DCUO or F2P Champions Online

khameleonkhameleon Member UncommonPosts: 486

I really enjoyed the beta of DCUO, it seems like a game you can enjoy for one month or so. But,  then  it seemed to me like it can easily become boring fast after that.

Because of this and also due to the fact you can get a similar experience free very soon from Champions Online, I won't be buying this game.

Even with limitations on a f2p account at Champions ONline, you can still get a similar gaming experience. Champions was not as fun to me as far as gameplay, but the character customization is as good and they should have enough content now that the game has been out a while.

For that reason I will not be buying this game, I have no interest in paying $15 a month for a game that seems like it won't get much playtime after 1-3 months from me and where I can just login to Champions anytime I please and play my hero there for free.

Its worth pointing out that with a FTP account with Champions you won't be able to make use of the costumization you mentioned..

However, IMO Champions is a far better game.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

F2P champions online will always be there,  well,  until it shuts down that is.  DCUO is fun and worth the play time to me.  If I only sub for 2 months, then I only sub for 2 months.  Games don't have to be a long term commitment.

I've had the chance to log in to Champions a number of times, and theres absolutely no reason for me to.  The character creation is nice, but thats about where the fun of CO stops for me.  The powers, although varied,  are all essentially the same, and the gameplay is about as much fun as a pocket on a shirt.

I like DCUOs gameplay, the skill it takes and the tactics.  I like the feats, and storylines, and the characters, and the wide open world.  I'll play DCUO because its more fun then champions,  and when it ceases to be, I'll stop playing it.  Unfortunately, Champions just isn't fun to play.  I spent my time in beta, and I bought the game for 6 dollars when the price was dropped many months later,  played to max level, and couldn't bring myself to reroll as there really wasn't a reason.   I've been in DCUOs beta for 2 months,  loved every minute, and will be playing on launch.  This game is worth the money spent on launch to me,  Champions wasn't.

I think its a clear winner.

There's a common reason why it's going f2p and sto is a flop. Do which ever you have fun with.

Yea I agree DCUO is a lot better game.

However, to me its not a $15 a month game. It feels like it is a console action RPG  game built to go online.

It has a great quality to the storyline and voice acting, but I think form what I played in beta, it gets boring quickly.

I enjoyed creating new characters and going LVL 1-10 more than actually playing 10+ at the end of beta. So to me that means I was already sick of the gameplay.

For some I guess this game can last much longer, but I will wait fro GW2 and play the free crap out there til then and there are always the 100+ games I got on steam and league of legends, etc.

You can get so much for $15 a month if you shop steam sales and good buys that is partly why i can't see paying $15 for DCUO. Not enough bang for my bucks.

Ugh, not a contest, for champions F2P means Failed to Plan, just a real let-down of a game there, a lot of developer second-guessing game balancing and it never came close to hitting the mark. Silver level account access it doesn't touch the gold plan, and the gold plan is nowhere worth $15. Don't waste your time.

DCUO is only a better game until you consume all the mentor quests.  After that it falls apart and CO becomes a more complete game because it doesn't lean so hard on its storyline.

I don't see where you're getting that, as content past the mentor storylines are raids and alerts, all of which follow almost a similar path,  and the PvP arenas etcetera well,  there is actual PvP in DCUO whereas CO was just a mess.

You do know that comerb is going to come back with all types of facts to support his argument right?

I don't know if that was supposed to be sarcastic or not.  I would hope he would have a rebuttal to support his opinion, lest it not be much of an opinion.  Seeing how the term "complete game" is subjective, I really don't see what "facts" he could provide that would prove one side more true than the other, but clarifying his opinion would at least let me know where he's coming from.

It was sarcatic to a point me and him have gone back and forth a couple of times on the boards mostly knowing that it is just a difference of opinion and neither got too negative about the other's opionion.  I would like to hear his rebuttle as well.  Considering no one got to play the 20-30 content, I would be interested to see how he handles that information.
