How was your launch experience DCUO

kirak2009kirak2009 Member UncommonPosts: 543

Mine was pretty freakin good i gotta say,  Ordered  from D2D  was preloaded  and ready to go

With the exception  of the servers  being available  about an hour late,  things went  very  smoothly  for me,  only had one issue during my few hours of creation and gameplay.

For me after every instance cutscene,  my sound would disappear,  would have to relog  to get it back

Otherwise  very smooth  launch  for me personally

No launch here yet ... have to wait until the 20th

  • KabaalKabaal Member UncommonPosts: 3,042

Mine is crap so far. I pre-ordered this morning on Steam, set it off downloading and went out. Got home this evening and steam either doesn't have any keys to create the account or is having problems communicating with SOE.

To sum up, i can see the game in my steam list but can't do nowt with it lol.

Glad to hear you had a good time. I decided not to take the day off because I was worried about server instability and the possibility of not being able to play much. Nice to hear my fears were unfounded.

I did see on the official forums that one of the servers did crash for a few minutes, but other than that it seems to have been smooth so far.

Mine was a non-starter. Target was taking pre-orders that they knew they couldn't fulfill or SOE seriously screwed up and gave no regular PC version to Target to honor their pre-orders. I've yet to find someone that ordered the PC version (not the Collectors one) that wasn't stamped with a delay today since they 'sold out' of the games (what I was told by Target's CS.)

I could have waited until March 17th (my estimated shipping date they gave me) in hopes that it would happen, but who is going to do that? The whole thing was botched on someone's end and basically anyone that ordered this (so far) has gotten the bone. Target is apologetic but failing to understand how pre-orders work it seems. Pre-order means 'insuring you have me a copy set aside when it comes out' does it not?

Old news articles said that Target was only going to be putting out the PS3 version (with it's Luthor Kryptonite Gun exclusive) for a pre-order but then SOE's 'Pre-order Now!' site linked to Target for the regular PC version (the differing retailers had the items they weren't carrying for preorder greyed out and not linked) I followed the link from SOE's site to Target's site and preordered no problem, but  now Target says what I ordered isn't even avaliable online  (now they changed their story to 'it sold out')

It's just a small section of people, PC players that pre-ordered from Target, that got the shaft here so I expect nothing to be said about it but I am asking anyone that had their order shipped on time from Target with this particular version to please speak up (or if you got delayed as well) so that maybe the small number (relatively speaking anyway) of people that got boned here might get justice one day.

Played: Asheron's Call(still the best fantasy MMO!), EQ1, EQ2, Vanguard, DAoC, Horizons, City of Heroes/Villians, WoW (crap), LOTORO, D&D Online, Eve, Anarchy Online, and still playing SWG daily.

So far, so good.  Was the first hero logged into gotham,  got my extra skill point before starting my first mission.  Ran through to level 8.  Some guy jumped me while I was running through the world and I had to beat him down.  He was a decent player too.

Had to go to work right before I started the bane missions.

I crashed to desktop once,  but that was when I tabbed over to a different program.

Ran a Legends mission and hate playing as robin,  but we won, just barely.  Met up with a player from beta who was pretty good.

Found a bug,  when Vsync is off, Acrobatics double jump is glitchy.  Turning Vsync back on makes it work correctly,  not sure why it causes it, but overall pretty good start.

Apart form the slight delay at the start so far no rpoblem here. Some slight lag(most likley due to my GFX card) but apart form that no problem at all.

This have been a good conversation

My only problem was that I needed to redownload the game versus just patching my Beta version.  All it really caused was a delay.

So far the game runs smoothly with only one or two minor hiccups that I believe have to do with my running MatLab in the back ground while playing.

Forgot to transfer money into my account.  So pre order got put on hold.  So no start but my own damn fault.

Dang, I thought we get to play as batman if we preorder.  Is that true regardless of the retailer?  Or is there a level req. on it or something?  I played Batman through beta always.

Yeah, that was unexpected. However, moving the data folder from Beta over to the Live install dir cut the download down to about 3 GB, so it worked, just not as smoothly.

I think it was only certain retailers, and only in the batcave do you get to use batman.   They may have added him to the list of characters you buy in the watchtower or hall of doom,  I haven't checked yet,  but if Joker is there, I would think Batman is too.  Not to mention that there are specific feats that require you to play as batman,  I doubt he'd be that tough to get.

The bane mobs seem considerably harder than mobs of comparable level.  Both more damaging and tougher due to heal and have good range damage to go with their good melee.

I've noticed some people struggling with them.  I did get through the first part of the bane mission,  right before you go into the distribution center.  They did do some good damage to me,  but mostly when I wasn't paying attention and those razors caught me off guard.   When they fire those rifles, don't forget to leap attack and stun them.

Can't wait to get back home and fire it up again,  I surprised myself when I decided to go Nature/Dual Pistols, when I told myself I wouldn't do it.  I expect to be level 20 by the end of the night... and I might have to call in tomorrow.  image

Was great until I started playing...the game is a gankfest. There are many more villains than heroes so we are always being ganked 5v1 or even worse

    Very solid so far.

Yup,  everyone seems to be rolling villain on the PvP servers,  I saw it coming.  I think that will be the major downfall,  eventually Queues on villain side will get extremely long,  and then Heroes will get tired of being beaten in open world PvP because they are outnumbered.  I'm just trying to enjoy it while it lasts.

Maybe we can convince some of you MMORPGers to come to the light side :D

Well at least its not like Aion where one side had a serious and obvious PvE advantage.

People can bitch about the shared questing area, but in the end it means you won't have disparities that the other can do nothing about.  Its purely a population balance thing.

If they had a worldwide release then it would be awesome but looks like soe screw it one more time and we have to wait till 20.

Well, I was gonna roll villain, but I suppose I'll go hero now. As for my launch experience, it was quite delayed due to the fact that my D2D key wasn't working. They had it sorted out when I got back from work, but now the download is crawling along. My real launch experience won't start til tomorrow it seems.

I am SO Happy About this. Now I can be a Hero and not worry about a lack of opponents. I was going to be a Villain if it was the only way around. Now I can rise as the light among evil doers....
