Personally I am going with fighter.  I am looking foward to this game to see how it will emulate real D&D, obviously it wont be able to 100% carry over but it will be interesting to see how close they can get.  One thing I think will be a big shocker if they make this game "right" is that there is actual class balance, even the posts here show most people are basing thier previous decisions on other mmo's not on thier experiance with D&D ((course alot of players might not have any image))

i choose ranger but it really depends on how they let you do this i heared from there website they may allow you to combine up to 4 classes that would be crazy so ranger definatly if u cant combine but if u can combine thats a whole different story.

    Man is obsolete.

Well, if they respect D&D setting, you may see VERY fast most casters restart melee.

A caster cant solo at all until LATE in levels, he died because a rat attack him and was lucky!  image

But a caster level 20 is VERY strong...yet to get even to level 5 is extremely hard, so dont expect to be a level 5 wizard after a week if they make the game with respect to what D&D is...it will be hard, painfull and fast for a wizard!  In fact, the pure harshness of starting a wizard should deter them to the point that finding a wizard will be quite a feat...if wizards and sorcerers are comons, then they do a poor job.  It need to be hard, painfull, and unrewarding...until at least level 5 where they start to be good.

See, getting to level 20 should take a year...spending 2 months below level 5 for a casual wizard and been completely weak and at the mercy of about anything that attack them...that is D&D.

Of course Turbine may have been corrupted by games like EQ and make class more balanced, but D&D is about a LACK of balance, completely unfair, a wizard level 1 is weaker then a kobold, but a level 20 wizard can solo what a raid of fighters cant do.

I was thinking about being a Warforged Fighter. But then I realised that I kinda want to get used to casting spells so maybe I can work in a magic user if I feel like making a second character. So I will probably be a Paladin. And in expansions you might just see special mounts. And that would be totally boss!

This game gives me chills! I can't friggin wait!

    do it to it

I'd probably be a cleric because of the ease for one to get into parties. Healers are always in short supply and almost always needed. Though I have always played fighters or paladins in the past (samurai whenever I could get away with it :P) But I don't really like being a mix of spell casting and melee. The idea kinda scares me tbh. Instead of being good at one thing you suck at two (which is why I rarely ever multi-class).

I'm planning a Human Rog/Rgr/Ftr ( 15/3/2 ) at some point and when Artificer's come out one of those for sure.

I'll probably try the 'forged out as well.

I prefer Monk but in the mean time Fighter

Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit

Played Ranger/Scout types in every other game I have played so will be doing the same in D&D Online as well although the D&D ruleset Druid may be a good choice.

I would be an elf, wizard, eventhough I also like human, rogues/paladins, and elf, rogues. Being a wizard/sorcerer is a great advantage because of the arcane magick. Wizards and sorcerers aren't the strongest of all the classes, but they pack a punch. Magick when done right and effectively is way stronger than brawn and weapons, though some weapons can be so much stronger than some magick. If you look for brawn go with the human, barbarians. Being a barbarian has its advantages with the crazy factor they possess in fights.

Back in my PnP days I played a cleric, generic fighter, thief and a samurai. Mostly the cleric and fighter so I will start off with one or both. I can't wait for this game to come out. This is what D&D players have been waiting for since the Gold Box series of games!!

Paladin: light healing ability, melee, and anti-undead. Righteous.

  • I'm in love with thief/rogue class, tough I have to see how multiclass works, since a lvl 20 cap can be not that hard and multiclass might extend the game for me (lower xp from multiclassing = more time to reach lvl 20).

Monk or Ranger for me, depending if they include Prestige classes or not.

Here is a question I throw out here for someone to help me with.......If there is no XP for killing mobs and only for Quest Completion....then....why fight your way through the hoardes? What purpose would is serve to be that Palladin? You fight long and hard and while you do, that sneaky little Rogue goes right by it all, steals the treasure and  completes the Quest, he still get's the same XP without the fight and can take care of the traps along the way......so, what would be the premiere choice in this game? Do you fight your way through with might/magic (no reference there) or do you sneak around? I for one would love to play that Cleric that saves your **** when you need it the most and then blast those Undead!!!!! image
