I'm gonna to give Rift a try

VallistaVallista Member UncommonPosts: 282

After weeks of looking into Rift I'll will give it a try on launch.  I see no reason not to.  Every mmo I've ever played has been a good one.  I started with Daoc played that for 4 years, Still in my opinion the best mmo of all time.  Then I moved over to world of warcraft, played that for 6 years off and on.  I really like it but in my opinion Blizzard went away from its true concept of the game.  if you must know, When I first started wow, blizzard was gonna balance the content of pve and pvp but after Burning Crusade Blizzard direction was to pve instead of the balance they promised.  Then there was Blizzard decision to allow players to have both alliance and horde characters on the same server.  This really made no sense to me, mainly because I thought the concept of the game was to have the two factions go against each other and not hold hands, but in my opinion this really destroy core idea of the game.  Does anyone really see a difference between Alliance and Horde now?  Its doesn't matter what side a players picks its just the same thing.  Well that is what I see anyways, making the whole point of factions pointless. They let go of the idea of world pvp altogether and went to arenas, battlegrounds, and etc.  Don't get me wrong when it comes to pve content Blizzard is ahead of everyone and will be a soild game for couple more years.  After 6 years of wow its time for a change.  I believe Rift will have the change I want.  After watching youtube videos and getting some great reviews I'll be making the jump.  I'm gonna hope the Trion will keep the core concept of the game and will do their best to produce high quailty of content for Rift.

...I don't get where you are coming from.

    A. Rifts playstyle is very close to WoW, so not much of a change.

    B. They aren't balancing classes in Rift.

    C. As far as I know you can play both sides on the same server.

So, you don't like apples so you are going to try an apple?

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

So basicly you haven't played Rift is what your trying to say?

And you come to this conclusion how?

Definitely try Rift. I am glad I did, and I am sure you will feel the same way.

    A. Rifts playstyle is very close to WoW, so not much of a change.  - AND THIS IS WHY I LIKE RIFT...IT'S AN ALTERNATIVE TO WOW.

    B. They aren't balancing classes in Rift. - THE SOUL SYSTEM IS DIFFERENT AND I AM GLAD THAT IT ISN'T THE COOKIE CUTTER STYLE LIKE THE REST.

    C. As far as I know you can play both sides on the same server. - IN BETA YOU CAN...NOT SURE ABOUT LAUNCH.

So, you don't like apples so you are going to try an apple?  - THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT TYPES OF APPLES...SOME BETTER THAN OTHERS.

A.Plays like wow?  where you getting that from?

B.Balancing classes?  What is considered balance?  Your interpation or who's?

C.Really..? Has this been conformed or your making stuff up?

apples?  I may like apples but I love bananas.

  • I didn't play the beta for long, but it WAS very WoW'ish. I enjoyed it overall, especially the wide variety of class combinations, but it did remind me a lot of WoW.

Calling it a WoW clone is just an easy way out for people that have never played Rift..

Scott actually enjoys people thinking about the balance challenges, as he feels that people are thinking of ways that combinations could end up being “too much fun” and that their stance is that they don’t even really want the system to be perfectly balanced.

They really aren't going to try that hard to balance the game.

It would be nice if players that didn't like the game to come out with legit issues instead of saying "Its wowish" your not fooling anyone.  I don't mind people have real gripes with a game but to us the "it plays like wow" card is just weak.  News flash wow played a lot like daoc and eq when it first came out.

The experience of playing Rift is different from the experience of playing WoW, even if some of the game mechanics are the same. It could be no other reason than Rift is brand new.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

It just doesn't make sense to list things you don't like about a game and then go play a game that has those same issues.

I suppose, since it's new, and Rifts core principles are the things he doesn't like, they won't stray, and maybe it's the straying he doesn't like...

    Um, good for you?

There are going to be about a bazillion other people who are going to try it too, let's hope they don't all feel the need to create a new thread about it...

Or, are you just special and this should matter?
