If you like Vindictus, try...

Ever since I saw a gameplay video of Vindictus, I've been DYING to play it, but I'm Australian, so there's no chance of that happening any time soon. So rather than bitch about it (I hate Nexon, that's all I'm gonna say xD), I'd like to know if there's any other MMORPG's like Vindictus. I've looked with no luck and had hoped MMORPG.com or some other website had the feature "If you like this game, try this other one" but none do. I know I might get banned or have this post deleted, but I want to play Vindictus that much I really want to know.

Now Vindictus is unique in that you control the character fully, you don't click an enemy and the character runs up and auto-attacks it, you pull off the moves yourself with each click or press of a button. It reminds me of the Legend of Zelda, but an RPG version. I want an MMORPG like that and want to know: Is there any other MMORPG with that feature?

Closest I guess that comes to those controls in an MMO is DCUO, but you still have to actually target in that game, but you only attack by making combo's with your mouse buttons.

not to forget you can upgrade your combos, and get acces to combos that stun/interupt and stuff, it works out pretty well :)

Closest is the Age of Conan - you controll your character and all it's actions like in action games (3d person vies), controll directions of the attacks, blocks, combos etc.

I have to agree that the closest I can think of is DCUO. Age of Conan doesn't even function in the same way, but it's still a fine game.

Plus, I wouldn't say that Vindictus is like The Legend of Zelda at all, it's more like Monster Hunter.

Writer / Musician / Game Designer

Now Playing: Skyrim, Wurm Online, Tropico 4
Waiting On: GW2, TSW, Archeage, The Rapture

I was afraid of that. DCUO is another I want, but it costs WAY too much per month. And Zelda is just one of the few examples I can think of. Any game with swords where you swing with each click or button press is like this and Monster Hunter falls under that category. True, each game is different and unique, but you know what I mean...right?

Unfortunately Tera lacks the kinetic feeling that Vindictus offers, but that's just my opinion. Tera feels more like RYL, or a targetless version of CO, so in short don't expect the same thrill of Vindictus from Tera.

If you do end up playing, make sure when you host that you title your boats so that people know that you're from Australia. One of my biggest issues is playing in the early morning and getting stuck with European hosts.

IMO you are not missing much with this game. Heard good things about, played it, quit it.

I would say people have different tastes, but one of my fears with Vindictus is that, while it does have the gameplay style I'm looking for, it also looks like it's lacking and easy to get bored with. It may have changed since the video was released when Vindictus was released, but I'm still looking for something to fill the void.

I'll give Age of Conan and Tera a look, but with Tera, it's not released yet. I'd rather get something that's out now than wait for another one to come out like I did Vindictus and DCUO.

Well you sort of target in DCUO. DCUO is more like a Zelda game in combat. It's a soft lock by looking in the direction of your target then you can hard lock if you so desire. But there isn't an auto attack. You can play on PC or PS3.

Not a great deal of action oriented MMO's so choices are limited for now.

I agree people have different tastes. That is why I started my post with IMO( in my opinion). There are plenty who will like this game, but from the good things I heard I was expecting a much better game.

You could try Divine Souls from Outspark, it's free to play and is very similar to Vindictus, using mouse+keyboard combo system and instanced dungeons.  However the game isn't released yet, but I believe the open beta should start in the following weeks.
