Things you'd like to see in the game

Randomness helps to spice up gameplay. In a game like 40k, there should be massive amounts of random events happening that can add a lot of content to the game. WAR's public quest system and Rifts random monster invasions via rifts I think are a great idea and could fit very will in DMO. Imagine playing as an Ork, running around and questing when a random Space Marine or Guard assault happens. Drops pods falling from the sky, tanks being air-lifted in, next thing you know you're fighting a Space Marine captain or Imperial Guard general, or Eldar Autarch. Or playing as a Space Marine and suddenly a chaos gate opens and all sorts of monstrosities start flooding into your area, and its up to you and the players in the zone to fight off the invasions before they overrun the outposts.

It sounds a lot like rift but I *love* the idea of random events helping to shake up gameplay. Like space hulks - the corridors could all be randomly generated so the player would never be doing dungeon-reruns for gear. It turns one dungeon into an unlimited number of dungeons, all with randomly generated loot.

How about orks setting up random settlements on the planets that can be used as waypoints for the orders of destruction? This will always provide ample opportunity for the zones to be invaded by opposing factions. Nobody is safe ever.

Couldn't you just imagine doing a quest and then all of a sudden a skirmish breaks out between Marines and Orks? You could chose to ignore the skirmish and be on your way, or you could participate and get some XP and loot to go with it.

I'd like to see more ''exotic'' playable factions on the Imperium side. Inquisition, Sisters of Battle, Officio Assassinorum...

  • UnicornicusUnicornicus Member Posts: 235

I agree. Especially with the sisters of battle. Since they probably wont let you have a female space marine. (though Ill be on the orks side beating up the space marines super soldiers in armed combat.

I want a great many things from this game, fortunately I do not expect to get the vast majority of them.

I would like to get a game with a true open world, balanced "classless" system, ridiculously large numbers of factions and options, detailed player based crafting, an intricate economy, lots of tools for "player generated content", signigicant risk and loss from death, dynamic world reactions and quest spawns, NO instances at all after the tutorial; and probably a few more besides.

What I *expect* and will be happy with: A very derivative modern MMO with many of the features and gameplay of games like WoW, AoC and LotRO. It will be a themepark much moreso than a sandbox, but hopefully it will be well implemented. On the good days I am hoping for WAR done right...on the bad days I suspect it will be a dismal failure of a WoW-knock off.

Free style action combat in an open RvR setting.

    • I would like thier faction system to be based on an icy allaince. I would like the opposing side to be able to go on sabotage pve missions that would temporarily break the allaince of a faction resulting in open pvp between the factions of that side.

    • I would like if they took the Public Quest system from WAR and actually implimented it to its fullest rather than a quick slap together like WAR had.

    • I would like a system where items didnt dictate power as much as they did prestige and looks of a character.

    • I would like an area control system that involved much more than zerging keeps...it was lame in DAOC and it will always be lame.

    • I would like Epic pve battles that act like PQs so you can participate without being in some lame raid guild.

    • I would like actiony combat that incorperates an aim and shoot system without making it a full 3rdPS/FPS

    • I would like FULLY DEVELOPED non combat activities that are engaging and profitable

    • Kick ass vehicles that launch bolters and lasers and rockets and missles and (insert projectile here)

    • I would like beautifully tailored and immersive environments for exploration and combat. Cant stress the importance of non generic and awesome environments enough.

    I would like to see...
    1. A lot of player customization.
    2. As many races as they can possibly put out on release. Space Marines, Orks, Eldar, and Imperial Guard. Later may come Tau, Necrons, and Tyranids.
    3. Everything attainable ingame no exclusives. Just because I didn't pre-order the game doesn't mean I cant have the same opportunity ingame to get what the pre-order people got. We are paying the same amount of cash for the game the only thing they did was buy it before I did.
    4. A lot of vehicle customization.
    5. Customization options for players to look like sub-faction characters. For example. Imperial Guard's Death Korps of Krieg or the Space Marine's Space Wolves.

