Long time lurker, seldom post. I have a few questions about this game. Hopefully some of you can help answer them for me. I have been playing mmos since I beta'd Asheron's Call back in 1998(or was it 99?). I have always like the sense of community and feeling of accomplishment that comes with mmo's from leveling up your character to gain better skills sets, and improved gear. I have played just about ever mmo that has come along, but the ones that stuck for a long period of time were AC, AC2, SWG, AO, GW, CoH, WoW, and LOTRO. I'm sure I left some out, but I probably didnt play them long enough to remember.
I recently purchased a 40" HD TV for my bedroom and a PS3. I have been eyeing this game since they announced it and go to Youtube quite often to view gameplay videos. Knowing what I stated above, and that crafting for me isn't something I am necessairly fond of (in other words not a game breaker for me), should I get this game? It seems alot of people are having fun playing it, and I am one of those people who likes to get into a game the first month it is released. Do you guys think this product has staying power? Is there enough end game content to keep me busy for at least a month or two once I reach cap till they update?
Anything else you guys might be able to tell me would be greatly appreciated.

If nothing else, it has at least as much longevity potential as any other game you'd get for the ps3, and has the potential to have much more.
Game is crazy fun and graphics are top notch for visual/performance ratio and would look great on that TV I'm sure.
I understand why people are wary of dropping money on new Mmorpgs- I've been burned so many times by cheap thrown together games hoping to grab cash at release based on hype alone. This isn't one of those games though.
Holden do you play on a PS3 and if so what server would you recommend?
Quick question:
I've read here and there on different forums that there's no sub fee for DCUO?
What's the deal with that? Because if that's true, I'll buy it and check it out.
I'm not truely all that interested in DCUO, but I do enjoy the "new player" feeling I get when experiencing a new MMO. Especially with no monthly fee, so I won't be too bummed if it sucks (again)
yes there is a 15 $ a month subscription fee,
most people's subscriptions will be ending soon as they bought the game early january, the REAL opinions of the game will start popping up then.
yes its like an mmo, its full of go here kill X amount of Y and come back, repeat until hit level cap 30.
What is different? its super easy, buttan mashan action, like a beat'em up would be for old school PS1 games
Lots of people love this fact, they are tired of the simple healer/tank/dps roles where you sit watching autoattacks all day long, this game is more responsive to your actions, like you can clobber a guy and he goes flying across the screen
everyone says the endgame is bad, and ive seen many posts of "i've hit level 30, now what?" , basically youre expected to grind for gear like WOW , for endgame, and theres a heavy grind
to sum it up some more: button mashing brawler type combat, easy to reach level 30 cap in a couple days, not heavy on gear or stat balancing, more emphasis on combat rather than class or gear
anyway if you decide to get it id appreciate you pm me a buddy code cause i want to give this a try too
No thanks. Although bashing enemies and having them fly across the screen sounds kinda cool, I just can't picture it being cool when there's 50 people all doing the same thing. Other than that, I don't think any of it's other features sound that attractive to me.
Again, If it was no monthly fee I'd try but I just am not into DC comics enough I guess :-
Oh well, I hope you all enjoy! And kick the crap out of eachother
No sorry I play on the PC. I'd just go for a highly populated one if I were you, and go pvp if you don't mind getting ganked occasionally but like the extra spice it adds to gameplay with random fights.
Also to the other guy there are more moves than just clicking. You have powers and you can block and dodge and everyone has CC abilities, so it's a bit more involved than just clicking, and combat is certainly faster than any other MMO. Everyone also has fast travel powers and you can pick up and throw things. In fact, a lot of people have said they've had some trouble with the combat because they're used to clicking on ability every few seconds and not much happening.
DCU is a perfect filler till Rift.
Yea.. definitely lots of combos... (click and hold, click x10, etc based on weapon skills unlocked). I think that the part that shines is the superhero powers (the legendary stuff). Heck some of the cool stuff you get for your movement is awesome (dive bomb for flight, zip line and the like for acrobatics, etc). It's the LITTLE things that differentiate you from every other joe-schmo out there that I get interested in. Personally I'm a Dual-Wielding Fire guy who uses the word of power to keep AOE stuns on people. I can take down 3-4 people of similar levels. 1-2 of 5+ levels and 1 of over 10 lvls (thus far). It's all about playstyle though. Even that toon had a nublet 5 lvls below me, snuff me cause I wasn't paying attention to my breaks/blocks.
