Final Fantasy XIII-2 {2011 release}

Well, I was kinda hoping the rumors were not true, not that I didn't enjoy the story of XIII and would like to see more, I just hope this one doesn't have the straigtht paths and no world map or towns dilema that XIII suffered from.  A not so good video can be seen here.   I like Lightnings new armor, and I have no idea who the other guy is yet!

  • Sigh, they already did X-2.. why would they make that mistake again.

There was a rule once; and that was to only do 1 game for each story. At least for the classical FF, taking tactics and other stuff for handhelds aside.

    Seriously..

Shouldnt Squenix be focusing on trying to fix XIV? Why cant we have a new (good) Secret of Mana or Chrono Trigger game? They need to show they have learnt from the mistakes of the last few games and then make a great XV, not remind us of X-2, what is wrong with this company?

Not that I support XIII-2 (I'd rather have XV), but these are completely different teams. That's like saying the WoW team did Starcraft 2.

no matter how many ff they release, none will beat ff7 :( i think they just need to remaster ff7 with 2011 graphics and maybe add zack's story in the begining

Bah, IV and VI are way better...   Zeromus & Kefka are far better villians than emo Sephiroth.

It seems to me that the entire company has a problem, though XIIIs problems are less acute than XIVs there are some similarities, mainly not realising industry or player trends, and expectations. And there is the overall decline away from gameplay to artistic and cinematic for over a decade, why don’t they just become a film company?

Considering cocoon is destroyed and pulse was an open environment. FF X-2 was a very open game too I think FF XIII-2 will be open too. So the biggest problem a lot of people had with 13 will propably be fixed in 13-2.

And people should stop talking about remaking FF7, it was a good game but they would have to change a lot of things to make it apeal to new players. As always everyone lives in the past thinking how great it was and not seeing it's flaws.

I would kill for a worthy sequel to secret of mana and chrono trigger.

Imagine... a state of the art title sequence involving the flamingos, the mana tree and the music re-done in epic orchestral... sigh.

An then imagine a chrono-trigger remake, think of all those amazing scenes, the dinosaurs, the battles against Magus, the post-apocalypse future, the Zeal location, the (spoiler) death of Chrono etc.

Square-Enix, oh yeah....the company that pulled an EA games and decided to buy some game studios just so they can claim credit over the zero work they did to help a title.

Remember, the founder to Square Soft (Square Co. LTD) right now only owns 6% of Square-Enix. The first Final Fantasy Game that Square-Enix made jointly was Final Fantasy XII. FFX-2 was released in Japan March 2003 while the Square-Enix Merger was finalized in April, 2003.

Here is a list of the Shareholders :)

    http://www.square-enix.com/eng/ir/stock/shareholder.html

Take notice that the Founder of Enix owns over 20% of the company while even SONY owns more of Square-Enix than the FOUNDER does...:) Which to me says "Square is Dead" and has been acting as a Puppet Company for the last few years. Think about it like this....How many Final Fantasy Games were made under Square-Enix completely not counting spinoffs...The answer is 2. FFXII and FFXIII. There are several spinoffs too on PSP. Between 1997 and 2003 Square had made FF7 - FFX-2 along with Final Fantasy Tactics.

Like I've said....Square pretty much is dead and to me, the best thing for Square itself would be to go independent and find a way to retain their rights to final fantasy and start something new. Thanks to Digital Distribution services, they don't need to run heavy costs on bring hard copies to the store and can work on downloadable content and even make games for PCs too, while Enix can continue running Square straight through the ground as the square side of the company has done little to nothing in the way of being a software developer.

I remember FFX-2 as one of the most pointless and stupid gaming experiences of my life - and I'm a girl (I think maybe it was aimed at 6-year-old girls though....). A friend who is also a FF-fan bought it and gave it to me, and then refused to take it back.

Mind you I couldn't play past the first three hours of FFXIII, the linearity and cheesy dialogue made it feel like a parody, so I don't know how it could be, er, disimproved upon.

I wish they'd go back to the old formulas of the early days of the franchise. Redo IV-VIII with up to date graphics, and profit.

Final Fantasy fanboys are even more retarded than Sony and M$ fanboys.

But as long as their games sell, I'd keep trolling them too if I were SE.

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

Squaresoft is dead, it died when they merged with Enix.

THe best games that squaresoft ever made were:

top 1: Xenosaga, FF7, FF6, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross (Top-Notch Products)

    top 2: Tales of Phantasia, FF5, FF4, ff8, ff9

top 3: put whatever you want

last place: ffX-XllI, FF14+ and all coming ff-games

basicly Square died when they merged to Square-Enix, Sagaguchi and Hiroshi...(dont remeber the name) left and the PS2 came out.

The only game i would download now would be  Chrono Chross X and remake of ff7. Even if they call it FF7-2

Peace Squaresoft, all good things come to an end.
