The official Rift site has been updated with information about four new souls that players can choose from in their journey through Telara. Riftblades (warrior), Marksman (rogue), Necromancers and Wardens all have strengths and weakness detailed as well as a piece of lore attached.
Necromancers are damage dealers who synergize with their pets. The majority of a Necromancer’s damage comes from a fully supported and buffed pet. In an emergency, Necromancers can also serve as secondary healers by sacrificing their own health to their allies.

I played Marksman in Beta 1 and was quite stunned that it has been buffed EVEN MORE in Beta 2...
Also they are doing away with the 51 point cap, due to player feedback they decided that 51 point limit gimps the player and does not give out the full potential for having 3 souls.
They "doing away with" the 51 point cap or just raising it? There needs to be a cap, the beautiy of the cap is that makes each player different, you start fighting and you never know which path that warrior followed, if every can max each soul then as soon as you know what three souls they have then you know exactly what skills they have.
While I would like the cap higher than 51 I do hope there is still a cap in place.

I agree with a cap. IMO there has to a balance in there somewhere, you cant have it all.
And this is the debate. Most would like to have some more supportive points that compliment their other 3 souls just a bit more...but the majority, that I have seen, do not want a high raise over the 51 points, but a moderate one that preserves the 'specialization' decsion that every player needs to make.
But that's my interpretation based on Trions generalized comments.
cap should be 100. then u can easily make a pretty neat build from it. no higher though as the game would end up unbalanced.
source?
From what i know they aren't. They are just making it easier and give you some extra points earlier in the game so you can experiment and have more options while getting to the cap.
75 to 90 points is enough to get deep in 2 sould without getting to top or get into 3 souls well
I agree that having a higher cap would be better. The branches we have seen so far have very minor bonuses on them for the most part and to get the most of any single soul a heavy amount of points had to be invested. What I think it should be raised to is way beyond my knowledge of the whole system though. Ideally, I would assume that being able to almost max out one soul and invest half way into another (1/4 into two others) would be the best way to make the most of the this new class system.
I don't see the point of having more than one soul if you can only invest heavily into one, while practically ignoring the other two. Considering that most of the good abilities don't start till the middle of the tree, you are essentially not going to use any of the other soul abilities.
They need to give enough points to invest heavily into two souls and half way through the third if you want to get anything worthwhile from the two extra souls, otherwise, just remove the system and go single class.

SOUL ACQUISITION
* All souls are now available in Meridian and Sanctum through soul-specific quests. These are just placeholder for now to prep the new system and will be replaced later with real quests.
* Souls are now given out sooner and with more choices available all souls are available at level 1, and you will leave the starting zone with three souls for your character.
* Increased the number of soul points awarded to characters. You now receive 1 additional point every third level, and finish with a total of 66 points at level 50.
* Please let us know how the new point balance feels!

In other words, the soul system is a gimmick as you are essentially a single class with barely a dusting of a second and third soul. I've gone through most of the trees for most of the classes and without exception, the meat of each class shows up in the middle to upper areas of the tree, meaning if you don't invest at least 35 to 45 points, you're going to miss out on the key powers for that soul.
Anyone stupid enough to put 22 points in each soul would be so terribly gimped, it's not funny.

Not sure what more you could ask for during a beta.
Especially given that they (Trion) are specifically ASKING what people think and if it's enough as indicated:

Cap will be 66 soul pts, per the beta build patch notes
