I also discussed what I felt the next expansion will be. Just because you felt like concentrating on something that offended you (weird as that may sound), is not my problem.
This will be my last reply. You've derailed this conversation enough.
Blizzard surprised everyone when they stated in 2009 they would launch Cata and redo the old Azeroth world.
No one expected it and it was never done on this scale before.
TBC Outland was certainly a new thing (outside of Azeroth), the return to Northrend was a bit more predictable but mounted combat and siege mechanics were again surprising.
Next on the list could be the explosion of the planet Outland and the adventures throughout Northrend changed.
That sounds logical enough. Along with a new invasion planet to replace Outland.
Imagine a third faction being brought into the game from that planet.
With Blizzard's gold everything is possible.
Thats what i also think too, Outland to be revamped (all quests reset, so everyone will have to redo them again), maybe another island zone put in, level cap raised by 5 too. Probably also be seen alot quicker, say somtime from Nov this year to May 2012 (thats about a year and a half after cata).
I would very much like to believe the "leaked" report of future Blizzard projects. Apparently the document was leaked from a Chinese source ... and they did replace the Chinese CEO within a week after those leaks.
In it you find that the next expansion is planned for the 2nd Q of 2012. That is quite possible, since Gregg Street said CATA took too long to develop (around 6 months too long). So Cata wa sinitially planned for May/june 2011. They really had no content prepared to bridge that 6 months gap.
-
We will know it soon enough, since in that report it was stated that WOW Brazil would be launched in 2nd Q of 2011.
EDIT: I would LOVE to believe this planning, because I would very much like to play ... the Computer Collectable Card game (planned in 2012). Wizards of the Coast screwed up their Magic Computer game by having difficulties with their infrastructure (but it was an amazing success up until 2007). Odd no one mentions this as it shows up on the same leaked documents.
CATA perfected the phasing by creating much smaller distances in which players still see each other. So far that (mostly) players within 10-20 meters distance from each other still see each other.
"Bottom line, you can't help each other unless you're on the same quest line"
That remark was also true in the old days when nothing changed to the worlds. If you were not on the same step of those long questing lines, your quests couldn't be shared.
You couldn't share the quests, sure, but if I had a friend who needed to kill Monster X, but I had already done that quest, I could still go with him and help him kill Monster X. We could still play together and actually help each other out where needed. Monster X wasn't "invisible" to me because he was already dead in my "phase" thus making it impossible for me to help my friend kill him or anything like that.
But that aside and more on topic, I agree completely with the Emerald Dream being a big focus in the next xpac. It makes the most sense at least.
A new GFX engine, at least one that looks anyone near as good as Crysis, is pretty much just not going to happen; a big appeal of WoW is that it can be played on non-gaming PC's and laptops with a reasonable framerate.
Honestly, I don't see the graphics having any sort of major overhaul for years to come.
Not that I really care, but I also think the Emerald Dream will be the next expansion.. Everyone thought it was gonna be the next expansion before cata was announced..
As for what it would include,,, I'd guess one new regular playable class and a new heroic class.. Blizz has to do something big to keep the millions and millions of fans interested.. There are a few decent MMO's due out this year and next year that will lure wow fans away.. So in order for WOW to stay afloat past 2012, something major needs to be done.. However, Blizzard understands this which is why they are developing a new MMO.. They see WOW wont be on top much longer especially with quality mmo's due out soon... WOW's time is going to quickly come to and end by the end of this year..

QFT in all honesty WoW didn't get popular because of graphics. I don't ever see them emphasizing this either, and rightly so. Graphics should be way down on the lists of games to focus on (especially mmos).
Anyways I personally don't know enough lore about this game to comment on the focus of it, I didn't even know who deathwing was until the cata was released.
Also i'm pretty sure they will stick with the same setup as usual as its worked in the past. Realistically I don't see any of the newer mmos coming out to be much of a threat to WoW just like most of the post WoW mmos have been much of a threat.
The new expansion will be called 'Wrath of the Burning Crusading Cataclysmic Outland',
it will feature 12 new levels, (people didn't like only five from the last xpac), two new islands in outland to level, (because people don't like moving much to level) and also a fabulous new system for the four dungeons that's released!
Blizzards all about choice, so now you can do dungeons in normal mode. Then if your really awesome you can try heroic mode! After that you can try HARD mode dungeons and then only for the truly 'omfgepix' players you can attempt HEROIC HARD mode!!!!!!!!!* (*all modes must be completed/gear gained from HEROIC HARD mode before even attempting raiding)
Also they'll be 16 new raids, all featuring just one boss in them, (because people don't like spending hours in a raid wiping on bosses, they need to know quickly if others, 'suck', so this system is perfect!). Also you'll need to complete the first raid in all four of the modes above and gain the right gear before progressing to the next one.
They'll be a new hero class called 'Blue Post B***h', who has special abilites to track blue posts and has a number of powerful spells, including an ability that instantly opens a Blizzard forum page and bitterly attacks the developers for nerfing a certain class. This class is an 'optional extra', that can be purchased from the Blizzard store.
Also they'll be a new flying donkey/pig avaliable from the Blizzard store but you must hurry to purchase. As it's a digital item, it's limited supply!!