They've already mentioned a few of the things already listed here, but I want something new out of this game. I'm sick of unorganized little scrubs running around like headless chickens doing jack-all to help the fight. Make an option to surrender your movement to the "Squad" that you're in such that you automatically move in formation with the squad leader. That way, you can move on your own if you really want, but people can at least be told "Join the squad so you don't die."

The most important thing we need is differences between factions, from the most basic to the most complex. The Imperium armies are totally diferent from the Eldar, Tau, Necrons, Orks....etc, even the space marines are different from the imperial guard in tactics and armory. An example of basic different would be that the technomarines craft their brother's armors and the orks salvage the wrecks after the battle to stick the armor plates on their filthy skins

And of course, a lot of factions. Even if the developers want alliances between factions they should consider them. The Space Marines, Sisters of Battle and Imperial Guard may be allied together, but they usually don't fight together, with exceptions like human hives or significant planets for each faction.

There should be at least two different enviroments. Space and ground. I would add a third enviroment like planets which nowadays are owned by some faction and it's not possible to attack them (at least by now) like Terra or the Eye of Terror

The armors should be very customizable to reflect the beauty of Games Workshop's designs

And of course, the worlds should be vast enough to need a vehicle to travel around them or the leave them.

And finally, the players should own things ingame, I propose the following example:

    - Players: Vehicles and atmospheric vehicles

    - Guilds (Chapters): Buildings and starships

    - Alliances (Legions): Planets and cities

PS And I don't want to exchange chips or some kind of currency for equipment after the PVP, the equipment may be crafted or taken from the enemy. I don't want to see "Hey, I killed two orks, now I have 150 chips, yeah!!"

I would like it if the game got stuck in development hell and never gets unleashed on the public, its supposed to be a cold and dark universe not WoW happy  fun land.

    Currently playing:

EVE online (Ruining low sec one hotdrop at a time)

    Gravity Rush,
    Dishonoured: The Knife of Dunwall.

    (Waiting for) Metro: Last Light,
    Company of Heroes II.

I have not been following the lore very closely since I was a kid. Are geanstealers still about? Anyway, Geanstealers, Terminator armour and space hulks. Then I will probably spend some money on it.

  • freakishbeanfreakishbean Member UncommonPosts: 176

Genestealers and Termagaunts are still primary troops for 'Nids, and Terminators still run around aplenty. Space Hulks are still in 40k as well - in fact, they re-released the Space Hulk boardgame under the Blood Angel chapter.

It's almost guranteed that Space Hulks will be in the game.

Also, adding to my list of what I'd like to see crafting wise: Customized ammunition. Loading extra explosives into a bolt round, armor piercing rounds, Hellfire rounds and incendiary rounds. Shoot stuff, blow it up, and set it on fire! I think this could be extremely easy to implement - when you fire, you get a select amount of bolter shells back, empty of course. With these empty shells you, you can aquire ingrediants to make specialized ammo types (and maybe depending on the quality of the ingrediant will bolster the power of the round). Take the shells and ingrediants to a tech-marine or techpriest and they can refill your bolt casings allowing you to effectively recycle your ammunition.

Unless it changes from here till launch, you will be getting Imperial warhound Titans. At least, this has been confirmed in an interview that they are in fact player controlled.

All i know is that I want to see Tyranids (AS A PLAYABLE RACE) sooooooooooooooooo bad. I can kind sort of think of a way you could do it. Basicly you play as a Tyranid the Tyranid IS your character but you are actually the hive mind or at least part of the

consciousness. Dawn of war 2 DID imply their is a kind of voice whether there is or isnt would be up to GW. I think not but I do think they messages the Hive mind want's to convey tot he Tyranids CAN be formed as a "voice" for the sake of the player.

