighter but doesn’t seem deep enough to support truly customizable builds. It’s a shame to because if they had made each tree shorter but wider or given more points and adjusted modifiers as needed the system would be much more flexible.
Combat is your standard skills you execute with a small twist of you build up points for more powerful moves. But it doesn’t seem to have any form of combo or chaining of abilities. The combat is solid but seems to lack any of the depth I would expect from a game that I would think about spending 1000’s of hours playing long term.
Dynamic content rifts are really a interesting concept but need some work to get fully fleshed out. My biggest gripe about them right now is that they are a massive free for all with no real need to desire to organize to fight back. Everyone just plows into the area when one opens and wails on the closest mob until the encounter is over. Maybe it will be different when the world opens up and people are spread out more but right now it’s hard to get a indication of just how these will work. My other gripe about them is that the reward system really favors ranged dps classes over fighters, healers, and melee classes. If you’re a melee class by the time you run to the mob the ranged classes have already killed it unless it spawns right on top of you. Again this will probably get better once the world spreads out a bit.
Questing is the basic mmo fair and nothing breaks the mold here. There are target areas on your map for each quest to guild you to where you need to go. I personally prefer the quest giver to just give good directions but I can see how the circles make it easier. The lore is rich and well done and the game does a good job casting both the defiant and guardians as self righteous assholes. I definitely didn’t feel like there was a good/evil side to this game.
All and all I have drifted from excited to neutral about this game. Depending on what else I’m playing at the time I still may buy it as a distraction when it comes out but I don’t see me really sticking to the world long term unless something dramatic changes at the higher levels.
I was looking for a game like World of Warcraft, with less cartoony graphics and it's own story and a more open character system. Will I like this game?
No. I like WoW and it blows Rift out of the water with storyline and combat "feel". Graphically, Rift is nice but it's very shallow. WoW is shallow too, at endgame but it at least makes the leveling process fun and diverse. Tons of starting areas and such. Rift has ONE starting area per faction. Very much like Aion. Even feels the same, questing/leveling wise as Aion.

I have to totally disagree with the OP. Almost every one I played with feels exactly the same way as well. The game is fun and the invasions add a good dynamic. It was only the first twenty levels and, after playing through to twenty on both Guardian and Defiant, I am incredibly impressed.
The game is a pleasure and feels like it should be in open beta considering the lack of bugs. There are some minor things that can be tweaked, but the devs ARE listening and making changes based on the majority of the beta community's views. DUH a company that has figured it out (unlike recent games like Alganon) that the community is your consumer and know how to help make the game FUN and not like a job (like some of you hardcore folk enjoy ;p)
Everyone will be making their own opinions, I thought I would just add mine in here.
Rift in my opinion: Solid game for the current genre
This game plays very nicely and has a lot of character customization options (to essentially build your own class). Decent graphics and Rifts are fairly engaging (especially if you liked the public quests of WAR). Trion definitely knew which MMOs to take ideas from to create the world they envisioned. Lots of interesting lore, if you are in for reading, and gameplay choices. There is a lot of building upon current ideas within the MMO realm so as to be a so called "evolution" of mechanics and not to be confused with "revolution"
If you are going into Rift hoping for it to be a major break from the norm, then you will be dissapointed. While Rift does add interesting mechanics to their game it is ultimately very close to the current MMO formula. This game is not the revolution many were expecting; however that is not a bad thing if you like these sort of games. Nothing really ground breaking, though it is entertaining.
If you liked what WAR and Aion did for the MMO universe, staying close to their inspirations, then all will be fine.
If you are looking for a Sandbox game...There was no reason to look at this in the first place.
If you are looking for a game that is trying to revolutionize the MMO industry and establish new norms, then you must wait a bit longer for Rift is not that game.
Many may disagree, but overall Rift is a good game, but nothing that will change the way you view MMOs.

I'm not sure that they are. I know they're fixing the soul system and doing stuff with the Rifts. But I've yet to see any of the other fundamentals, like the quests, the storyline, the immersion - the stuff that got massive QQ threads written about it - addressed in any way. There's just silence.
It feels like they're ignoring those aspects entirely. Maybe programmer devs just do not get creativity and creating a living world for players to play about in, all those little touches that hook people...at the moment it's bland and generic. I guessed it might end up as a fast food game, but it's like MacDonalds without the fries and the filling, it's all bun with the occasional sauce.
I really think this is deceptive and don't understand why people like the OP do this? You find this game boring because you and your guild are wanting DAOC lvl PVP but other posters have to dig that out of you. The OP and many other PVPers are always the most vocal to try and make the whole game sound like crap when realistically it's just the PVP isn't brutal or complex enough for them.
I can guarantee that the lore, questing, classes and overall gameplay in this game is top notch. Call me whatever but I don't care if it has PVP or not. I played DAOC and Shadowbane but don't want every game I play to revolve around that mindset. I would love to see when a poster says stuff like this game isn't for me or my guild won't be playing this game that they clarify in the original post that it's because it's not another Ultima. If people only read the original posting it might sway their opinion from a really good PVE game. It really does feel the PVPers as a whole do this after every beta that doesn't offer the second coming of Ultima or DAOC or something?
I never expected that at all. I actually prefer PVE over PVP, but the PVE itself was stagnant and boring. I m not on any crusade, just saying what I feel. It amazes me if someone doesn t like a game, and expresses it how much flak they get from people who enjoy it. I never once said, anything along the lines of if anyone likes this game they re an idiot or something. I m just stating what many feel, and many obviously dont. Combat is the biggy. I quite enjoyed testing in beta 2 but the combat is simply pretty un satisfying. It kind of feels 'spongy' rather than 'sharp' but the thing that bothered me most was that many skills/spells where simply not worth using over the starting level 0 ones. This is all fixable of course but there is still a lot of work in that department.
My guild will replace you OP not to worry. Gasoich Family is moving to RIFT from WAR and we are very excited about it. 60+ players and more on release date.

Looks like the NDA has been lifted, since there's no warning anymore in the stickies here and was confirmed in a podcast with the devs.
