A Question of Control

Hello All.

I Understand a lot of you guys will be in the BETA and a few of you may already despise the game, a few in love. I for one didn't manage to get in on the BETA, and have just pre-ordered. Now I'm a UK Gent, and I'm a Massive DC Fan, especially Batman/Nightwing, so any game with them in is gonna get a good seeing to from me, so warnings about spending my cash not be needed here.

In fact I was wondering if anyone had tried to use the X-Box 360 Controller (On the PC) For DCUO?

If so, is it a good fit?

If Not, Could you recommend a good PC Controller for the game itself? ( I do like my Chunky 360 controller mind!)

Also....... Does anyone know if Nightwing is gonna have some Iconic Armor? :]

Cheers for your time guys! Hope you're all well. ChronoX

Whilst I can't answer most of your questions, I can say this.  Totalbiscuit used an XBox 360 controller in one of his recent videos, and said it was easy to use.  May take a little while to suss out which button is for what, but didn't look too bad.

I bought a 360 wired controller  a couple days ago  specifically  to use with DCUO,  Was simply a matter of plugging it in and loading the game,  works  like a charm

I used a 360 controller for a couple of play sessions and it worked great for the combat side and world interaction / navigation. Menu navigation was bearable, but not as straightforward as a kb/mouse. I didn't test out the ability to use the controller for combat and the kb for regular menuing, but I suppose that would be the way to go.

In the end, I'm sticking with my Belkin N52 and Logitech trackball.

That's fantastic, Thank you both, When I used mine with CoX there was a bit of an issue with turning the camera.

Just saves me from visiting the Amazon website to spend money I no longer have.

    You guys enjoying the BETA?

I should  add i still use the KB  for menu navigation,  much faster hitting a hotkey  than  scrolling through on the controller for me,

but for both PVE and PVP  combat,    i prefer the controller,  matter of preferance i think

Yeah I planned to keep my Keyboard for Social Interaction and Menu's It was just a matter of making combat more fun. I think it'll be more fun than Mouse Combo's haha.

Ah Shame, not long to go til' release though.

Unfortunately it's the day after I start back at production, so no skiving off specifically for a game. I have major editing to do and in my down time doing a shadow animation for a Dancer. >.<

What are you playing as? I'm thinking I might hit the Batman Mentor first with a Tech/Acro/(Not sure on Weapons) kinda guy.

This is almost exactly what I'm doing first. The only difference is that I will eventually be dual pistols and rifle.

    *Scowls*

haha, I just did the Dual Pistol thing in CoX, they are a really cool premise and the animations made you feel pretty damn cool, I love the idea of that dexterity, I know it sounds bad, and ever so geeky, but being a part of the Bat Family, I feel it would be a little insensitive to use guns around Batman, he may break down into tears on me...... O-O

I used a cheap Logitech game controller just for testing. http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Dual-Action-Game-Pad/dp/B0000ALFCI

it worked fine and was a little mor eergonomic with all the repeated 2 button smashing. I had to make only minor keybind adjustments in the controller software, but the camera and movement worked right off the bat.

I still prefer the mouse and keyboard, but you can pretty well see how the game is designed for controllers' subpar functionality.

Thanks for the Advice Astoria, That Controller's pretty PS - esque anyway, so if I have problems with my 360 controller, I'll give it a look!
