How is 1.4 afterall?

Have your experiences been Negative or Positive now at 1.4?
I've seen many comments blaming 1.4, like it made game boring etc. Was it just more RR ranks or did it changed this gameplay wise?
I was thinking about starting this game with my friends, tho we are currently playing wow

Population is still dwindling instead of going up so that should give a hint.
Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?

The problem with 1.4 is it rewards people for being afk on the battlefield, so some people are grouping up just outside warcamps or inside keeps and just sitting their afk until the zone flips.
This screws up AAO (against all odds, a bonus if you're shorthanded against the other side) and also means fights are less epic. There's still regularly 100 vs 100 fights on Badlands over keeps but before it was 300 vs 300.
Skaven are pretty fun. The changes themselves are actually fun if people participate.
Hopefully they'll change it so you don't get rewarded for being afk and everyone will be playing ORVR again.
That's all for teir 4. I'm not sure about 2 or 3 (although I doubt too may are just sitting afk in those tiers because people normally want to get out of them ASAP and get to the endgame). Teir 1 still has the constant skirmishing going on and wasn't affected by the patch.
If you do come on board, make sure to roll on Badlands.
Isnt Badlands US server and I am EU player? ALso hows faction balance there
Is it then the most populated server, with alot more than in any EU server.

If you have relatively dead servers like the one I'm rolling on (Ironrock), then the patch hasn't truly changed user activity in non T4 zones. Many times 1-4 players will easily take a zone with little to no presence from the opposing faction.
Take holdenhamlet's advice and roll on a populated server like Badlands, though if you want an EU server, Karak-Azgul is a good one as well (though if anyone knows if there are severe population differences on Azgul and Norn, feel free to say so).
I am playing on both Badlands and Karak Norn. If you are EU roll Norn. It has a stable, active population of experienced, and good gamers. You will want to play in your time zone, trust me. I have played order there since I transferred from Eltharion and have absolutely no regrets. I have some destro toons on Azgal I dont use much so I can't comment but from what I've heard it is good as well. If you want to roll North America its Badlands hands down. I've been on every other server and there is no comparrison.
There has been a lot of discussion on the 'official' forums (warhammer alliance) and in the blog-world and it is generally agreed (I'm putting my neck out here) that 1.4 is, overall, a step in the right direction for WAR. No matter what anyone feels about the changes it has increased the population, and got some old veterans (myself) to return to the game. Much more is needed to save it imo, but if you want to try something new, and are pvp-focused I highly recommend subbing for a few months. There simply is no other pvp-alternative at the moment and doesn't look to be one in the near future. I always have fun in T1 and T2, a little less so in T3, and then have a love-hate relationship with T4. None of that will matter if you're new, however, so roll and enjoy! You can worry about all the 'theorycraft' of the end game when you get there.
