DIABLO 3 COMING TO CONSOLE...

So I was just browsing the Diablo 3 website and noticed a huge link, "bliizard is hiring." Scrolling down I noticed something, blizzard is looking for:

Diablo III

Game Designer! Lead Designer, Console! Lead Programmer, Console! Quest Designer/ Scripter! Senior Producer, Console! Senior Quest Designer/ScripterSenior Writer

If you need further proof here is the link:

http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/careers/directory.html#region=Americas

If this is the case I would be uber estactic!!!

P.S Notice the word, "Console."

I wouldn't be surprised.. Just like SOE is pushing DCUO for both the pc and console.. I can see Diablo 3 doing the same..  I've already stated that I believe Blizzard's next MMO will be both console and PC.. Not sure how successful that is going to be.. I can see it now.. "LF dps  must be console player".. or vice versa..

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

You just ruined my year by showing that link, expecting dozens of limitations on the potential due to it also being developed for consoles.

So this is the reason D3 has taken so long to come out. I played it at 2009's blizzcon and didn't understand why it wasn't ready for release then. It suffers from the same problems as SC2 to me personally; too long of a wait between sequels and not enough progress between them. Playing D3 felt just like D2, and not just in the positive way. I kept thinking that any competent studio could have crapped out the game in afew months, so why take a decade getting it in order? Same for sc2, while I enjoyed playing SC2 I couldn't help but think to myself while playing "I waited a decade for this? where is the progress outside of afew graphical changes?".  D3 will be a fun game no doubt, but by delaying it SO long (nearly all of their original D1 and D2 fans have grown up by now) and making so little progress, it will just feel like more of the same sadly. Bringing it to the consoles would open the door for an entirely new audience which is what I imagine blizz is going for to fill the gap of those fans who didn't wait a decade for a sequel. Bliz is going towards the way of consoles, their new MMO titan is a MMOFPS because of the limitations mouse/keyboard present on the console and to that crowd who doesn't want to use a keyboard. I have a feeling that in the wake of SWTOR, GW2, and Titans quest MMO, by the time many of us play D3 it will be too little too late. D3's ideal launch window was around 2005-2006, it will still sell like hotcakes and be fun don't get me wrong, but is it really going to feel like a game worth waiting a decade for? I know I didn't think SC2 felt like it had ten years of work put into it, especially since they left off 2 of the playable races for future sales (Kotick's words, not mine) I have waited a very long time for D3 but the longer I wait, the less I seem impressed or to care about the title. It is great news to hear it's coming to console though, it really opens up a new window of opportunity for Bliz and will be a testing ground for them to code on the systems in preparation for Titan.

    Absolute fail. Ab.

Solute fail. But what else did you expect from Kotick?

Uhm, so what ? I completed the first Diablo on Playstation. There was nothing wrong with it. As a matter of fact, it was a blast playing it together with my friends on one TV screen.

Because it's common knowledge that when you take an AWESOME series on the PC then port it to consoles, it dies. Example: Call of Duty.

If by ''dies'' you mean - comercialised, clicheed and dumbed down for the masses, then i agree. But imho it's not the consoles fault for that.

It is the consoles fault for PC games being dumbed down to the point where a chimpazee wearing a diaper on its head could beat a game like Call of Duty MW:2 or Black Ops.  In any case, because of this I won't be buying.

Tbh, i really cant see how can  hack n slash games be any more simplified than they already are.

Exactly, mouse click to move, mouse click to attack, hit some buttons to change spells/attacks or drink mana/health pots and click to collect loot.

I feel it would be revolutionary if I could WASD in a freaking Diablo style game. I get bored when I gotta mouse to move.

    to put it simply haha.

Realy, all this means to me is that im going to get 1/2 of the game i could have if it was pc exclusive. Look at oblivion.. that game was cut in 1/2 (dont remember exactly how much) just so they could put it on console..but even ont hat fact actleast u could crack the game due it its single player stle and witness the rest of the game that otherwise was cut out!. On the other hand.. the only bonus i can see is now my friends the would like to have sex witht heir consolse i  can now play d3 with them aswell

They can do it. Should they do it?

    1. Porting the game to console will wield millions of copies sold, more popularity, more money.

    2. Console sucks because of joystick limitations.

2A. They dont need to limit the pc version in anyway. Just make the necessary addaptations to each version.

What we want in the end as pc gamer is to play the game without noticing any console left overs.

    1. for the game company, publishers and console players = Good thing.

    2. for pc gamers, it can be bad, but not necessarily. And even if its a piece of shit port, they will do it anyway, because they can.

If it was impossible they wouldnt, but its not. People said that about Halo. Halo came, with joystick, sold millions of copies, many sequels, people got even richer...

Off course the game sucks, compared to Unreal Tournament, or Tribes, for example...

In console, joystick controls character movement AND aim.

On computer, keyboard controls character movement, mouse controls aim.

Black Prophecy for example, is an MMO designed for joystick users. Not for console games, but for joystick users! And they limit the ship control and aim of computer gamers to what the joystick players can do.  It destroys the gameplay for 99% of target audience (the keyboard+mouse users)...

