You didnt put in an option for both!!
Have to have both if they let you on the same PvP server. How else are you supposed to infiltrate and subvert the enemy. Spying and providing false information is key to kicking one sides ass in contested zones.
I'll be playing as Guardian. I'm not a big fan of Defiant's story and environment.
I will remain Defiant till the end, about the choice of Guardian! : )
To ensure a sense of us versus them hopefully you will only be able to play one faction per server and not be able to talk to the other side.
defiant here....i never play the "good" side in any game
maybe thats why i hate all palladin classes

Hmm, we had this poll a week or two back. It came out skewed. It was like 53% defiant or something.(Poll)
Then again when I did the race poll, it came out the same. Methinks this site doesn't reflect the community.(Poll)
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

Defiants have one of the more original and unexpected stories ive ever seen in a fantasy mmorpg. Travellers in time trying to undo the mistakes of the past and avoid doom for all telara...just like terminators with soul trees.. how cool is that?
I picked Guardian but unles they tone down the Kealri racial, or buff up the others, I may have to go Defiant.

I don't think one person on here has one clue about the lore.
1. Defiants are MUCH MORE ZEALOTS than Guardians. Read the lore. Learn for yourselves.
2. Both sides are "good" guys. The Defiants have committed some pretty heinous acts to get stuff accomplished. They admit it's wrong, but don't care. IE end justifies the means
3. Both sides have "bad people". Both sides have "good people".
The whole thing boils down to religion. Defiants are anti-religion. The Guardians are pro-religion. They can't agree on anything and the Guardians have issue with the Defiants using forbidden technology. We later find out much of the Defiant technology is actually HELPING Regulos. They don't know this and refuse to listen to reason from a Guardian.
So you have the religious conservatives versus the rebellious emo. Based on what we saw in beta, there will be about twice as many Defiant as Guardian. This site is a bad example as the poles I've seen do not match the beta numbers or any of the poles on the RIFT site.
There were shards that had more Guardians than Defiants. I can think of one in particular during beta. All the other shards had more Defiant than Guardian. I guess emo rebellious is more popular than conservative conformity. That seems to fit society in NA at least...

Guardian. I perfer the look and I cannot stand the steampunk of the Defiant. I'm an aeitheist by choice and while my toon will respect the obvious existence of more powerful beings, he will not worship them. One of the main reasons that my main will be a Necromancer, aside from being a fun class, he exploits death, but doesn't worship it.
Besides, the thought of enslaving souls to power Defiant machines is beyond repulsive.

Defiant since both sides have the same classes and I want to take advantage of having a couple of toons crafting if I have them on opposite sides the crafting will be double the work.
Guardian, The religious fanaticism is going to be fun to role play with.
Usually I'm contra religion and pro science, and the defiant story is better by far (I love the Terminator style prolog :P), but I've a problem with acting evil.
