Heavensturn and the Usagi Kabuto (12/27/2010)

Heavensturn and the Usagi Kabuto (12/27/2010)

With the festive spirit of the Starlight Celebration still lingering in the air, the nations of Eorzea have already set about making ready for the next grand holiday—Heavensturn.

Heavensturn is a celebration that marks the passing of the twelve moons in the night sky, and with them, the vigil of each of the Twelve over the realm. It is on this sacred day that one among the gods wins celestial favor, and whose aspect thus exerts the greatest influence over the fate of Eorzea throughout the coming year. Clergymen, soothsayers, shamans, and others versed in such matters foretell that with this turning, the time of Halone, the Fury, will come.

Yet despite this annual significance, a strange and powerful gift, newly come to Eorzea from a faraway land, has begun to divert the attention and admiration of people across the realm, both smallfolk and adventurer alike. Said to be a principle element in the celebration of Heavensturn in the Far East, it is a mighty helm masterfully spellforged in the likeness of a rabbit. Adorable to some, atrocious to others, and appealing to adventurers for its attractive attributes, this rare, leporine headpiece may prove attainable by those with festive proclivities.

Articles and machines of war seen throughout the land with unprecedented frequency... Halone, the Fury, goddess of strife and struggle, poised to impose her will on the world of man...

What fate lies in store for Eorzea in the coming year...?

Yeah the helmets pictured on the Lodestone look pretty neat; each helmet has a bit of variety to them. The red usagi kabuto is the level 1 event item while the black and silver usagi kabuto are the level 20 crafted helmets. You will need armor craft, cloth craft and goldsmith with their appropriate level. The actual helmet can be made in the teens but the actual materials to make the helmets are in the 20's or 30's like the dark silver square. This is where having multiple linkshells or one large crafting linkshell will come in handy unless you want to buy the items.

SP has not been changed yet since the last patch. I am hoping they make the change sometime in January with all the feedback several forums have been posting. Square Enix is probably going to follow a similar special event schedule throughout the year like they do for FFXI, so chances are this was part of the reason the New Year's event was included. FFXI also has a New Year's event with almost the exact dates and times.

In January you can expect continued tweaks to the game such as the UI etc. and "possibly" the addition of more Notorious Monsters to hunt. But as far as in depth content like more missions, chain quests from NPCs, non-repeatable quests from NPCs, events similar to FFXI that people have enjoyed over the years and any additional content people have been asking for, it may be till February or March at the earliest in my opinion. For those that have not played FFXI, Square Enix usually takes a while to release updates to the public (most of the time they are well received by the majority, obviously the SP change was not one of them).

By the way here is a tip for you Taus01 or anyone else into crafting or in a crafting linkshell:

Considering that this time around you don't get a "shortcut" to get the finished items like we did in the Christmas festival with the "twinkle box" item, you might as well create 7 mules and just collect the festive items from the bells every two real life days. This will greatly increase the chance of getting the usagi kabuto event item. Also any leftovers can be used in the future to sell or level up those crafts since the items are free. Since the game is still free to play, we might as well take the opportunity and put those mules to good use!

I am glad they do the events at all. Considering they have their hands full it is fine that these are simple events. But they just can't do it right for some people, if they would have done no events then we would have "Why no xmas event" posts.

Complaining seems to be the thing to do, no matter what. It almost reached the point where all forums not just this one is just a collection of complaints.

What happened to just enjoy the things we do get? Life would be so much more boring without entertainment, but all everyone does is complain. Sad times we live in, indeed.

Happy New Year (with fluffy wabbits)

I'm a sucker for these kinds of in-game events.  Ok, so that's 3 more inventory spaces gone, since there's like no way I can resist getting one of each color.

    pie.

I am sorry but i don't see what is so exciting about this event? it is a copy paste of christmas event or am i missing something here? not to mention that once again DOW/DOM/DOL are completely ignored for this event.

Who could have thought that WOW could bring super power like USA to its knees?
