So, Ensemble was working on a Halo MMO a few years back called Project Titan. MicroSoft pulled the plug.
Now Blizzard is working on a new IP also called Project Titan.
A bunch of Ensemble folk now work with Activision/Blizzard.
This IP has been stated to be a MMOFPS.
Robert Kotick (CEO of Activision Blizzard) has stated he doesn't want any risky endevors done. Only things that are gurantted to make money. Halo has made a ton of money.
In a interview at Next Gen, Blizzard boss Rob Pardo (co-designer on World of Warcraft) says his company could share resources with Bungie on an MMO project and furthermore, he'd love to play it. "I think that's one of the other reasons we've been so successful at Blizzard -- all of us play and love games. We're as big a fans as anybody. I would love to play a Bungie MMO. I think it would be cool."

The problem is, I thought MicroSoft owned the rights to Halo? Then again, didn't Bungie break off from MicroSoft in 2007? Even if they did, MS could always hire blizzard to make a Halo MMO if they wanted to, and Blizzard does make quality games, and I'm sure they love money.
Personally, I'm not sure how I'd feel about a Halo MMO, I'd give it a shot probably.
It just seems all too much of a coicedence for it NOT to be a Halo MMO.

I thought I heard that it was a new IP, no source but I know other people have heard the same, maybe they can back me up.
I highly doubt its a halo game though, if so you can shred up with little respect I have left for this company and burn it.
True. But Blizz has been known to speak in riddles. So it could mean new as in, new to them.
I'm just being the devils advocate though so to speak. Spit ballin ideas is all. I could care less what MMO it is in the end so long as it's good.

it wont be halo but it may be an FPS
its completely new IP, not halo or anything , they have mentioned being new IP bunch of times now and also said they have lots of work to do as they need to build lore etc etc for new IP, so i dont think its halo. MMOFPS or MMORPG whatever blizz makes will be awesome.

It is of course a possibility.
It is interesting that Blizzard seems to be betting on a MMOFPS, it is a genre that is more or less undeveloped.
It will be fun to see what this game will be like, they do have a pretty good team with Kaplan as lead designer and all.
I am not sure if it will be a hit or not however, I don't think anyone know if a MMOFPS can be large or not.
That's what I'm wondering. Basically, I want to see if they can make another "smash hit" like, or at least close to WoW (in terms of money and numbers), or if WoW was just a fluke. And like you said, MMOFPS' are new and under developed. I played one recently, but I couldn't get into it. I can't for the love of god remember the name of it though.

I had heard that from somewhere, but I wasn't exactly sure, and I didn't want to post something without the correct sources. But if what you say is true, then yeah, it's probably a Halo MMO. It's all too much of a coincidence for me.

If it is true then it could mean that it could be a console only mmo. Makes sense because they love WoW and they don't want nothing to compete with it. A console mmo makes sense for them.
I doubt it'd be console only. I would bet that, if in fact it is a Halo MMO, or even a MMOFPS at all, it'll be for 360 and PC. I can see them taking a chapter out of SoE's book, and going with both console AND PC.

It's not a Halo MMO.
It most likely won't be 'console only'.
It will be something set more in a modern-futuristic setting.
And being Blizzard....
We probably won't see the game for another 6+ years :P

I cant find the source, but yeah supposedly Blizzard/Activision and Microsoft made 3 agreements in 2010 (1 about CoD, 2 undisclosed, acquiring rights to the Halo IP?)

MMOFPS=hacked, all FPS games get hacked eventually because these 1337 nerds have to be uber and 1 shot kill everyone. Those who think just because Blizzard would be the one making it means it wont be hacked, are kidding themselves. If they go through with this, i will look forward to reading all the fail threads on this site from the people complaining the game got hacked.
I'm sure Blizzard will find a way to prevent it. I mean, they do a decent job with keeping hackers off of WoW ( though occasionally there's always a low level flying over a city spamming gold selling sites).

Blizzard started work, announced, their new MMO long before the people at Ensemble started anything to do with a Halo MMO.
We've known Blizzard was working on or at least planning a new MMO for four years now.
