I'm reading threads that have been censored on the official forums about someone that had decrypted the game data and found that this company was planning to sell items in game that do nothing? Is this true? Did anyone get a copy of the data or have a link to a place I can read about it?
Just to be clear, they are items in game and the devs have been telling people that they do work, but from the data they do not.
Thank you.

First I have heard of it. The russian version of the game is up I believe and is doing quite well from what they say. The EU/US server is still in beta and no word on when it might go live. Will have to keep my eyes open it seems for something about this.
I've followed this story a bit from what I've gathered is this:
-Someone admitted having decrypted the files (could be more people out there as this game has probably one of the lowest security features in place for an MMOG)
-That person posted the info on the forums
-The informations were about the game not showing the "real" stats in game for many items and tanks.
The mods banned the user from forums for a couple days, the informations he posted were backed up by other people on forums that are not part of world of tanks, game hacks forums to be precise, which leads me to think more than one person were able to decypher the game data.
The game data showed for example that certain tanks had less camouflage coefficient than the value given to players in game for example, which would explain why the in-game experience differ from what it would be if the stats provided to players were true.
This is really bad if you ask me specially considering people will actually pay "real" money to acquire those items for the stats showed in game when actually the developpers coded a different value.
Combine this to the huge imbalance between tank era and faction and you get a pretty huge mess on your hands.
some people have supposedly run test that showed the modules you can buy dont actually do anything but i disagree cause i can see a difference on mine. the modules in question are the ones that reduce your reload time and stuff like that, but it only gives a 20 percent faster reload rate and when you are talking about 10 second reload rate what is 20 percent of that, like .5 seconds, so it is hard to measure, but i can see a difference when i play my tanks with those modules versus the ones without. the camo system is also in question but seeing as how the entire spotting system is messed up right now i dont think those tests have much merit at this time. none of this matters really though cause those modules are entirely optional and dont cost real money just ingame money which you earn by playing your tanks so its not like you are spending cash and they wont make a huge difference in your tank. i expect once the free gold from beta ends the modules wont even be used that much cause you dont earn enough money from doing battles to put those modules on your tank just to see them get sold when you upgrade and sell the tank because only three of the modules can be taken off your tank and used on another tank, the rest get sold with the tank and most people arent gonna be converting gold they bought with real life money to get the credits to buy those modules with the bonuses they currently give.
I would Like to add that the premium ammo is a bit to much of an advantage. People that have lots of rl money to spend on this ammo are going to penetrate more armor and do more damage than the people that do not and must use normal AP, HE rounds. I was under the impression that buying gold won't let you buy yourself things that provide an advantage over people that don't.
Oh well. I guess we will see how many actually use this stuff once the gold isn't free anymore.
Currently playing:World of Warcraft, Planetside 2.
Anyone that pays real money for this POS game is getting scammed. I would rather pay for a case of herpes.
Thank you for your insightful words.
I beg to differ though: for me, it's a game of excellent quality - graphics, concept and overall feel is top-notch, it's just the heavy imbalances that need to be fixed.
NEW IDEAS that can refresh the STALE state of MMORPGs

I'm having a great time playing this game.

Ya, me too. Why do people get so worked up? Its just a bunch of people in tanks blowing each other up, and its free to play. Besides which, Im loaded in RL and I'm gonna buy all that premium ammo and roll around naked in it.