In DIablo, they can do it, easily. The question is... will the changes from console: like aiming of skills and character movement be fucked up to? For example = limitation of having to be facing where you want to cast..., or limitation to distance from your character you want to cast, or inability to easilly select a monster in the middle of a group....

CONSOLE PROBLEMS? SOLVE THEM THEIR WAY.

DO NOT LIMIT THE GAME FOR PC GAMERS DUE TO JOYSTICK LIMITATIONS!

    common sense.

i heard they won't put any of their games on the 360 because xbox live can't handle all the traffic it would create... so it must be for the ps3.

It isn't the console's fault. It's the developer's fault. I mean, this is simple economics, why don't people understand this. Developers want to make as much money as possible by selling their game, and you can't blame them, it's their job. So...now they've started porting games to consoles so they can make double the money. Don't get me wrong, in no way am I for them simplizing games so they can be on both PC and consoles. But you shouldn't be surprised when they do this, because like I said before, companies will do what they can to make as much money as possible. So if they're able to port it to console as well, then you can bet many companies will, simply because it means double the profits.

EVERYONE CALM DOWN! Everyone argues that PC games have to get dumbed down for consoles but Diablo is an instanced/lobby based game anyways, it wont have a huge download at all, Diablo has never had complicated controls, most PCs cant go higher than a console's graphics so WHY ARE YOU ALL CRYING!?

PC only players all need to realize that consoles arent evil, they are just computers built for gaming with their own software, you can get on the internet with most console's, play DvD/Blue ray movies, hook up a mouse and keyboard, you can do almost everything a normal PC can do, SO STOP HATING ON CONSOLES JUST BECAUSE YOU WANT TO! You have no reason to hate on console's, the game will not be dumbed down if it is instanced based just like the last 2 Diablo's, not everyone can afford $1400 computers, consoles are the future of MMOs, get over it.

I guess no one remembers the original Diablo on playstation?  It was pretty damn good.   I dont see why another diablo cant be on a console.  It is a hack n slash potion game.   Not that I even own a console these days, but the fact remains that there was diablo o a console and it did not hurt the series.  Hell, it prolly helped it,

Is it me or does it seem like the typical PC gamer has the situational awareness equivalent to that of a goldfish in a fish bowl painted black? Not only that but to think that Blizzard (A developer well known to cater to PC gamers) would cut out 50% of the content so it can fit on a console (When 2 of 3 come with a HD) is as dumb as thinking directors have to cut 50% of their film so it can fit on DVDs so they can be played on smaller TVs.

If they do release Diablo III on the Xbox and PS3, then more power to them...PC gamers really have to stop looking at these game developers as girlfriends cheating on them whenever there is a console port.

CoD - got terrible when it came to consoles... if by terrible you mean a more complete product on consoles than it ever was on PC, and commercially more successful than any game other than WoW ever. Then sure, it is "terrible".

Face it, games being on console do not make the game terrible - terrible games make games terrible.

You guys are talking about Diablo, a series that was all but dumbed down right from the beginning. It's great fun, no arguing that, but it's still a top-down, loot-whoring, hack and slash game. A high IQ is far from needed to spam a skill and grab your loot.

As for graphics, it already doesn't have the best of them. Some of you are complaining that graphics and environment get stripped to port for consoles? Have you seen Fable 3? Have you looked at the videos for the new dungeon title, Hunted: Demon Forge? How about Knight's Contract? They're gorgeous, and a hell of a lot nicer than anything you'll see in Diablo 3. It's a pretty game, but not one so glamorous that it'll somehow lose a ton a quality between ports. We're not talking playstation one or two dudes, both PS3 and Xbox are capable of some major eye candy.

Yes, the PC is capable of even better, but ironically I don't remember the last time I saw a PC game with graphics as nice as the above mentioned games, or even FF13. I'm not talking gameplay, purely graphics here. The textures on Vanille were marvelous, as were the others well-done. If you can make a game that pretty, do it, don't complain that everyone else is holding you back. It's a blame game and the fanatics are quick to jump on-board as if that somehow validates them.

Give it a break. The console vs pc thing is tiresome and cliche. They both have a purpose. And screw this whole 'exclusive' mentality, on both sides of the argument. A game doesn't have to be exclusive to PC to be good, and games SHOULD be less exclusive to consoles than they are.

We all need to learn to share like the good little nerds we are.

Yea I am all about hating on consoles for a lot of reasons. But us PC elitist have no room to talk on this one.  Kinda stupid to really argue about D3 going to console, when it alreads has been a console game.  Just google diablo on playstation.  It was just as good as the pc version... maybe better.  Me and a friend would loot grind all weekend long.

These are all the job openings under DIABLO 3. not for their new MMO.

Edit: Also as of today they arent hiring any Console Programmers for their new MMO. Only Diablo 3. So it dosent seem like the new MMO is gonna be on consoles, it might be tough. Maybe they allready have console programmers for that game, who knows.
