DCOU good powers and powers that just plain suck.

Anyone tried any powers and then found out that they plain suck?

right now i play a Speed movement, Mental power and a Rifle with Joker as my mentor, and i only win like 1/8 of the fights vs ppl many levels lower than me. im lvl 10 atm.

I got one good ability which is the ability Mass Hysteria.

Ive gotten alot of blue gear from Alerts and quests which are lvl 8-10 items and ive filled the other slots with greens.

I then tried a new character which is a Flying, Fire power and a Bow with Lex as my mentor and it seems like it kicks alot more ass. I deal alot more dmg from abilitys and with the bow.

I havent gotten the Illusion skill in the Mental tree yet and i havent tried telekinesis yet so that may do the trick...

any input on what powers are good and which is bad since i dont think its pretty balanced atm...

I played mental for a few weeks in beta and tried it again at release. From my experience, you might want a faster weapon (like handblasters) and if you're running around solo, spec telekinesis.

Fire/bow is pretty raging at the moment. Heck, fire/anything is pretty raging. Jumping on that bandwagon this early on may not be advisable, though, at least 'til we see how the dev team handles balancing.

I hesitate to say more than that as I don't have a level 30 yet, and that's where the balance counts..

    Playing: FFXIV, EVE

I was doing good with martial arts and mental for awhile but eventually I had to go to hit and run tactics as I would get destroyed by faster weapons.  And, the skills I don't really get either.  I have damage one that doesn't do much, one that basically makes me immune to stuns (or is supposed to), and on that is supposed to stun the enemy or something.  Then a super one where I transform and get a bunch of spirits.

And, well flying seems to get a pretty big advantage in fighting right now.  Even though everyone slows down in combat in open pvp they can just used ranged weapons not near a building making it hard for some powers to do anything to them(especially when they have melee weapons).

They are all pretty decent.  I think Fire is consistently considered to be both powerful and easy to play, and the most likely candidate for a nerf.

Nature is really good(Plants).  Mental (Tele) is really good.  Sorcery is supposedly really good if the player knows what they are doing.

I've seen lots of people having success w/ Ice and Gadgets.  Gadgets does have some really terrible powers, like the turrets.

The weapons all have their strengths and weaknesses.  They did a solid job of balancing them, and you can have good success w/ any combination if you know how the combat system works.

It's as balanced as I've ever seen a game at launch.  I'd be willing to guess that your troubles are directly related to your playing style.

just rolled one myself just now :)  have a 30 acro/gadget/rifle,  I love it and rifle but I think dual pistol is better if you want to go the control path.

Have handblaster/mind and love it, so much utility was expecting more control but got quite a bit more damage then I had thought. Now playing a nature/dual pistols, gone for a mix of med and control with a barrier (love the pistols soooo much) and if I get the jump nothing lives :p I've found some Ice players difficult to beat and fire are lethal as secondary damage if you're 1v2.

Tbh I've found the most overwhealming factor in pvp has been peoples ability to play their char, I got jumped by a guy 2 lvls lower than me and he did little damage but ended up wiping the floor with me, at the end of the fight he had full hp and half a power bar, very impressive control and patience.
