I like to move on from Cataclysm and before I make DCUO my final choice anyone is free to convince the players who are in my shoes what else we should consider?
I personally look forward to DCUO despite the fact that most likely won't hold me for too long or regret the purchase, but it will surely help me kill some time while I wait for upcoming MMORPG's like SWTOR, Arche Age and so on.
Before you bash DCUO and if so please feel free to offer an alternative to it and why it's a far better choice. Fallen Earth, Perpetuum, anything else?
P.S: I love PvE, I love PvP, I love none combat MMORPG's, I love solo or group MMORPG's. I love ALLLLLLLL TYPES OF MMORPG's. I don't love F2P and old MMORPG's due to lack of population, outdated graphics. EVE is released in 2003, although it would've probably be a good choice to consider.
So any 2008+ MMORPG that you believe is far better choice than DCUO is welcome. 3 days from now DCUO here I come unless the community convinces me otherwise with like I said a better alternative.

I would recommend either DCUO or Darkfall, Eve or Vanguard as some of the best MMOs running today.

wait for gw2
I've probably tried almost every single pay to play mmorpg on the market in an attempt to find a game to replace WoW, but I could find none that match the game's accessibility and general fun factor.
Problem is I must play something while I wait!
before that play gw1
Currently playing: Elder Scrolls Online
MMORPG experiences:EQ2, AoC(pre f2p), Lotro,GW1,DDO, Aion,WoW( stop with wotlk),Allods, GW2
Eu,War, Secret World
Waiting On: WoD Sometime Maybe: Elder Scrolls MMO, Might and Magic
I got it, but it's been taking dust on my shelf for years now ;p. I like to progress my chr somehow while I PvP...It's why I go with MMORPG's over FPS.
That's what I was thinking too once, but its way too casual friendly. The PvP became too instanced and divided among servers. The drama and conflict is non-existant. The archeology grind was worst thing I've experienced and I overall couldn't find any joy to coninue the game.
Honestly, just go with the one you enjoy the most - whatever that may be. By now, many of the 2008+ MMOs have free trials to help you decide if you like it or not. Everyone's opinion on "what is better" is going to be vastly different.
If you are having fun in the DC beta, go with it then. You don't need anyone else's approval to have fun in something. If its fun for you, then its fun for you...and you should enjoy it and have a blast!
I for one am loving Archeology although I dont know why, maybe its my ocd who knows. As for what is the best mmo at the moment, I have to say Fallen Earth. Its different and a little more complex than your avarage themepark. The crafting is great, the graphics are great and constantly being improved. Overall the games devs are great at improving their mmo. Theres also Lotro. For PvE its hard to find something better. AoC is also worth playing, just find yourself a guild and enjoy the dungs.
Perhaps you should try Oblivion or DA:OC while you wait they are single player with titles huge replay value. I am guessing your'e bored atm so more than suggesting a game just find something to take up your gaming time for a few months as I don't really see the sense in investing time into a MMO while waitng for another one to come out.

I'm looking for info, which surely helps in making decisions. I also welcome others opinions on "what is better". Who knows maeby I'll will find another reason to enjoy something else.
Do you know they added titles to Guild Wars??? thats something to progress in. Hall of Monuments (thats if you have Eotn) can be filled. Aside from looking for awesome weapon and armor skins on Guild Wars there are titles to grind on in the PvE world.
-I am here to perform logic
Also there is no guarantee any of the future MMORPG's will be a "success". It's always a good idea to have a back up.
That's because you never fought in rated PvP battles.
The drama is all over the place in rated BG's and Arena's.
Nothing comes even close to losing your ratings.
I have the impression you are a long way off in knowledge of a game you hardly played. Certainly not the end game PvP part that is based on a ladder based competition.
Im going to say fallen earth is the best right now. Graphics are not awsome but they are ok. the game play is amazing though I would love to see some one take this game to the next level by making better graphics
I like different, I like complex. I like MMORPG's with strong crafting feature and decent graphics. +1 to Fallen Earth, ty for the info sir. AoC hmm, not sure about that yet.
I found my Dominix to be extremly slow. 97 miles movement, but it was a great choice for completing missiong. I just couldn't handle the slowness and waiting through warp gates over and over. I just felt being stuck in a long grind for a long period of time and tried to get away from it asap.
But yea care to elaborate more of the current EVE experience. If only the mission grind was more exciting. If EVE was a MMORPG with a living world and a living chr with its concept and single server, I'm sure it woulda been a blast.
Just wanted to step in as a long-time EVE player. The fact that you're discounting EVE because it was released in 2003, when it is the only MMO on the list that satisfies all of your tastes (plus laser beams and space ships), is a bit of a let down. To start with EVE today is nothing like EVE in 2003. The graphics were updated recently, and re-updated after that. Gameplay is constantly evolving and morphing. To top it off, they got rid of the 30-day wait to play the game (learning skills). Later this year they're going to (supposedly) release Incarna or "Walking in Stations" to much fanfare and pomp.
Anyways, it's got a 14-day trial, and in six months, if you get into the grove and get the money flowing in-game you'll never have to shell out $15 to play again.
I can't really diagree with you. But a back up MMO makes no sense either. You seem to have played many MMOs so I think youll understand that right now the older games are about to get replaced by the next wave made by those same developers. Any could tell you what they know or heard is the best mmo right now but I rather tell you to just wait for the game that peaked your interest in the first place SWTOR. I am not really trying to argue with you here is no right choice here in the long run its your time money and enjoyment. Take a second read at my first post and think about filling the gap between now and those newer games outside of MMOs.

Sad as it is, I think WoW is the best MMO with a decent population as we speak.
There are many interesting titles comming in 2011 both mmo and non. I look forward to GW2, Diablo3, Deus Ex - Human revolution.
Maybe take a break from the MMO gaming and find some interesting non mmo games, new or old games you just didnt try yet.
Personally I have a passion for a little indie game called Creeper World which has given me many evenings of fun and challange - It is a new kind of defense game and either you like it or you dont, there is a free trial to try.
I am in the same situation as you .. have been for years, every new mmo cant compare with the good old ones, so you stick with WoW which is bad, but its a well known bad.
From what I hear EVE is a good quality game which is up to date and populated, but free pvp is a definate game killer for me.

Sorry to go off topic for a sec but I love Defense game so +1 for the suggestion.

Dling the 30 days free trial from Fallen Earth. Thx all for all of your replays. I'll have chance to experience Fallen Earth now before I go with DCUO. Heck it has far better deals on price as well. DCUO itself costs $50 for box + extra for sub fee if Im not mistaken. I feel its overpriced for the content it offers.
I got Civilization 5 and SC2 for the defence/rts fix
As pointed out before, walk in stations is planned for 2011. Should be existing to see characters running about but I do not know how that will play out in game. The updated character creation system should be out before the end of the month, I suggest to at least get a trial account to try this. Top of the PVE chart includes Wormholes which basically are semi-hidden and unstable systems.
Great thing about eve is your not stuck doing one thing. Personally, I did missions until I could do them solidly in a BC then moved to low/null sec, went back and forth for a while but found a nice home to stay in in 0.0. In any case that slowness feeling fades away when you find things to do.
Even though it started in 2003 it beats most games released after. Has a solid community. And just is a fun game to play.
