Downloading the game right now to check it out, but I'm wondering what kind of costs Allods online will eventually rack up if I wanted to play it like I do WoW.
So, if I limited myself to a monthly budget of $15, the same as WoW's monthly subscription, what would I be able to do? Would I be able to raid to full potential, or PvP? Would I be severely limited in all aspects of the game?

If you put down $15 a month, you'll be just fine. That will be plenty to get you all the luxury items (mounts, extra bag space). You don't have to pay for some items like incense, holy charms, and exp scrolls since you can get them free now from doing daily quests, but if you want to save time, then you can and they're cheap if you buy them from CS too. When you get to a high level you'll want to look into getting runes for your gear to do end-game raid. With $15 budget, you'll have no problem at all.
Why wouldn't you just play something like WoW if you're going to spend $15 a month anyway? I played the game for awhile and didn't get the impression that it was nearly as good as WoW in terms of gameplay or content.
Not a WoW fanboi, but really just wondering.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
$15 a month is more than enough, until you get to endgame, then decent runes are going to cost you several hundreds; if not thousands of dollars. Granted nobody is forcing you to be competitive but if you're going to spend the money you might as well spend it elsewhere. No matter how much money you throw at it, you'll always feel like you could and should be spending more, and more, and more...
So, in short, $15 a month will buy you what you'll really want to get in the beginning, but eventually it'll just buy you the feeling of inadequacy.
Waiting for Guild Wars 2, and maybe SWTOR until that time...
I'm the type of player that doens' t like the feeling of being forced to pay money per month and that's feeling you get when you play a p2p. At least with f2p, you have option of spending that same amount, or maybe less or more, but at least you don't feel the need to have to pay and have to play to get your money's worth during that month.

The issue as I understand it is that with Allods, you are forced to pay money if you actually want to play instead of just staring at your screen waiting for the death penalty to go away. If you can pay less than $15 a month then it would make some sense, but not at the $15 a month. Especially not for more than $15 a month.
The OP is planning on paying $15 a month regardless...for $15 a month I haven't seen anything in Allods that would compare to WoW. Allods is fantastic for free or nearly free, but for $15 a month it's a rip off. The difference is startup cost. Even then, I'd say WoW wins. Hands down, no contest. I don't even particularly like WoW; just got tired of playing but I'd still say WoW gives a far greater game experience than Allods for the $ spent.

So I guess as long as you don't want to be competitive at endgame, $15 month will be more than enough.
What that other guy is saying, is at endgame, if you are going to pay, you might as well pay big, because paying small is just a waste of money. You are going to feel a similar kind of pressure at end game, but instead of feeling you need to play, you'll feel the need to spend more money to make what you spent before worth it.
Honestly, premium Lotro is better for you. $15 dollars a month will be more than enough to get what you want, and you have it for as long as the game exists.
15$ month wont get you shit from gpotato cash shops....extremely overpriced and well....gpotato is gala-net and i believe one of the worst money grubbing companies out there
For $15 a month, you could play a better game.
I cant understand why ANOYONE would spend AAA monthly sub costs on free to play games that dont have near the cusotmer support or quality control or effort even put into them??? boggles the mind...
Because the game is actually good, innovative yet very familiar and has tons of potential as a P2P game. It brought a breath of fresh air to me when it comes to avatar based MMOs.
However, as I suspected, the F2P cash shop mechanic ended up being the downfall of this game.
Playing: EvE, Warhammer free unlimited trial, Allods Online
Played: Anarchy Online, WoW, Warhammer, AoC, Ryzom. Aion
Strongly Recommend: Ryzom, EvE, Allods Online
the content quality is maybe 60% that of say world of warcraft. With that being the benchmark these cash shop games try to aspire to, its a good attempt, but why would I spend $15 a month on a game they spend a fraction of the time, money, and effort to develope when compared to world of warcraft? Still doesnt make a lick of sense.
You don't have to pay $15 a month to be competitive. Ask around the main city of each faction, you'll find end-game players who haven't purchased anything from the Item Shop and farmed all their items with in-game gold.
Put the time and effort and you'll get what you want.
Present WoW is a joke caterred to the idiots. The classes have been dumbed down, now the talent tree customization is dumbed down and the PvP has been weak for a while. The game is boring.
Allods hit where WoW started to lag. Unique classes, talent customization, more challenge, World PvP and new ideas. Additionally, the graphic style is nice, the game is well designed and it feels polished. I would have gladly pain $15/month for it and I think it would have done well.

