Its DC's comic world, what do you expect. I cannot stand DC's world but I play the game because its actually really fun. I am a Marvel fan through and through, but comon you have to expect cheese when it comes to DC.
Maybe you have to be a DC fan, Ultra-Humanite is a villian in the DC Comics Universe and was consider the first super villian. He showed himself in the Superman action comic #13. I know its not the only promo and I am somewhat I DC fan, hense I said somehat. Granted I prefer Marvel but tbh I didn't think DC ever stooped this low, I couldn't picture any of the feature characters in this game ever combating with these.. things. its just down right.. as someone else said in this thread, its silly. But of course everyone's entitled to their opninion and there are some valid points going on, I just think its kinda pathetic but thats me. Keep your view points coming guys.
That was actually a nice gameplay video. Faster paced than I expected.
Looked good to me, infact it looked better than good it actually looked fun.
I think I'll be trying this game out. I don't read comics but I gather they have all kinds of weird enemies like giant insects etc so what's so bad about hyper-evolved apes?
I beat a few of these baddies up in the beta.
I felt pretty stupid.

Then you will probably fit right in. I am in beta so I cant talk about much until the NDA is lifted, but it is fast paced and the PvE and PvP keep the game balanced as far as things to do.
Well, I got the beta and downloading it myself so I guess I'll judge on the game from that experiance. I really can't say I'm terriblty impresed with this content thuogh, not really what I consider exciting, tbh I think Champions Online has better in this case. However, we shall see :-)
Since you liked CO, I think you have a good chance of liking DC if you go in and keep an open mind. The power customization is weak as far as having as many options as CO, but thats because you are following in the path of your mentor. Thats the only gripe I have about it right now. PvP and the arenas are a ton bigger then CO, also if you roll on a PvP server then the entire world is open to PvP which makes it for me allot of fun. I am always having to keep one eye on what I am doing while the other eye is scanning the minimap for players of the opposing side so I am well prepared for a potential attack.
Remember, comics have a long tradition of things much, much worse than smart gorillas.

Grodd and his gorilla armies are a part of the DC universe, and even the Powerpuff Girls ripped off that idea.

No offense guys but you're referencing to comics that are as old as my mum, and no that doesn't make me a kid, I'm 27. these comics are definately older than me. My point is, things have changed in the past 30 or so years and this game is based on what we have now not back when we weren't even born. Sure its great that you major fans like to collect old stuff and whatnot but it needs to get with the now not what was in the past that was clearly and utterly rediculous at that. I'm actually glad DC Universe evolved from that era tbh.

yeah, and the game was made after the millenium, not back when atari barely existed, I think I remember my old SNES Batman game featuring less silly and weird stuff lol.. And must I say once again, times change, things change, DC Universe evolved from this, you honestly think this is great game content? I sure don't. I think SOE could have and should have done better, but then this is SOE I'm talking about so I guess I'm not surprised..
Lex luther travels through time to talk to some people named bat man an alien named superman and some amazon bitch named wonder woman. He tells them of the impending doom on the earth if they continue to fight. so he unleashes alien technology onto the world making everyone powerful to fight off an invading alien species. And your issue is... gorillas?
gorillas that basically got their powers the same way your avatar did. fits into the story and it works.
It's a game about superheroes, the whole thing is ridiculous and requires a suspension of disbelief.
The mutant gorilas are bland enemies, but that gameplay looked like a ton of fun and that's all I care about.
I love how the guy claims to be a comic book fan yet hates to fight gorillas. Look it is a video game based off of a comic book universe. If this isn't what you want then don't play it. It's DC you're going to get the goofy with the cool. I mean Superman is still in his PJ's and wears his underwear on the outside and no one tells him a thing about it.

It seems that the argument here is totally flawed.

It is one of those nitpick things. You have to find something to gripe about when you aren't playing a game and what better way is there than to gripe about promo videos.

My feeling as well, I grew up a big fan of comic characters like most starting with the mainstream guys like Superman,Batman,spiderman, The Hulk. Once I was old enough to start getting into comics though I was an avid reader of Marvel comics because as you stated DC was always more cheesy from the names to the outfits often, Marvel was just a "coller" environment.
But again as you stated that doesn't stop the game from being fun (since there is no Marvel game to play at all) I'd take this over the lesser known Champions or the totally made up City Of Hero's any day.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
You have to be kidding? With all the far fetched things in a superhero universe, DC or Marvel, intelligent gorillas mutated by, and using, alien technology is what you find silly? I don't get that, and you don't even say what you think is silly about it. It's perfectly acceptable to you that a person can be mutated so that they can burst themselves into flames and fly around, but apes that are mutated to be more intelligent is too much to believe? Come on.
