Lord of the Rings Online: Design A Horse Contest Announced

Turbine devs have announced the 'Design-A-Horse Contest' for artsy players. Devs have provided a template for players to use and the winning entry will be included in the game after a future update. Additionally, a game code for the horse will be given to booth visitors at next year's PAX East convention.
LOTRO fans, it's time to show us your artistic and creative skills once again: we’re giving you the opportunity to submit your very own design for a horse which could be taken and implemented into the game as a player mount in a future content update. The horse will be gifted to players who visit the Turbine booth at PAX East!
Below you can find the design template to use when creating your unique design. Please note, you only need to complete the side on view to complete a successful entry. The top-down and front views are there for additional details if you wish to provide them.
The areas of customization on the mount include:
Horse's color and marking
Horse blanket pattern and color
Horse saddle

I logged into the game the other day and saw a horse that was painted to look like it was wearing a Skeleton costume and all I could think of was Star Wars Galaxies.
Seems Turbine is taking its game and making it goofier and goofier just like SOE did to SWG.
Thats pretty sad.
The skeleton horse was from their Fall Festival, so it was a theme horse. So there was an actual reason that it looked like a skeleton.
It was a Fall Festival horse. Get over it.
I guess they ran out of reputation horses to stick in the store. Not the first time we saw this contest.
Uh what? You act like every single Rep horse is in the store when actually only a couple are.
This looks like a great idea.......for people with artistic talent; But what about the rest of us with good ideas and no artistic talent?
It isn't the preacher that gives you freedom of religion, it is the soldiers that gave some or all to protect that freedom.
I like this sort of thing.. but I can't help but want a larger variety of mounts in LOTRO. I know the lore doesn't really allow it but surely there is some scope? any ideas?
aww cute! miniskirts for horsies! how about some real armor? it's always the same: the devs forget that we had a rich medival history in europe. this could be a big insperation for how it looks good and for how it looks ridicoulus! maybe some of the devs should switch off disney channel before they start desgin a game. just for the lulz.
but i like the opportunity to submit your very own design. the designers could also show off variations of their own desgins and let the community vote about it. you could do the same with the whole contet! in the end you would have a very uniqe game.
Don't forget the Devs are meant to base the game on a book not Europe's rich medieval history. I like many, dread the time when MMOs get sillier and more outrageous gear and items; but I suppose it is hard to maintain interest and have progression without expanding on the aesthetics.

This is a great idea . . . if it can be acquired in-game and isn't a trick to get us to design horses for their store. I'm all for getting the community involved in the game's design elements, but not for the sole benefit of profit.
That said, I see some talk about ridiculous horses and such in LOTRO, but I have yet to see one ridiculous mount (or anything else for that matter), and I'm a stickler for "realism". Using war paint on a black horse to make it "look" like a skeleton isn't a cheap-shot . . . it's just clever war-painting. I don't see anything ridiculous about white paint/dye at all. It's not like it was an undead horse made of merely bones with a mystical blue magic dust and glow trailing off of it. I mean, seriously? Painting a horse is unrealistic? That's just absurd.
Anyways . . . I'll fight the urge to draw something up, though I think there is so much potential to be had with contests like this. I hope Turbine keeps up this sort of community involvement!
