Yup (with 1-handed weapons, obviously). It's not especially effective though, since swing times are much higher (it makes sense with daggers, but I don't think any players dual-wield anything else if they know what they're doing).
It's in the game, but you're dead man walking if you use it. Hasn't changed since Closed Beta to today, 6+ months after release.
Just out of curiosity, why do you think dual-wielding isn't the best way to go? I couldn't put my finger on it before, but maybe you've been playing a dual-wield char more than I have recently.
Just lemme know the last time you played, since I'm curious on the subject and I know there were a few patches that changed swing/stam/damage since the last time I tried it.
yes there is the possibility of dual wielding but nobody uses it. it's simply too slow, too little damage, too short a range. even the slightest ammount of lag or desync makes it basicly impossible to hit anyone with such short a range. even if you manage to hit someone the weappons swing too slow and do too little damage to be of any use. handle hits are also a problem since you have to be so close.
untill they make the weappons swing much faster or give some sort of foot speed boost wile dual wielding it just wont be viable.

Hmm, I didn't realize range was decreased too. Thanks for your take, you certainly got Slapshot excited.
While dual wielding isn't really viable (albeit in game) this here is not true. 1h+shield is also a viable combination, especially if used against people not experienced against shields. Since a lot of people tend to play aggressively you can make sure to block their first couple of strikes, then have your turn when they are out of stamina. You just gotta know how to play it.

In theory yes... but with the lag/interpolation/desync issue blocking becomes a pure guess as it is reactive. The SV CEO has publicly stated that they are going to try and tackle this issue via software changes but that if it is unsuccessful they will need to look at localized servers and/or changes to combat.
So yeah.. I will agree that if your one of the connections that does not experience the lag/interpolation/desync issues discussed by the CEO that sword and board wouldbe viable. I have always prefered that kind of setup myself. If you aren't one of the lucky ones.. only 2-handers are viable.

Sando speaks the truth, its a viable combination, mainly because the shield gives you "passive" blocking while you have it on your arm. The main weakness of this combination is the "desync" nature of the game, you might see player A on your screen as running towards you, but on his screen he will be behind you swatting away at your behind.
Is there dual wield in game yes. Does it work properly no. Dual wield falls into the catagory with most mechanics or systems in the game. NOT FINISHED. Ask any person who has played MO since beta what the tag line is. " MO is the place holder for MO"

The only viable weapons are 2 handers.

For the reach I'm guessing? Is dual wielding even in the game?
