gender locked characters?

crunchybackcrunchyback Member Posts: 44

Just curious, before i start the download.

I notice 3 characters, one dude and two chicks.  Is this changable in any way?  I have issues with playing female characters, and seeing how 1 out of 3 characters is shown as male, im not really interested in that one character.

The genders are fixed for each character. You cannot change

Among the many issues I have with this game is gender locking the character types.

I don't have a problem with gender locked characters, but I do think it should be an even number for each.

I am thinking of trying this game.  If we are stuck with a gender, I would rather be looking at a chicks butt all the time then a guys butt.  LOL

    But that is me.  ;-)

If you spend that much time looking at your characters butt you might not play the game so well. :)

For me it is one of the earliest turnoffs for a game. Gender locking characters needs to go.

The games fun factor far outweighs the gender lock in my opinion. :p

No and it's the dumbest crap a developer could do. Why should a certain class be restricted to a gender? Thus is why this game is a fail.

Ya its an incredibly dumb thing to do, i see no logic in that at all.

If you look at the character screen you will see 2 males in the backgound one a big fighter is coming soon and a 2nt looks like a elf archer. I think this a Asiaen thing with female mages and the like .

From the time I played I would say the fun factor, IMO, outweighs nothing. The game was boring and simple and the random dungeons lacking in randomness or fun. All in all I found Vindictus to be worth what I paid.

Asian thing or not, tailoring the game for the community you aim it at is a smart thing to do. For myself limiting my class choices the way they have was the first of many things I found wrong with this game.

It works with the game's story, you aren't playing as yourself, you are playing as a one of the characters in that story. Atleast that's how it was supposed to be, I have yet to notice any differences story-wise from one character to the next though.

I don't see the big deal about gender locks anyways, I guess i'm used to it since I play single player console games mostly, afterall you don't see anyone complaining about Mario being only male for example.

If gender locking is such an issue for you than I think you might need to expand your gaming library, it's not a new concept. I get that it seems lazy these days but it still shouldn't be a game breaker and cause any game with it to get an automatic pass, like so many people here do so often, it doesn't change any of the gameplay or it's fun factor either way (talking about all games in general here).

Would you pass up on one of your favorite games of all time simply because the character you play as was a certain gender and already had a backstory to go with it? I'll never understand how some people will not even try something out if it's gender locked, just imagine all the things you'd have missed out on if that was how you viewed games..

In MMO and RPGs these days gender locks are fewer. Mario is a poor example at best. When having people play an MMORPG and forcing them to ROLE PLAY a character as a gender they do not want to role play as you as the game company will LOSE players. Gender locking does NOTHING to add to the game. It is lazy .

Vindictus would suck without gender lock.

    Dont play it :)

I have to agree. Gender lock is one issue I have with Vindictus, but removing it would not improve what is a pretty poor game.
