Ive been playing ShadowBane since release, and well the game is about done with me as I am with it and im looking for something new.  So I looked at this awhile back at release but I heard it had to many problems back then (but what game doesnt) and I figured I would try it out now.  But I have a couple of questions first.  Is it like you can  be sith or jedi? cause I noticed you could be a jedi. And I also noticed that in all the screenshots I seen I didnt see anyone using a lightsaber and that would be a  big reason I play this game so can you actually use a lightsaber in this game?  Also what is the leveling like? Is there a max level and how hard is the leveling.  Last question what is the PvP system like I play my games to PvP and I gotta have some kinda PvP freedom, is it full PvP or what?

 Thanx

Assuming we are talking about Star Wars Galaxies here and not "ShadowBane", whatever that is.

Yes, you can definitely possess and use a lightsaber if you become Jedi. See another section of this forum on detailed info of how to become Jedi.

You can be light and dark jedi. The later is more or less assumed to be the Sith ... or better, their followers as there are only 2 Sith. Do a google search for an excellent in game movie called "The Sith Code" and you will see the Dark Jedi in all their glory in action.

The leveling to Padawan is interesting and quest based and as reward you get a free second character on this server. The leveling of jedi from there  is insane and incredibly boring ... about 50 % of the player burn out from it and leave the game disgusted.

Maximum level is Jedi Master Rank 9 ... years of work, playing hours each day (even the exploiters and fight clubbers have not reached it yet). We are speaking of powers like Yoda here.

If you want full PvP you join the rebels or imperials and become a member of the special forces. That means you are at any time attackable by faction NPCs of the other faction and PvP players of the other faction. There are also "combatants" (factional PvE) and civilians as well as temporary leave (so friends from all factions can join in groups for guild hunts or raids if they wish - without PvP interference).

Population is lower than before (effect of World of Warcraft, Guild Wars and people leaving because they do not like the recent combat revamp patch of SWG).

We all expect an influx of new players once Episode III is in the cinemas.

Population varies from server to server, with Bria and Europe-Chimaera being the most populated (which does not necessarily mean that they are the best). More important than that is that you should try early to be in an active player city and guild ... then you will have fun and meet many people, no matter how populated the server is in relation to others. You can have thousands of people around you and still be alone otherwise.

I have no idea. A friend recently finished his padawan trials. So becoming a Jedi works. I heard the have to fix some bugs in some of the Jedi Knight trials , but  thats fairly high in the Jedi profession and many dont WANT to be a Jedi Knight anyway (being attackable by the other faction all the time).

There is no place where one check the population of a server except as high/medium/low. The highest population servers have been guestimated to have between 5000 and 8000 players. These days most servers have a LIGHT population at the time I am playing (European on a US server), with Bria and Europe-Chimaera at MEDIUM usually.

Europe-Chimerea does that means its a european server or does it just have that name?.?

And if so what server would you say would be the best American server for most pvp and population

--> Its a European server, with 95 % Europeans playing and Peak times around 6-12 p.m. GMT. Ping is low for Europeans. There is also Farstar and Infinity, also European servers.

--> Hmm, Bria is often quoted as the highest populated and having a lot of "highly competitive PvP" (which was a nice way of saying you might die easily against fad-of-the-month templated legendary-weapons-wielding 100 % PvP fighters. The combat revamp will have levelled the playing field). Bloodfin players often declare their server as the "unofficial PvP server" although i cannot confirm from observation that Bloodfin has more or better PvP than my own server Naritus. I like about Naritus that the community there has by choice avoided most of the worst excesses (and has never been the target for hard core money and item dupers) and being called an average server can be considered a badge of honor IMHO.

OMg Brenthal its dubbie was looking at this game to....i was wondering how gameplay is like do u move by clicks of the mouse or arrow keys...and combat is it like starwars RPg for the systems the name dosnt come to me where utell ur guy to attack and he does all by him self or is it real time combat ??

movement --> arrow keys  (or double mouse button holding down and moving mouse).

Space --> twitch based combat like TIE Fighter solo game

Ground --> You choose specials, toon executes them .. its not a first person shooter.

SWG does not use any elements from the Star Wars RPG.
