Your right, there is nothing to say the way people play will change after release. But lets make one point blatantly clear here for everyone not following this closely. PvP in Rift, specifically the warfront scenerio shown here, was only opened up in BETA event 4. Which started on January 7th, 2011 at 10am PST. And currently that means they have been available to the players for a whole 38 hours TOTAL. So if you think your god enough to predict the way everyone is going to play based off of the very first 38 hours of play time ANYONE has had to play it, then by all means have at it. And if saying its in BETA pisses you off, then too damn bad because you know what, it is in BETA right now. And for the past 38 hours PvP in warfronts has been available for people to try out. Most, like the person who posted this video proabably haven't been in more than 10 matches total since it started. You, who say your bored already from winning ALL THE TIME, well exactly how much time is all that time anyway? Did you stay up and do nothing but this one match constantly for the past 38 hours nonstop? I mean even then, your an expert on it with those 38 hours of time? Oh wait I get it, you played PvP in other games so you know everything about this one right? I love this phrase - get over yourself!
And currently that means they have been available to the players for a whole 38 hours TOTAL. So if you think your god enough to predict the way everyone is going to play based off of the very first 38 hours of play time ANYONE has had to play it, then by all means have at it.
You're absolutely right about the limited time that the Warfront zones have been available. I should have kept that in mind. I suppose that people who have never played WAR or WoW could be confused as to what the goal for the Warfronts are and what they should be doing to help their team win.
The prediction I made was based off of every other PvP game I have beta tested with these type of instanced battlegrounds. So while you are quite correct that I can not predict the future, I can make a pretty good guess based off of past experiences. I hope I'm wrong, by the way.
And if saying its in BETA pisses you off, then too damn bad because you know what, it is in BETA right now.
It doens't piss me off, it just has nothing to do with the discussion.
You, who say your bored already from winning ALL THE TIME, well exactly how much time is all that time anyway?
Around 16 hours or so. I would say a good 50 warfront battles. No losses.
Oh wait I get it, you played PvP in other games so you know everything about this one right? I love this phrase - get over yourself!
I don't recall typing that I knew everything about PvP. But lets be honest, there really isn't anything new in Rift. The Warfronts play out exactly like WAR's scenarios.
I wasn't trying to offend you or anyone. The whole point of my post (which I didn't make clear) was to point out the fundamental design flaw in the Warfronts. Who you get pitted against is completely random. It would be nice if pre-made groups could only get matched up against other pre-made groups, unfortunately I'm not sure how well that would work, if at all.
I would liked to have seen more focus on world PvP and no Warfronts at all, but it's too late for that to change now and I'll roll with however the game plays out after release, because it is a very enjoyable game. The instanced PvP is the only part of the game I'm disappointed with.

Sad part about your post is that the ONLY thing they have given us a taste of for PvP in this game so far has been what one maybe two warfronts? ( I dont know if there is one from lvl 20-29 as I do not have a level 20 character yet - been too busy trying them all out). But, even with the knowledge that its been less than two full days of being able to see it, and with the knowledge of it only being ONE or TWO of whatever else they have left. You STILL try and portray the entire games PvP as a 'fundamental design flaw' and 'isn't anything new in Rift'. Seriously based off less than 48 hours of play time in a single BETA event with only the very first warfront available to try out, against players new to the game itself - most less than a day of play time PERIOD, and you can make these predictions? Seriously?? And you dont see anything wrong with that at all huh? Am I the only one here who finds your stand point to be a tad premature?
And your comment on how this being in BETA has nothing to do with the discussion your wrong, it has EVERYTHING to do with the discussion right here, right now. Your acting like you have been playhing PvP in Rift for years when it hasn't even been available for a full 48 hours of real time, not hours played in it, but real time. How can you dismiss the fact its in BETA as irrelivant to the discussion, it is more relevant than your revelations do. It is more factual than your assumptions your making about it. This video the OP was nice enough to make and post shows but a glimps of a single persons view of the new content which he has encountered on the day it was first released. Expecting to see dynamic and coordinated, competative combat under the circumstances is ludacris at best.
EDIT: Oh and here is a tid of knowledge for ya, I only played in 2 matches before I had to go to bed before work last night. And in those two matches I already know you can queue as a group, enter together as a pre-made, and kick the other sides ass all over the place while you laugh it up on vent. So yeah you can pre-make. I'm surprised in your 50 matches you never bothered to try once.
Not going to bash the game here.. but 2 me it just loots like crap haha. while i cant say for sure since i havent played it.. but the pvp looks kinda dull to me..

Ok, I give up. You're probably right. My past experience with the exact same instanced pvp system as Rift that was used in other games doesn't mean anything.
And your comment on how this being in BETA has nothing to do with the discussion your wrong
I don't understand how it has anything to do with player behaviour when it exactly mirrors WAR which has been released for quite while now.
Your acting like you have been playhing PvP in Rift for years...
I have actually, it's called WAR Scenarios.
Expecting to see dynamic and coordinated, competative combat under the circumstances is ludacris at best.
I didn't expect that. I saw exactly what I expected actually.

