It's the best game ever becouse it's free or cheap?
Any other reason?
GA is good fun for a while, but it's got some serious issues.
The qeueing mechanism has got serious issues. Lags and delays when joining matches are a constant.
It has the worst community I have ever seen. Even worse than almighty barrens chat.
Extremelly thin amount of content. Cmon, if you ask me for a shooter with more maps and arenas, I could easily mention Quake 1.
It penalizes good players. If you join a random team and you have good statistics the match maker will make sure all the tards are gonna be placed on your team. You can not make pre-mades for merc matches. All this to satisfy the most unskilled players, like in most games, where things get tailored for the casuals, noobs, scrubs, etc.
Very unstable client. It crashes so much. Before you go "it does not crash on my computer", well, grtz, lucky you, but I know many people who have to restart the client every now and again.
MMO wannabe with an extremelly grindy yet dumb crafting system and a tiny mega-instanced open area. The resources allocated there should have been spent on designing more matches. This game will never be an actual MMOFPS no matter how much they try. The engine is simply not ready for it.
Nothing to do between matches. Just sitting in town yawning. You end up spending more time waiting than playing.
So, yeah, while it is great fun for a while, it is far from "the best game ever". Worth the cheap steam deal if you ask, and you ll have fun for a while playing it, but that's about it.
Is GA a fully functional mmorpg or just some lobby game like GW & DDO? I'm not really interested in another instanced up online game.
its not really an MMO, but a squad based instanced shooter, theres only a few areas in it, and by all accounts the community is the worst you can possibly imagine.. not sure it even has any positive aspects.
I played all the classes till 12 and nearly bought the game while it was still 10 dollars. It went to 30 dollars and I changed my mind.
There is a city and then there is this outside area that has quests and stuff. Like I said I only got to 12, but there was a standard outdoor explorable area. Majority of my time played was queued for PvE instance dungeon type things.
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
The community isn't that bad. Sure City/Local chat is full of e-tard and trolls, but what MMO isn't these days? I've even been lambasted by these folk, but let me tell you what; after someone says something stupid or offensive to me, I've gotten others who message me and say "Don't worry about that guy - he's a tool" or " You did great, eff the troll". This has happened several times, where others have praised my efforts while people who have no idea how stuff works complain/whine/blame others for a failed pve/pvp/raid or dbl agent mission. In any game you'll find the people who take it too seriously. I'm in it for the fun, and this game brings it in spades. So in my mind, there are the complete fools who like to express their unexperienced opinions with everyone and the respectful, gracious and appreciative players who compliment, and thank you for a job well-done.
Cliffs; community ain't bad~ plenty of nice people in GA.
i bet you will be addicted to it after trial, i was
Hes right.
Very fun game.
Then you realize that the game has no open world other than that starting area, its all queueed instant world missions.
Then you move on.
Sigh....false hopes
I would, however, gladly pay for this game if it had open world progression/open world pvp AND their wonderful instant mission thing. Not going to pay just for the instant missions however.
Global agenda is what i've been looking for since 2003 when i started playing mmorpg's.
A game you can play casual, like when you spend 6 months playing your main mmorpg's and you cant stand logging in anymore so you need to take a month or 2 away.
If i had a game to play causually instead of playing my main game all the time i wouldnt need so many breaks.
I'm on a break from wow atm and been playing GA off and on.. i play GA like 5 hours or so every 1-3 days and its really fun hopefully if i find a new game to put most of my time into or go back to wow hopefully i'll still play GA a few times a week so i dont wear myself out with wow or whatever.
Even i am not huge fan or hardcore player of shooter games, i really enjoy playing Global Agenda. First off, simply because GA is shooter with MMO elements, not otherwise so for anyone who expect deep lore and story, hundrends of quests, numberous zones/instances, hourly/weekly grinding for crafting materials and all other "classic" MMO things it will not find in GA. All this elements are in GA, but very simplified. This game is MMO shooter like Planetside and Tribes franchize (by the way Hi-Rez Studios; publisher of GA, buy Tribes franchize and they are making Tribes Universe, "sequel" of Tribes).
PvP action is very fluid, fast and joyful. Yes, there could be more maps but exsiting ones are very well designed (btw. generally i dont understand eternal whining for more maps (how much is enough then? 50? 100?) in any shooter/rts games when community always endup playing just couple of most interresting maps).
It is true, there is only one open PvE area with less then 50 quests (more like 30) where you can make char up to lvl (around) 20, but as developers said, that area is more for new players to get familiar with game then to really try to make game "real MMORPG".
Game engine is Unreal engine 3 which is pretty decent for shooter games.
Game dont have montly fee (it is free), only future expansions will be payable. There is "boosters" what you can buy (i mean for real money) with which you are getting double exp, credits and sometimes better loot in game, but this is not necessarily for playing game (since game is skill based and not gear/lvl based you will not come in position that you must buy boosters, with them you will just lvling faster and have more ingame currency).
Game also have strategy factor where agencies (aka guild) fights over territories and when they conquer it, it is possible to build defensive/offensive/mining/research facilites for gathering materials.
And yes, i agree that game have some flaws which can be done much better like matchmaking system.
In the end, i wrote all this, simply because to try to explain what game is and what is it not. Coming in this game and expect another "Lord of the rings" is.... well, you are in wrong train then. So, if you enjoy in playing Planetside or Tribes, you will probably enjoy in GA, but if you want elfes then you can wait for a many new MMO's which are coming this year on market.
P.S. Absouletly in any way, i am not affiliate with publishers/developers of GA.
There are far better team combat shooters you can play instead of GA.. loot is the main issue in my opinion. If it had loot similar to borderlands it would be a million times more addictive.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
GA has lots of potential. What finally drove me from the game is the fact that squad level tactics of any depth are pretty much impossible with the fighting centered on a tiny control point, and the player controlled asset model is rather meaningless and non-immersive.. There are so many better ways they could have designed objectives than as a small disk on the floor.

I really dislike posts like this... Global Agenda is the best game ever BECAUSE...???
My gaming blog
Sure it has issues, but with no recuring sub fee and no imbalanced item shop its a great game that I play whenever I fell like plaing a shooter.
Its well worth the 15 bucks imo.
Well said, that was basically my point but you said it with alot less words
