Purchased today!

I would like to thank all the members who contributed to my previous post when I was thinking of purchasing this.  Seems the sale is still going on(30bucks roughly) so I decided to purchase it.  What are my expectations?  Not to much, just something to have a bit of fun in during the evening.  Can't wait to get in, to bad my internent connection is as slow as a newborn trying to crawl.

I would love to go archer route, as I'm enjoying that greatly in my times in Oblivion, but we will see where the game lands me, something new and exciting, especially since I really haven't followed to much of this game.  Probably get my skull smashed all night long!

Everyone rates loss differently.  I get a couple weeks worth of entertainment out if it, its a lot more than I get out of this blu-ray I just bought(Expendables for 15) that I'll probably not watch more than once every two years if that.

It will most likely only give you frustration.

This is exactly why you should go to official forums if you wanna get some real answers or comments that aren't just bashing/trolling.

    Good point.  Some people act like games cost as much as a car and expect them to keep their value for the same length of time.  {Mod Edit}

I'll never understand why some people think you can objectively ascribe value to something like a game or any other form of entertainment... personally, I think spending months/years of my life just bashing a game and it's fans would be a tragic loss of precious time, but others find the entertainment value of it to exceed the price they pay.  Of course, arguing with them wastes MY time and increases the value they get from their time, so perhaps I'm being stupid.  Anyway, welcome to MO, you might find more helpful people at the official forums. :)

If you like exploring you will have a great time for a bit anyway.  If you find you are getting bored after your first month or so (assuming some of the in game mechanics don't keep you busy) I would have a look at the official forums.  There are some great conversations going on about the in game "events" happening.  It is sort of like an ongoing world quest.  If SV can keep it going at a decent pace and actually put some of the hints in game rather then on the lore page of the website they might be on to something good.

congrats on your purchase and i hope you have lots of patience.

just a few things you should know about MO.

if you dont wanna lose it dont take out of your storage. EVERYONE you see could and most likely will kill you especially if you have no guild tags and look like a nube. this game is very very hard for nubes, and even harder for unguilded nubes. there are no explanations in this game, you have to talk to people to find out how things work...... and most people will just kill you instead. being in a guild makes this game INSANELY easier. you will get killed a lot and lose a lot of stuff, dont sweat it, as you learn the game you learn to minimize loses.

did i mention you will get killed a lot and loose a lot of stuff? have fun.

This.  A good rule of thumb is, anything you take out of the bank, consider it forfeit.   If you've played a few sandbox mmo's before, you're probably familiar with this.

also, http://www.navemap.com/pages.php?pageid=4 is handy [edit:  not sure how accurate/up-to-date the spawn points are though].  Hit "C" for compass... You'll get comfortable with the area quicker than you'd think.  Also, get a horse as quick as you can, they make things A LOT easier.   With the "taming" skill you can tame your own... otherwise you can buy them off players (most types go for 1-2 gold, don't bother with the bullhorses/molvas which are cool but usually go for a lot more.)   If you can't get your hands on the Riding skill (look for tutors), you can just mount the horse and you'll learn it, but expect to  be thrown off til you get to around 25 (a few minutes).

Once you killed a few animals and got their carcasses, look for a butchery table, there's usually a butcher player looking to buy them (unless you want to try your hand at butchery of course).

Remember, some towns are more populated than others, and a lot of times towns become more active in certain time zones than others... if your starter town seems underpopulated (ie, you cant ever find weapons, armor, horses, butcher, etc) ask around the forums or ride around til you find a place.

    I'm sure there's a lot of stuff I'm forgetting.

Yep, I expect to die a lot.  As soon as I can post over on the official forums, I'll be heading over there(probably can now, haven't checked in a few hours) I already knew that, as I came from shadowbane and have played other full loot pvp games I was aware of that and figured no guild tags=dead man walking!

I have never played Mortal Online, but it can't be any worse than having to watch the Expendables. What a wasted opportunity that movie was.

Wow, you bought MO AND the Expendables bluray? That's a lot of money wasted in short time !

One thing you can expect is, very very few people are playing "by the rules". Tweaked configs, tweaked files, third party programs to induce "desync warp", it's very wide-spread and don't expect it to be sanctioned properly any time soon. As an example of how deep it goes, you can manually remove the bit of code and data for Palisade walls and they wont exist in your client. Noclip sort of stuff, for old Quakers.

Most of the negative things said about MO are true I would not consider that bashing or trolling. The game is just as bad as it was in early beta. As a matter of fact the game was better in some parts of beta than it is now.

MMORPG is a site people come too to get real reviews of the games others are playing. The worst type of review is the one that comes from a fanboy causeing an unknowing MMO fan to buy this garbage.

I tested from block A and wanted this game to succeed in a big way, unforutnately its failing with a few hundred people logging in. They can't even open Tindrem which is a joke as it just sits there. All bullshit and trolling aside this is the worst development team i have ever been associated with and reccomending this game to people with the idea it MIGHT get better is doing them a disservice.
