I thought i should share some tips with players that don't already know these things. There were a few in my old guild and its a pain when you don't know.

Grouping

If your Looking for a group in Guildwars instead of typing LFG over and over look for a guy with a man icon above his name, select his charcter and click on invite.

What it does is submit a join request and its an easy way to get into groups, try other instances also in the top left hand corner of the screen.

There is a map on the right side of the screen. If you click on it, it shows everyone in your party a red dot or you can hold down the mouse button to draw lines.

This is useful when your trying to tell people where to move to.

When you're in a group and trying to all target the same monster press the "t" button and a little target icon will appear next to you're name on the party window. If other players click this target icon then they will get the monster you're targeting.

Soloing

You can also make your own group of computer players. You'll see characters called henchmen in towns. If you invite them and go on a mission you'll have different kinds of computer players in your party that you can adventure with.

This can be useful if there is no one else to group with.

Missions

In certain areas of the map you'll see a town with a sheild icon. These are mission areas. In mission areas you can get a group together and enter the mission. When you complete that mission you get 1000 xp, you progress the story of the game and you move to a new area. The new area could be another mission area or a town in which you have to go and find the next mission area which isn't normally very far.

In missions you get bonus objectives. These give you another 1000 xp but do not need to be done to complete the mission.

Banking

In towns there are banks, for 50 gold you can open an account and deposit money and items. The items you deposit can be withdrawn from other towns.

The characters that handle storage have the [storage agent] in there name.

Crafting

Crafting is different in this game to most games. Rather then make the items yourself in Guildwars you bring the items the crafting character needs and some gold and he makes them for you.

The crafters will have [armor merchant] in their names. You can click on them to find out what they need in order to make certain things.

You don't need to get crafting materials off the monsters you kill. You can also buy crafting materials at material traders that are in some towns.

    Ok, I'll share some too:

    1. Very useful to look some fansites and look up, what kind of crafting materials does some armor set need and try to get those materials before heading into Old Ascalon.

    2. Good to have atleast 500-600 gold before going into Old Ascalon.

    3. In PvE, try to strike healer enemies at first since then battles won't take so long.

I dont know how it is in this game, But i do know if someone tries to invite me without a word that person is either a russian or complete idiot. Its not that hard asking a question first. Spamming invites is one of the lowest things to do in my opinion. very annoying!

BUT maybe there is another feature in this game who makes this good. I dont know.

If not, its not a good thing to tell ppl to do in a noob helping topic....

(Sorry for lurking your forum.. just curious about GW...)

to be honest, i think in GW it's slightly different in that in the mission areas there are only ever two reasons to group - either you are going to the explorable areas or do the mission. People in GW don't seem to have as much of a hangup about random invites (from my experience).

    ---sig---

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...