As far as gear goes I think they should do THIS anyways. Basicly there will be light medium and heavy armor which will be kind blank. Example

your a tyranid warrior grouped with I don't know some Necrons and a chaos space marine some heavy shoulders drop their called shoulder of the shooty thingy bombs. who ever win the roll get them and it changes the look based on the race NOT the item.

Oh here is how the story could make sense. The hive mind feels it is in a kind of grid lock war and gainig more and more enemies that are more willing to team up against it then fight each other. the hive mind decides to try and communicate with the Chaos the only army that pretty much connects itself to the warp so much so they even pull out creatures thus making them easy to communicate with. The hive mind wants some of the new planets in this new galaxy and pledges a kind of cold truce a kind of I WILL eat you some day but till then we would like your assistance.

OR... make this a 3faction game with the Tyranids AND Necrons working together I could totally see them working together IF the Ctan didn't out right MAKE the Tyranids (more or less breed them). I mean the tyranids DO shut out the warp the very weapon MADE to KILL the Ctan. WOW 3 factions SO MUCH PVPING and some epic raiding I want to see THAT.

I want to see Table top WH40k made into multiplayer screaming 3D technicolor and not some lame themepark rip off sharing nothing in common with the source material except art style and name.

I can almost agree with you, if they are going to make it look like wow then just do everyone a favor drop the project. Only do it if it is going to be 40k not some bastard son of wow. And free for all side warfare!!!!! Eldar and humans F that I want to kill them, I hate eldar. And don't forget everyone favorite moral officer!! Nothing says bonus to attack like executing a player it gives a bonus.

    QFE

SoB were the only reason I bought and played DoW:Soustorm.

I don't know what it is about Nuns with Guns and Flamethrower Tanks, but they are just awesome and definitely should be in this game too.

    Adding further to this list.

    • Plenty of secondary activities to break up the sameness the main game.

    • Space Hulks!

    • Content in space

    • Options for helmet on or off

    • PvP objectives that are achievable by smaller groups that will impact the game significantly. (raiding caravans, assulting resources, attacking com stations etc.)

    • a pve system that didnt rely on the "kill 10" style questing. I mean seriously, that style is old and tired and needs t be putout of its misery.

I've always been a huge fan of the books never really played the actual tabletop game, so for me I'd like to see flashback missions that allow you to play as one of Gaunt's Ghosts or play critical missions during the Horus Heresy along side the Emperor or against him with the traitor legions; or with the Cadians during the Black Crusades with Abaddon the Despoiler coming out of the Eye of Terror. If they had that then they would have my money :).

edit: oh yea and another vote for Tyranids and Necrons being there from the start :)

I'd like to see guilds that owned vehicles get the chance to upgrade the vehicles. Say a Predator Tank or Leman Russ with a twin linked Lascannon as opposed to a a single auto cannon. I can definatly see a guild having a resource pool that acts as currency, and can use this to upgrade it's fleet of vehicles though an imperial quartermaster, supply master or somesuch. Also, guildhalls - start small with an imperial barracks/monastary and upgrade it, the more upgrades it gets the better the benefits for the guild members. The more upgrades it gets, the more purity seals (stat boosts) that a character can attatch to their character.

I use a lot of guard/marine references because those are the armies I played tabletop wise. Don't know much about anything in terms of Eldar or Orks.

What I really want from this game is an innoative MMO that takes the complexity of the WH40k world and create something that's not exactly like every other MMO out there... oh, and if it were up to me, this game would be a FPS ala PlanetSide, but with more and better content :) Though we all know that's not going to happen so.. useless input.. :P

Other than that I just want the "too much to shoot at" feeling..

    Multiple Space Marine Chapters....

I just wanna play a damn Space Wolf.

Also I am willing to bet that Nids will not be a playable race, but you never know.

This game has such potential if they build in some kind of crazy customization system for the factions.

For Example. You can play Imperium...but....you can customize your character to an inner faction.

Also, rumors point to a two faction game..
