GAME are very reliable in my experience, never let me down.

I emailed Game a couple of days ago with the following questions:

    1.  Will the game be available in Game stores as well as online.  If so, when will it arrive in the stores?

    2.  Will the game be available as a retail box or digital download?

    3.  How and when will Game distribute the codes required for the headstart scheduled for 24th February, and the VIP key required to play in the remaining beta tests?

I rang my local Game store and they have no listing for Rift as of last Saturday.  Once I receive the answers to the above I will post here and on Rift forums.

You could always preorder from Rifts homepage unless you want the option to cancel before launch.

The digital download from Trion costs £10 more than the equivalent edition from Game.

And do not forget it's digital vs box that includes custom 8GB USB drive and mouse pad. /me wants.

If someone knows that ordering from game allows you to take part in beta / early start or not, please let us know.

No need to preorder, you wont die if you are not there on launch day. Wait for the reviews, then make your decision.

For some unknown reasons digital downloads are always more expensive than buying the retail box.

I hate having boxes around, I want all my games digitally. That's why I love Steam but they are games are usually more expensive compared to boxes but hey they are digitial purchases so they should be more expensive for some reason.

I rarely preorder and especially with mmos wait for the server problems to be fixed and starter area rush hour to be over before joining myself. I think I'm going to make exception with rift as the beta has been very promising and I've already decided to quit my current subscription next month. I'm sure rift will be worth 50€ to me even if it won't deliver much more than we're already seeing in the beta. I'm having fun and can't wait for the next round of beta! So please keep info coming where to get rift CE box, thank you :)

I will buy it from game.co.uk as their price is very good. CE is £39.99 and standard edition is £24.99. I myself never buy CE because I hate boxes and all the stuff that comes in it. I just want the game :)

I have received a reply from Game to my email asking about whether the game as distributed by them is digital or retail box, available only online or also in shops, and what they are planning to do about VIP beta keys and headstart code.

    Here is the unsatisfactory reply:

"The issue you have raised is unknown to GAME and we recommend you visit the publisher’s website to solve your question(s).

Contact details are usually found on the packaging of the game, but if you have lost any of these details they can be found on the company's website."

    I have responded thus:

"Trion's website refers customers to individual retailers as their methods of distribution will vary.

I suggest that a represenative from Game makes some effort to clarify this situation as there are many posts on the forums for Rift asking for clarification from Game (as well as from other distributors)."

and will let people know when/if I receive any further information.

It should be retail box as they're stating it comes with the usb drive and mouse pad. If not, it's false advertising.

I'm interested in that usb drive as I'm buying those every now and then anyway so it's making the game's price even cheaper. I haven't yet preordered because I want also that headstart code with cheaper subscription price. That's even more off the game's price making it a sweet deal.

Only the collector's edition comes with the usb drive and mouse pad; the standard edition, however, offers the VIP key for access to all betas, and headstart code.

hehe, I agree with you shassell, it's just that I find the confusion about what they are offering annoying.  Would be nice if a retailer had some clarity about the products they are selling, but I suppose with this sort of thing it's more complicated than it seems?  Don't know why that should be the case, though.

Zavvi has just listed the Collectors edition for an already bargain price of £37 considdering in USA it  is the equivlant of £50! - http://www.zavvi.com/games/platforms/pc/rift-collectors-edition/10308587.html.

However if you follow instructions here http://www.hotukdeals.com/vouchers/15-off-video-games-cds-dvds-and-blu/850475 you can get a 15% off code for Zavvi which lowers the price down to just £32!!

Considerring you get an 8GB key worth about £8 and a steelseries mousepad worth about £10 this is such a bargain it is unreal!