Did Allods cease to exist or something? You could go pay $15 a month for it right now. Or more.

This sentence shows everything I was gona say, good job lol
If im correct, the game is still under beta, means even if they accidentally deleted your account, they dont have any responsibility.
But since mmorpg.com marked this game status as released, im kinda not so sure
Allods is NOT in beta, don't believe a cent that they spew towards you. The fact is, the game launched awhile ago and simply leaving the "beta" tag on is a very OVERLY used tactic by the Asian Pay-To-Win Market. They do this so they can claim amnesty from everything that ISN'T in the game "yet".
Or, more to the point, they're doing what almost EVERY AAA MMO is doing nowadays except they're actually being honest about it. Regardless, 9 Dragons did this up until they were canceled and they were, at least for awhile, raking in the dough.

Having a different opinion must mean you're a troll.
Don't put 15 bucks a month into this game. If you want something from the cash shop, only put in enough money to buy that item.
For games such as these there should be 9th rating - cash shop...
IZI MODO?! Ha-ha-ha!
What you're forgetting to mention here is that quite a few of these people have been cheating their way through surveys to get themselves truckloads of GPots. Since now it is getting harder and harder to cheat that way, the only thing standing between you and having a chance to compete with them, is the requirement to spend several thousands of dollars in the cash shop to obtain good enough runes.
Waiting for Guild Wars 2, and maybe SWTOR until that time...
For 15$ a month one could become a VIP member of Lord of the Rings Online which gives you more bang for the buck than any other F2P game out there.
This game lacks the quality it would need to make it as a P2P game. Don't go comparing this game to P2P games. While it's not the worst F2P, it certainly doesn't stand a chance in hell of making it as a P2P game. Check out the competition in P2P and you'll see why soon enough.

Boggles my mind too.
Heck, even if I play only 4 hours a week, that subscription would have been less than $1 per hour of entertainment. I think that's a much better way of measuring costs for us than say, $10 per inventory bag, $5 per incense pack, $20 for runes, $2 for exp increase, I don't know, virtual goods simply don't look tangible enough to me in any way when the developers have full control over them, the server and my account. And this pricing can stack up to obscene amounts the more you want to play more easily and efficiently.
And if you're no longer having fun in WoW, then that's another story, as it wouldn't matter if it's F2P or P2P.
coming from a player that has played allods off and on over the past year I can tell you right now move elsewhere. This game has a unique graphics style with some armor sets looking better then most pay to play games. But with that being said this game is terrible once you get past 20. You will spend days and months grinding to end game running dailys and pretty much wasting your life away on a boring repetive end game. The pvp is subpar to any pay to play games you will find on the market , runes determine who wins and they can cost several hundreds of dollars to obtain.
The selling point of this game is the astral content and pvp zones which by far are pretty much empty. Mid game pvp consists of going to the holy lands doing pvp or quests then a high level player gets called end and follows you around hoping you use your flag of war by hitting guards or quest npcs. Gpot does absolutely nothing at all for this game but throw stupid events like draw an avatar to give players wings or some stupid fluff items. This game at primetime has low population servers on all sides as well and keep in mind most of those players are people trying out the first few levels.
This game had the potential to do something big and blew it hard and most people will never come back including me. Making players buy iitems like charms to keep your gear from getting cursed on death and incese to make you actually be able to kill a equal level mob is rather pathetic even for free to play. The best thing I can tell you about allods is this , the first 15 levels you will find a breath of fresh air and fun if your looking for something new. After that is when allods shows the player what its all really about money money money. Move elsewhere honestly and just let this game die and it get pulled. Maybe then Gpot will get what it deserves.
Quality wise I think it's top of the heap(ignoring freemium). I wouldn't really consider how much $15 can get you, but rather consider how much you have to spend to get a similar experience.
They have double xp this week (till 01/26/11) so I'll play till I feel hindered. I remember I did the quest for the bag in beta and it was a nuisance. I'll just have to take more trips to the vendor
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
