Is there such a thing?
Can anyone please make any suggestions?
Like Sherlock once said, 'My mind rebels against stagnation', I have to play something during dead-times at work.
What I'm looking for:
- Anything similar to Oblivion. Can be Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Historical, whatever.
- Going idle does not mean I'll be dead in about 30 secs.
- Nothing like Heroes of Gaia where every action takes a certain amount of time.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,
/R.

I think you're better off trying to find a Web Based MMO that's actually playable, rather than finding one with your specifications. And good luck with that, I've been down that road before with absolutely nothing that was even a candidate. The best thing out there is Runescape, and the community ruins that one.
The closest thing that I know of is Minecraft. But I'm interested to see what others will post ...
I'll also suggest this, not an MMO, but is multiplayer. You just need to find a good community or bring some friends in to play.
Glad to see I`m not the only one who craves for such a thing

I think the mmo which perfectly suits you is Poisonville. It is a web-based GTA mmo
Runescape is a very old game thats web based. It is one of the few games that grow in the WoW verse, probably cause people play it at work and school.
Something like a web-based sandbox MMO is going to be released near the end of 2011 by me and some fellow students.
It's going to be a post-apocalyptic strategy RPG game. Every player owns a band of 5 characters that can level and be equipped. You can do quests and fight other players in round based combat similar to Fallout Tactics.
But I don't know when we are going to get the English version online, as it is to be released in German first. I'll keep you updated as soon as I know more. :-)
