Knup42Knup42 Member Posts: 16

Hi guys,

Im looking for a Everquest1 alike game , that is challenging and requires teamwork. No interested in stuff like Eve online ( horid PVE and gankfest PVP ) , or WoW ( dungeons are way to easy  and Im not playing a sub to play mostly solo to lvl 80

I don't think the dungeons are too easy anymore.

FFXIV could become like that in the future, but not now.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

Not sure if you know.. Hell, I only knew this since today, but  EQ is getting a Time Locked Progression server in March. Which means, they are rereleasing the old game, and then releasing the expansions per 3/6 month (months not confirmed, estimated guess).

For me this means that, as a new player (never played EQ before), I get to experience a new game, kinda.

If yah ever find 1 let me know =P. I would go with hmmm Eq1 time locked server been waiting for it for some time damn them fake rumours of it being this month only to find out it's in march.

I would say if you don't wanna wait try FF11 or darkfall can be a fun game to group in 2.

I know quite a few of my old EQ guildies that are playing Vanguard right now. They say Vanguard feels more like a EQ sequel than EQ2 does lol.

With the release of Cataclysm, WoW dungeons most certainly are NOT too easy. Most of us who have been playing the game since launch are excited that teamwork, CC, and tactics are now required to survive in the 5 man instances that, in some cases, seem more like mini-raids, especially at heroic level. If you got turned off by the zerg-like atmosphere of WoTLK dungeons, you'll find Cataclysm instances much more to your liking. However, the old "gear" grind is stll there with the added fact that now Blizzard puts a "gear score" on you that you have to achieve before you're allowed to enter certain dungeon levels. Of course, most players get around this by purchasing gear with a higher score that really isn't appropriate to their situation..like PVP gear for instance.  But since even that gear has relatively high stats, it insures that undergeared players aren't getting in over their heads.

My one complaint though is that everything has been made too easy for the leveling player. Things that once cost 1000 gold, now cost 100 or even 10. Where you used to have to be at least level 40 for a mount, now it's 20 and instead of 100 gold, it's now 10.  At one time, dual specs cost 1000 gold..now it's ten..and you can do it at level 30.

Of course, the attacks by Deathwing have changed the world drastically.  Places like Auberdine were destroyed completely, others had their topography changed...Gatgetzan is now a port as all the land between it and the shoreline has been swallowed up. But the absolute WORST feature of the new expansion is the ability to fly within cities in Azeroth. I love being able to fly in Azeroth itself, but allowing flight within the main cities, like Ogrimmar was just plain stupid! Now we have literally hundreds of wing-flapping drakes hovering over the Valley of Strength creating graphical chaos at peak times, proving that the domination of the game by pimple faced teenagers is a sad fact.

As for going back to EQ or an EQ-like game, after having played WoW, Lotro, DDO, EQII and other MMORPG's, I would find the camping for combat aspect of Everquest extremely boring and uninteresting. Having to sit and kill the same mobs over and over and over again as we did in the early days of EQ would be intolerable once one has become used to the quest-oriented games.

There is simply no game like EQ1..(played it for 10 years) its big and it has a lot of TS and Combat effect stats etc, and huge aa's.

I have played many mmorpg's latly and each time i say to my self play for fun and dont compair it to EQ1, but each time at some moment i compair it.

So games get bored fast for me since iam use to EQ1.

So lets hopes EQ3 comes soon since it should be old style again

Atleast until next patch, their are allready going to nerf the dungeons... -.- wopido, gg blizz, 1 month? really?

Ok, their also going to buff some of the instances as well, but this is just the beginning. Give it 6 months or so, and we will have a new wotlk.

Vanguard is by far your best bet. No instances and the world is huge. If you get stuck on a quest-chain or something you can just go to a different area and go along a new one. They have diplomacy and crafting which is done better than almost every other game (but is quite grindy) and have housing, etc. Classes are the funnest to play imo when it comes to EQ type of gameplay . . . especially the bard!! They even have corpse runs and stuff which makes it feel more dangerous at times, unlike EQ2. Monsters have factions and stuff so there are special quests to find if you go against the default faction. There is no PVP though, and that is why I no longer play it.
