End of Beta Event - Wednesday, 1-5-11

Tomorrow is the end of beta and the "Battle of the Legends" event. I have to admit, I expected one more patch for us to test, but it ain't gonna happen. I also hoped the "event" would last more than a day, but oh well; hopefully I'll get to see at least a portion of it.
Hoping for the best and waiting for launch day. 
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

except a ton of people had to wait til today to get into beta (still no keys btw...WTF SOE?) so we get less then a day to try the game out.
So, its been advertised for weeks on their official site that if you pre-order and submit your receipt by Jan 2, then you'd get a Beta key on Jan 4. What they didn't mention is that the Beta will end on Jan 5 / 6!! Absolutely shocking way to treat potential customers.
soo many people on the fence who were banking on this beta experience to give them the evidence they needed to support the idea of actually buying the game are probably going to just walk away..
I agree they released many keys throughout the beta process, but with rampant beta key hoarding (1 person singlehandedly grabbing 65 keys from a site.. read up on it as I searched for one) they should have sent out pre-order keys on a weekly basis..
They had to know that trying to send out thousands upon thousands of keys 1 day before the beta ends was going to be disaster.. Hell, people still have to download the client.. Tisk.. tisk..

I was really hoping this to be my ticket off WoW. I had my doubts about SoE since I lived the SWG madness from day 1. I wanted to believe and give them the benefit of the doubt. Sigh.
Speaks volumns that they don't have any patch to show the direction the game is headed. Anyone even remotely interested should wait a few months.

The end of the beta is near, and the next step to legendary is
coming…1-11-11!
Tomorrow, Wednesday January 5, 2011 will be the last day of the DC Universe™
Beta in the U.S. and Thursday will be the last day to fight to save or rule the
universe in Europe (in beta that is!).
To celebrate – we plan to stage The Battle of the Legends in-game in the
spirit of the DCUO cinematic, “Who do you trust?” Beta players
can align and fight alongside or against some of DC Comics most
notorious superheroes and villains including; Batman,
Superman, Lex Luthor and The
Joker. Together will we take on DC’s greatest icons as we embark on
our own path to legendary! Show up to the battle when it erupts on your
server! Check the schedule below and don’t miss your chance to become part of
the “Battle of the Legends!”
If for some hideous reason you cannot attend have no fear – we will update
you as to the status of each battle on our Facebook site at
Facebook.com/DCUniverseOnline and on Twitter @DCUO. We plan to have streaming
video, screens and updates and hope that our beta players will contribute as
well. One thing is for sure, this event will be legendary!
And, to add just a little more fun factor we have some special “legendary”
guests joining us in a few of the events! Check the schedule below to find out
who and when.
One important thing to be aware of, when it’s over…so is the DCUO Beta! (Each
server will shut down at the end of the event.)

Man Beta ends that soon? I Have crashed way more the last 5 days than I did the first week or so I got a beta key. Yeah no way I would buy this at release. Crashes have gotten to be kind of a serious issue for my client.
Lord, yah! We have DCOU on 3 computers at my house, and all crash frequently. My son refused to play anymore due to the awful UI and crashing every 10 minutes. I had pre-ordered it, but canceled after spending a week trying to have fun with this wreck of a game. Crippled consule type UI on a PC?

Not if you are SOE...it's not shocking at all. Par for the course.
