Steam DCUO playing on release.

NaowutNaowut Member UncommonPosts: 663

So apparently steam is releasing DCUO about 3 hours after the servers come live.

For the ones that dont know if you go to steamaps > Common > DCUO you can find the launcher there and launch the game without steam.

Have fun playing on release.

Wait... Steam users can't play till the servers have been up for 3 hours? Thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Assuming I understood you correctly

Yep. apparently the servers come up at 3PM GMT (Or something) And steam unlocks the game at 7 PM (Or something)

Wow, Steam gave you a key to activate your DCUO account on SOE right? Just download the regular client

Most Steam games I played give you the key when you launch thru Steam the first time--it pops up on screen.  I'm assuming if you try to launch using the launchpad method, the game is still going to ask your for the key . . . which you won't have.

I was about to do that but with what I mentioned in the OP you can play the steam client without even launching steam. No need for more downloads.

Steam did not encrypt the client this time.

Right click on DCUO in steam and select show key. Register that key with SOE ;)

I tried the right click in steam but I don't get any key to show, on the right hand side, there's an a cd key option thats labelled for my Banes injector thing but this code doesn't work on SOE's website.  Starting to panic about this.

Having succesfully activated mine with a Steam key I can assure you that that is the key you require to activate both your game, and the in-game pre-order bonus'.

Now, before you start worrying that it's not working, SOE just took Station.com offline for maintenance, perhaps you were trying in the midst of this.

That key is the key you use, and you use it on SOE's Station.com. 100% confirmed.

Also, game unlocks at 10am PST, server is up at 7am PST.

If you do the above and activate with your Steam key via Station.com you can launch the Station LaunchPad from your Steam install before Steam even unlocks, allowing you to be on at 7am PST.

My steam account is not showing any key for DCUO yet, its preloaded and everything, but no keys....

Steam DOES NOT release the game 3 hours after the servers go live. The countdown timer is just an estimate to give customers a rough idea, it's the same with every game they sell.

They will allow you to play as soon as the servers go live as the launcher states, However, if you want to download the 9.4gb patch then i suggest going into the steam folder and running the launch pad.

for those that can't find their CD Key. You need to go to your games library and click the magnifying glass in the top right corner where it says view, click DC Universe, then on the right hand side you will see CD Key.... hope that helps :)

Is that a 10 GB patch atop the 13 GB client? Holy shit, I won't be done till tommorrow.

Thought I wouldn't have the time to play all week, so I'd just prepare everything for the weekend. Now I'm home extremely early, but still have to load everything. DCUO, so close and yet so far. Fate can be cruel.
