SBFordSBFord Former Associate EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 33,129

Perfect World International seen its first free to play gamer hit the level cap who did not spend a dime on the game from start to finish. While no information was released about how long it took for this player to reach level 105, developers champion the fact that it is possible to accomplish without spending any real-world cash.

"While reaching level 105 is a milestone for Perfect World International , doing so without spending a dime is a testament to the name free-to-play," said Jonathan Belliss, Director of Marketing for Perfect World Entertainment Inc. "Perfect World Entertainment's games are designed to be truly free-to-play and when compared to subscription-based games, offers players the best entertainment value available on the market today."

No information on time spent, especially per level? :(

Well all I have to say to this farce is that the person has far too much free time on their hands.  I got some characters into the eighties without spending a dime, but gave up after that, the grind became horrendous at that point.  Doing the daily instances 100 times became very unfun too.

Basically there are very few quests after level 70 and they provide only a small fraction of the experience for a level.  So you are relegated to grinding and doing an instance a day for the daily quest, which is the same instance, over and over again.  It only changes when you hit a level ending in zero.

Wow, 105.  Don't think I kept the game installed long enough to get into the 50's lol.  While the game is not for me kudos to the individual for pulling it off.  Wonder how many max chars in LotrO have been able to get to where they are without paying a dime :)

I fail to see how thats news.

    "No lifer reaches max level"

Woopie because thats not seen everyday in every MMO.

Umm sorry Suzie but apparently you are not in touch with MMO's. MMO's do not have a definite "end". Thep player simply reached the level cap and perhaps completed all the quests, that doesn't mean they "beat the game" though. There is still PvP and other things to do.

Beating a game implies there is nothing more left to do, but with PvP and raids there truly is no end to the game.

Sorry it just bugs me when people say they "beat an MMO".

People really play PWI games that are true MMO players?

testament to the name of free to play when theres only one person that has achieved this?....am i reading this right?

  • Masa1Masa1 Member UncommonPosts: 318

So all that took like years and only 1 player? I'm truly shocked...

  • FdzzaiglFdzzaigl Member UncommonPosts: 2,433

The last five levels must have taken him years as 100 --> 101 takes as much Xp as 1 --> 100 and it increases by a lot more still after that.

Don't kid yourself, it might be theoretically possible to get the best stuff and the highest level in this game without paying, but the fact that only one dude got that done in all those years is a testament to how difficult it really is, not the opposite as the makers are trying to tell you.

Not to mention botting is rampant in PW and this guy could have very well used that without getting caught.

i played till lvl102 and had otherr chars at lvl95+, gave up cos it woiuld have taken 4 years to gain enough xp to hit lvl cap with whats available in daily quests and doing average 4 hours grind......begs the question how did he get there without botting or having multiple users grinding 24 hours a day........still glad i walked away when thios game started dying...now it's dead who cares
