Combat is not polished enough -_______-

LienhartLienhart Member UncommonPosts: 662

Those who have played the game will know what I am talking about. Were these problems in beta?

For example:

Pick up an object, aim it at someone, throw it, quickly switch targets get ready to attack well....your character throws the object at God knows what. It just isn't smooth like Batman AA was.

Other examples are random "twitches" that occur when you do combos too fast or the jaggiedness of lunge skills.

We don't need to play the game for 30 days to realize that the combat system is unpolished. I don't get why Americans always release MMOs like this. I mean they don't do this on console games and the Japanese (except FFXIV) and Koreans don't do crap like this. wtfbbq?!

And for the love of God it's done on the Unreal 3 engine, it's not like they were building their own engine from scratch. This sucks =(

I live to go faster...or die trying.

rofl, I won't even go there.

Anyway, I find the game quite fun regardless of some animation bugs.

My bad, except Blizzard. But hey, Blizzard is probably considered a God in Korea. Says something about them.

EDIT: And I sure as hell don't. I need to look more closely @ the dmg logs to see what exactly is happening. Hopefuly these are animation bugs and not combat log bugs but I have run into a few targetting problems where I had to use locked targetting or I would do no damage to anything else.

Isn't beta meant to bug fix shit btw? People tell others not to QQ in beta, then when the game is released ppl say not to QQ because it's the 1st month, after a year ppl will say not to QQ because it's always been like this. *cough* Dunno what other industry that would allow this but hey!

    That wasn't my point.

Prove me otherwise, because so far every American and European MMO I have played has been bug filled on launch except WoW (though WoW had the whole server crash thing going on, can't blame them though). Every Korean/Chinese/Japanese MMO I play on launch has nothing close to what happened to AoC, this, and others (Warhammer was an exception). And I don't mean Korean MMOs after they have been launched here, I mean when they are launched in their native language.

I can't comment, not knowing which MMOs you've actually played, but I hope to hell FFXIV wasn't one of them, because if so you deserve to have a bus fall out of the sky and land on you for claiming that Asian MMOs all launch well.  That game has been live for months and still isn't close to a condition where they can even charge anyone for it.

Aion and FFXIV come to recent mind.

I don't know what you want to count Aion's NA launch as but techincally since it's a korean game it should get counted again.

It's hard for me to think of [any]other ones(even outside of context of a bad launch) because, well, all asian games tend to be grinders with little to no content so I put them out of my mind quickly and quite frankly, I don't care enough to put any more effort into proving you wrong(which you requested and I fulfilled) than what I just did.

We really need separate forums for every newly launched game. There can be the anti-<MMO> one and there can be the 'what general discussion should be' one. All the lamenting can happen together where each can find solace in like minded can't-move-on-ers leaving the rest of us to actually move forward and discuss meaningful and relevant topics.

Read first post, and I've been bashing FFXIV since launch.

Also @ the Aion thing from poster above. Aion wasn't bugged at all. It simply had the WoW problem, too many people. But hey, it's not like they were gonna keep the subs...they knew it.

Back to issue @ hand, combat is not polished. Nobody is arguing against it. Guess it ain't just me.

Btw forgot to mention. Maybe you need to read the content problems for this game LOL I haven't gotten too far and I'm not hating the game, but it's what I've been hearing since beta and beta people usually don't lie.

I haven't done much work with it irl, as I mostly do business programming, but I have used it briefly for lolz back in school.

I am really surprised they even made an MMO with it. I guess they wanted to go with the cheapest well known engine? lol

Koreans substitute bugs w/ poor gameplay and animations that lock your character into place.  Or completely broken mechanics like melee combat in Aion.  Sorry, but I'll take my buggy American game.

Aion has actual problems with its combat functionality, specifically how its animation system works and how flight combat is handled.  It also has serious issues w/ getting into range vs latency and all sorts of terrible problems with its hit detection bubbles on the 'z' axis.

I'd rather have a good, slightly buggy combat model than a crappy "polished" combat model

They did wonders with the unreal tech. This game has a nice open feel. They view distance is very nice. You can see things going on from very long distances. Very cool flying around and seeing smoke in the far distance, then fly to it and find action.

This game feels much more open then CoH.
