I was not in beta so i dont know if this game needs healers or not. If it does what should i make as a healer?
The game does have healers, you'd be able to go either nature or sorcery. Sorcery has some awesome abilities at the higher levels, Nature is pretty awesome too, and i prefer it, but I've seen some sorcery healers really lay down some extended heals and they can get help from pets by going in the summoning tree.
Its really a matter of preference though, I played a sorcery healer for a bit in beta, and just wasn't very good, but I can keep teams alive as a nature healer. With others, they may not play nature very well. You'll only truly know after you've had the chance to try them both.

I also saw some really good sorcery healers, but I could never get the hang of it. I will, however, be making a nature character because I found it to be quite fun in beta.
I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil
I currently have a Nature healer, which I like quite a bit. I have gone healer with wolf shape change. My weapon is a ranged weapon, so I can fight from range and heal or shape change and fight in melee. It's been a blast so far and fun in PVP.
Dont you find you run out of power stupidly fast? I cant seem to get off 5 heals without running out of power as a 30 sorcerer...
That's why some of those DPSers should turn on thier second skill set of Controlling. It would make things a hell of a lot better for everyone around. The problem is they all want to top the damage charts and don't care if you or someone else dies. Just so long as they don't die.
Sorcery also has a skill called Arbiter of Destiny. It turns you into a giant bat with unlimited power and it's own hot bar loadout for about 45 seconds. Arbiter of Destiny is a supercharge skill.

yeah, I have arbiter but I tend to save it for emergencies - i.e boss fights. Seems a waste to me getting 100% supercharge to heal on trash.

Thats why controllers exist. When I run groups w/ people on my Gadget toon my Healers almost never run out of power. Unless I start getting CC happy and bleed myself too dry to put up my power regen stuff.
The LOL part is when somebody in a Damage role gives you crap because you finished below him on the damage chart in a controller role. I really just want to smack them.

Hey weasel,
You said the damage was toned down some since end of beta. How do healers play in healer role in PvE now? I think you thought it was pointless outside a group before. Has that changed?

They changed this in Beta with roughly 3 weeks to release. Energy used to come from attacks. They got rid of that and now most energy comes from energy baubles from kills.

Not exactly. Controller became power batteries they were not always designed that way. There is a reason they are called controllers and not "power healer". The power bit was just shoehorned in at end of beta. It barely even worked with 2 weeks to go. There will most likely be changes to power over the next few months.
But either way its especially stupid because each controller set has a debuff tree that is vastly enhanced by being in controller role. If you are the debuff tree and using it, 10-20% of that guys (and everyone elses) damage is from your debuffs if you use them.

What difference does it make as to how it was working a month ago. This is how it works now.

In healer role you can take on a fair number of enemies, but with the way energy gain is now its still somewhat dangerous to be out and about on your own in PvE. I've been "forced" into using my healer role in groups lately, especially PvE end game groups, and even though I'm not healer spec'd I can lay down some pretty hefty heals. Damage output is negligible in comparison with other classes. Taking out groups of mobs is doable as long as there isn't a high volume of burst damage, which isn't normal pre level 30 content, but most healers would be better off in damage mode solo still.
The main detriment to the system is energy regen. The only pro I have on that is that nature has a few ways to increase energy regen quickly, though I wouldn't say its very plausible in a solo environment if you have a lot of NPCs targeting you.
I would say without a doubt though, the end game content is almost impossible without some form of healer. You would have to be extremely well organized otherwise.

Because the current implementation had 1 week of testing and is therefore almost guaranteed to not be fully fleshed out.
You are assuming controllers serve a purpose. Perhaps in theory. But there was never enough testing to have that be fully true in practice. Should you get more power if a controller does its power battery chores? Probably, will it work right? No one knows really including the devs.

throw barrels at each other to heal! its how all the cool Super Heroes do it.

It wasn't a popular change.

my only problem is: i can't change during combat to heal ppl.
my power is so limited. healing consumption is so high.
my healing is so weak during combat.
my plan is to get 2 different armor set with high def and one healer. switch it during what role i need to do.