We did do that, that was the whole problem. I guess you missed that part?
I'm done. Thanks for the discussion ScribZ.
"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."
Of course it's a chaotic mess when the person recording the video isn't any good at the game.
This was a horrible video to show Rift PvP. Bad player + 2x speed video + non-in game sound = horrible video.
Of course, this does give me some idea of why the groups my friends and I steamroll don't even seem to put up a fight.
Way to not heal at all and not even try to complete the warfront objective when you ran right past it.. lol.
Bad player ? hmmm
2nd best kills
2nd best death blows
2nd best healing
thats out of the whole battleground and when most players are a higher level than me.... you do better i'd like to see you try
I'm sorry, you are.
1. Used Light Bolt over Water Jet. Light Bolt is a poor skill and should be removed from your hotbar as a Warden. Water Jet offers far more damage output than Light Bolt.
2. Most healers are flat out terrible. I was outputing 60-100k healing in Black Garden regularly (at 27), you weren't effectively stacking HOTs. You died several times. Warden is almost invincible and it takes 6+ people focus firing them to bring them down. Stop dying and heal.
3. You ignored the flag objectives most of the game. A healer needs to heal their group and keep the Fang of Regulos player up. Going around just scoring kills doesn't prove your PvP prowess. You were attacking players who posed absolutely no threat to the flag carrier and thus had no idea what they were doing.
4. You can heal the flag carrier for 1 and a half minutes to 1 minute and 45 seconds at which point the fang will one shot whoever is holding it. This is your job as a healer, while keeping the group alive with HoTs you can spare and Tidal Flood in between your rotation.
5. You click. That's MUCH slower than using the keyboard.
I've had the best healing every single warfront I went in, so it really doesn't say much when you are second (I've had several games where the second best healing is less than 10k, which is absolutely pathetic). It's sad Wardens haven't figured out that you are stack HoTs and then ripple a tank who is in the center of everyone and they all get healed to full quickly for a massive amount. A single Warden can easily win the game as long as your group is competent and understands the fang is more important than going for random kills. Your HoTs alone tick for 60% of your health when fully stacked, making you or anyone you stack on almost invincible. FYI I score kills too, when available with Water Jet, but it should never be your priority as a healer.
video is speeded up by 2x and yes music is not very PvP but i just threw the windows sample track on that fitted the best to cover up the ventrilo chat that i recorded with gameplay by accident
I dislike people like you. Had you even of bothered to spend 5 seconds reading the EULA you are required to accept in the closed beta, you'd see that you've agreed to a non disclosure agreement. Way to break that, tool.

Consider your video reported.
What the fuck are you on about? Their was no NDA on Beta4 AFAIK. I don't remember signing one. And why all the righteous anger about a supposed NDA break? Who cares? I SO dislike people like you.
I bet you were the kid in school that always reminded the teacher about tests and forgotten assignments weren't you.
Bartoni's Law definition: As an Internet discussion grows volatile, the probability of a comparison involving Donald Trump approaches 1.
Maybe it was the music or maybe it was the 2x speed...but that didn't look like that much fun at all. I enjoyed WARS pvp a lot...but this just looked like a rehashed mash of spamming hotkeys and a huge lack of strategy. Hopefully this video simply does not give the pvp in Rift the merit it deserves...because if it does I won't be playing.

Light bolt has a snare...that is why i use it

died what 2-3 times in the entire warfront ?
3. You ignored the flag objectives most of the game. A healer needs to heal their group and keep the Fang of Regulos player up. Going around just scoring kills doesn't prove your PvP prowess. No tanks were getting the fang so why should i start healing them ?
4. You can heal the flag carrier for 1 and a half minutes to 1 minute and 45 seconds at which point the fang will one shot whoever is holding it. This is your job as a healer, while keeping the group alive with HoTs you can spare and Tidal Flood in between your rotation.

go and take a look @ my other video and you will realise it was made minutes after my first login to CB4 and my ui was reset so i didnt re-make all the keybinds
Yeah they got AOE heals .. The main attack of the bard can be upgraded so it can heal. It heals up to 10 party / raid members. Same for one HOT and an attack that heals a certain amount depending on combo points. These heals can also be boosted while haveing a critical attack. For example normal heal = 150 crit it will be 300 and if the other player has buffs that increases heal it will also be added.

LOL harsh words... How could you not know that the NDA was lifted, you seem like your even in beta rofl..

So, this was a simple task really, pretty lulll that you're incapable of reading. Go to riftgame.com > login to your account > when in look in the bottom right hand corner for "View EULA" (in which you had to agree upon to be in the beta). Once viewing this you will find at 2.2 this: "2.2 Confidentiality Obligation. Recipient shall keep the Confidential Information in confidence and shall not publish, disclose, or otherwise make available, directly or indirectly, any Confidential Information to any third party. However, Recipient may disclose the Confidential Information in accordance with a judicial or governmental order; provided, however, that Recipient shall give Trion reasonable written notice prior to disclosure and shall comply with any applicable protective order or equivalent. ONCE THE COMMERCIAL VERSION OF THE GAME HAS BEEN RELEASED BY TRION TO THE PUBLIC, RECIPIENT’S CONFIDENTIALITY OBLIGATION SHALL CONTINUE ONLY WITH RESPECT TO INFORMATION CONCERNING THIS BETA PROGRAM AND ALL FEEDBACK AND COMMENTS (WHETHER FROM RECIPIENT, ANY OTHER PARTICIPANT, OR FROM TRION EMPLOYEES)." Reading is very fundamental.

It appears you were running the game on higher settings than your computer can handle.
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
