So after all this time...

I had originally wrote this on WHalliance, someone suggested I post this here ¯(°_o)/¯

I remember when WAR was on the verge of release, I was so excited at the time I actually payed $95 for a collectors edition.

(As seen here http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh109/Judgebanks/Ohwell.jpg )

I remember the beta being buggy and yet I still had high hopes, and yet post release it didn't feel like much had changed. I remember at the time my friend and I were both playing warrior priests up until his character became forever lost due to some bug, in no way was he able to log back on to his warrior priest. He tried and pleaded with tech support for over a month, with no results. At that point I was pretty much flying solo in some guild full of people I didn't really care for. My friend tried to reroll, but he couldn't really stand the grind again. That I could understand as for myself, well I hated getting stuck on loading screens that would hold you hostage.

The plethora of bugs and blatant imbalances eventually became off putting to the point where I just wouldn't want to play due to them. Inevitably this lead to me quitting, yet the straw that broke the camels back was the AM nerf, which actually had nothing to do me or the class I played. It just seemed unnecessary to me.

Lately however I was reading an article on MMORPG, something about needing to give an mmo some time to age/polish up, and it actually made me take a look at WarHammer again. I saw how they fixed Marauders, and I thought "Wow hell must have actually frozen over." There were few things that actually made me interested.

So I made an Archmage for a change, made it up to 10/10, and all of yesterday I was teetering on thought of activating my old CE account and starting a KotBS. Yet today I took sometime to look into a few things, and to my dismay I find out that in t2/3 you take the roll of Ben Stein looking for Ferris Bueller(Opposing Faction). Yet it doesn't end there. If you're not a masochist you wont find any satisfaction in T4. You're either leaching or getting spanked by sov geared players and higher. That is until you can get some sovereign gear of your own. I was still willing to give it a shot though, after all I was enjoying what RvR was available to me on my trial account.

Then it happened, a scenario queue finally popped! So I accepted the Blackfire Basin queue, and preceded to load, and load, and load... about 4 or 5 minutes passed. I was left with a 5 - 20 loss screen that said something about not having enough players. Now that meant that this couldn't have been on my end if it affected multiple players. So I go forums and attempt to register my game account, and yet none of my account would be accepted. After 20 minutes of trying different combination's of newly reset passwords I gave up, called up Elijah Wood and told him that this game is evil, pure unadulterated evil, and needs to be cast into the fiery depths of Mordor.

TL;DR Game was buggy as hell then, and is still buggy as hell now.

I wish finding good games was as easy as finding good music, freaking bored right now : _ :

The recent PvP changes have completely ruined the game for me.  It's more of a PvE grind now than ever.  They nerfed the hell out of XP for every aspect of the game except the champion rat grind.  The new setup feeds the zerg even more than the old one, making it almost impossible for the underdog to put up any fight, let alone an effective one.  Yes, there are more zone flips, but who gives a rat's ass when it's always in zones that are empty of order or crawling with destruction and the only decent gains are in renown as XP and Influence have dropped to a grinding halt.  I used to think that game developers as a whole were intelligent professionals, even if their median age is 22, but Mythic has proven me wrong.

If they had just stuck to the formula of copying WoW, the game could have limped on with its 100k-or-so subscribers (http://ealouse.wordpress.com/). Instead they dropped this poorly thought out expansion and wrecked whatever little they had left.

I was a sucker and renewed my subscription hoping things would be better. They sound OK-ish on paper, after all. It turns out these ORvR and advancement changes essentially wrecked the already vapid endgame experience.

It's fashionable to declare doom and gloom for a MMO, but for realz, I think it's warranted here. They even axed the part of their website that allowed somewhat coherent population numbers to be estimated once they showed that the expansion didn't even make a blip on the radar.

So long Mythic, you should have made DAOC 2. Alas.

Then we would all be sitting here looking at "omg daoc2 is crap and is dying" posts.

Apparently stating the truth in my sig is "trolling"
Sig typo fixed thanks to an observant stragen001.

Warhammer seems like a bad MMORPG until you play the others.  Then it seems pretty good.

As for having "around 100k subs", it's enough to populate one server at least (Badlands) and a couple of the European ones.  I don't think it costs too much to run so I doubt 1.5 million a month is not enough to keep it running.

People have been dooming and glooming (including me) for the past 2 years about the game, and yet this bad boy refuses to die.

I think WAR is ok game, but I dont want to play it because there isnt any new content on horizon, and playerbase aint growing

I was curious about this too, I was also one of the ones who jumped ship when the game started hemmhoraging subs a  while back. Too bad it's still looking like a smoldering ruin, WAR was the one MMO I was sure was going to be an epic success of them all. But then again I also thought anyone who released an MMO based on D&D was a sure bet, and look how that turned out.

Re-release daoc classic with shrouded isles expansion.  Brand new servers, no transfers allowed, release new updated copies of the game.  Rework the AI slightly, maybe do a visual upgrade later.

Hell maybe not even do a visual upgrade as it will allow many many people to play the game with less than good PCs.

WAR was fun in beta, when I played at release and was soloing public quests on my server, I knew that it wasn't going to last long.  The population just wasn't there at release.

Check out Rift possibly.  It is barrowing ideas from WAR, as well as some other MMOs.  The beta is decent, but nothing really that new is brought to the table, save a few things.

At least you can enjoy free WAR to lvl 10, but with all the stupid item lvl changes and such it is lame.  No level 10 and below helmets, shoulders, ect....all changed to make you want to sub in order to wear them.  Nothing is "natural" anymore, everything is a gimmick to get you to sub.

I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.

Don't forget, with the new patch, free trialers, stuck at level 10 are now subjected to subscribers who can level to 15 in tier 1, making free players nothing more than free kills no matter how twinked they may be.
