Funny but I didn't really hear much about this until nVidia sent me an invitation to Beta test the game.
It's a wonderful game and I think people will love it. It doesn't feel like Warhammer at all and it feels better than most games on the market (yes I have played most).
Keep an eye out, this is the most polished beta test ever for me.

nothing you say will change the fact that, on the surface, and disregarding actual gameplay differences, it looks a lot like WoW or WAR.
appearances count for a lot, especially considering the minimal amount of actual knowledge about any given game a lot of people seem to have about many games (people who don't visit sites like this)
I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.
I agree with you 100% OP, I recently got accepted into beta and am enjoying my time testing the game. This will be a successful game, I have no doubts.
If you mean graphically then I think it looks nothing like WoW which is basically a cartoon.
It brings some new ideas and I think it will be successful.
The beta is running extremely well.
More than just graphically (which are far better than WoW for all its worth to me), I notice the small UI details are a lot like said games (why it should bother me is beyond me...). Purely personal taste here btw.
I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.
Just ignore the haters..
Its almost like theyre irritated that people like this MMO.
If the game would've came out before WoW it would be excellent, but now it is just more of the same. It's not a bad game, but it really doesn't bring that much new in to the genre. Yeah, souls system is nice but hey, SWG had skill system where you could completely mix "classes" around and that was how many years a go?
I don't know. It's a good game, it is, really polished for the beta and all but for me personally it's just another "meh" generic MMO.
They probably mean the whole presentation (world, characters, abilities, UI, ecetera).
To be honest it looks a lot more like Warhammer to me than WoW (except for the UI which is similar to WoW). It does look a lot better graphically than either game although I haven't been impressed by the animations. Now keep in mind all of impressions have been from videos, I have no idea how it actually plays. I'm sure in game experience is a bit different.
Hotbars are here to stay. People really need to get over it or they can spend the next 10 years complaining about them in every new MMO that comes out. I have a really hard time taking comments about them serious.
The engine is an improved version over War. The animations are more than a little clunky but no dealbreaker for me. I love Vanguard and the animations there are equally as bad. Wish i could comment on the gameplay but i only managed to step outside to the starter area before the servers went down.
Word of mouth goes a long way. And the word of mouth with this game grows with every Beta. There is no stopping that.
Rift is amazing? Don't make me laugh. The game plays like WoW, the Rifts are exactly like WAR's PQs,and the class system lacks the amount of depth it should have because a lot of the skills/abilities are copy paste and the trees are too stright forward. I also found the game to be more linear than WoW.
That said, the PvP may be better than WoW so there is that.
Games:
Currently playing:Nothing
Will play: Darkfall: Unholy Wars
Past games:
Guild Wars 2 - Xpiher Duminous
Xpiher's GW2
GW 1 - Xpiher Duminous
Darkfall - Xpiher Duminous (NA) retired
AoC - Xpiher (Tyranny) retired
Warhammer - Xpiher
More linear than WoW? Do elaborate on that.
It means that you're being rushed from one quest hub to the other without an option to go and quest somewhere else.
It's worse than WoW. In WoW if I get bored with the Barrens, I can go quest in Silverpine Forest, or the Ghostlands. In Rift, if I get bored with Silverwood, I better learn to like it.
Somebody hasn't played the two latest wow expansions it seems hehe.
Thats funny, I don't remember the public quests in warhammer spawning randomly anywhere one the map. I don't remember them spawning patrols that would roam around killing anything they come into contact with including other public quests with a different faction. I don't remember public quests sending out patrols to take over control points that would keep you from getting or turning in quests. I dont remember them scaling to the number of players in the area and their levels. I don't remember public quests in warhammer all going active at once and spawning patrols all over the zones.
But no, your right, rifts are just like pq's from warhammer.
The Brave Do Not Fear The Grave
I have a level 21 mage. All of the zones do that. What other leveling option do levels 6-20 Guardians have, besides Silverwood?
If a game fails to grab you for the first 20 levels, it's not worth playing, imo. I mean, I gave it a shot, eventhough I wasn't really thrilled with it in the begining but I'd rather play Bad Company 2 than this.
Gloamwood is not like that at all. You're 21, so you know that.
I actually didn't even bother questing in this beta. I leveled from 20-21 doing battlegroun.... warfronts, if you can even call them that. More like a bunch of people just running from flag to flag. I'll try it tomorrow though.
I'm sure you'll have a great time.