Do me a favor and scroll back to ... 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010.
The only games better than WOW have always been the unpublished ones. The moment games hit Beta test, they fall apart before the spoiled public eyes. And I am not even talking about the "fan base" of Blizzard.
Please don't come up with yet newer games. FF14 was new, DC U Online was new, the moment people lay a hand on them they are screwed (both). Of course something can come along, but I don't see anything in the west that will hold anything above 700K subs in the long run.
And each new hype will kill off the other one too. The only game that will be bought in masses is GW2, but for 90% because it is free to further play, the same kind as Diablo 3.
I think Diablo 3 is even more of a thread to ~ 25% of actual WOW subscriptions than any of these so called "quality" games.

On topic: the next expansion will be launched along with all previous content and expansions in ONE big box of 19.99 dollars. (kind of super battle chest).
Whatever the content it will sell like hot cakes. But a third faction living on another "Outland" planet (with Outland destroyed) would be awesome and a boom !

Yeah they redid it all right, made questing more interesting as far as story goes but they also made everything so mind numbing easy mode now that I don't know for how much longer I am going to be able to take seeing a mob that used to be elite and provide a challenge run up to me solo and talk major shit and I kill it with a few swipes of my sword. Where is the challenge in that? When does grouping return in cata outside the dungeons? I am hoping the challenge and need for groups will return in Outland and beyond? Please for the love of god ! If in Outland things are still this way I will be done with WoW for good I imagine. All WoW has become now is a dungeon running game and a gear grind. 11 million people online but you never see anyone in the open world areas because they are all in instances doing dungeon grinding to get better gear so they can keep dungeon grinding over and over again into oblivion....As far as the next expansion goes...I don't see how they can dumb down this game any further than it already is so I'm not really interested. My love for WoW has just about died completly. Perhaps they will add a button you hit to magically transform one to lvl 90 in an instant... Surprised they havent done that already. Sheesh.
Are you - by any chance - a stand up comedian without a job ?

You must be a German then.
is that bad or something? I'm german and I kinda laughed
There's nothing bad in being German. Much like there's nothing wrong with being a mid thirties Frenchman who sees it as he's mission in life to defend WoW on this forum. Nothing wrong in it at all :P
As for the discussion about phasing, i think the original point is that phasing is BETTER than full instancing. It is from a point of immersion in the sense that in an instance you are suddenly alone in your own world (that rocks for dungeons and it is not bad per se) while in phasing, the rest of the world is still there and you can still see other people (at least in some cases, I think the difference is if the phase change the LANDSCAPE, like in stonetalon mountain where a whole night elf tree school is blown up to kingdom come... there you cannot see other people not in the same step as you, but if the phase does not involve terrain changes like in westfall, then you can see others).
Instancing, however, has the advantage of groups. Even people not on the quest or that have already completed it can join in your group and enter the instance. This work the same way in wow when WoW use instances, like for dungeons. But in SW:TOR these will be used also for the personal storylines, so making bringing a friend easy if wanted.
Which one is better is a matter of preference I believe.
AS for the Emerald Dream, yes, it has been mentioned several time, however, there are already quests in the game in which you enter the Emeral Dream... finding yourself in a copy of the same cave you were before, only with a green tint.
The Emerald Dream is still Azeroth... but theoretically it is supposed to be the BluePrint from which the world is made... as such, how many differences there would be? Would the Emerald Dream be a primordial Azeroth as it was made by the Titans? (so a single, Pangea like continent and all covered by lush vegetation) or would it be more in line to what is Azeroth is now?
The first option is quite exciting, I admit, after futuristic Outlands and Northern Middle Ages Northrend, we would have a Equatorial Primitive Continent. The second option, however, is not :P
So I hope they would go with the first!
