TERA: Murmuri the Slayer - The Tall Tale of a Popori Hero by Bridget McKenna, Writer

We`ve received another piece of original fiction that we`re happy to post here at MMORPG.com coming to us from the team over at TERA and writer, Bridget McKenna. Read the story, check out the screen shots and let us know what you think about it over in the forums!

Gather ’round, little ones, and bring your ears. I’ll tell you the tale of Murmuri the slayer. Yes, yes, I know many of you have heard it before, but who could ever grow weary of the story of a popori hero, fearsome monsters, and a huge sword?

I wonder if anyone else saw the picture on the front and immediately said, "Awww."

This was a fun story, and really... with the game bashing?  I know it's to much to ask you to do that in the GW2 forums, but still, could you go do that in the GW2 forums?  This game and it's "lore" sound like a lot of fun.  Also, cutting the heads off of demons to keep in practice doesn't sound very "sissy asian game(s)".

Writing  in the style of someone telling the tale to a very young child , as a simple childs story puts me off , it doesn't endear me to the character, but then I'm not a fan of these cutesy anthropomorphic races. Hope we see something a little more mature next.

When I see pictures of a Popori, I want to put them in a cage with wood shavings for a floor, a water bottle and an exercise wheel.

Tera sounds like it has some great combat mechanics in it, but I can't stand aspects of the art style and character design. The Amani look really cool though.

I want to take him seriously but I'm too busy wanting to hug his face to notice his giant sword.

i love that they were so lazy when making the story they didn't take the npc out. It's like yeah the npcs on our game just don't care of they live or die. popo- for poop amd ri for ingrediants in bread so as an american i get that his name means poopy bread?

Also I like how he looks like a white ewok but it says hes a child so how tall are the adults? Ohh the exact same, size my bad.

I think the only reason they make small fluffy cute characters in games is because you are that much more pissed when your giant muscle devil horned looking dude gets smacked down by one.

I don't think he's still considered a child. The first picture is obviously of him full grown while the 3rd is of him as a child. Check out the sword to body ratio on each picture, he's obviously much bigger in the first than last picture.

I think it's a cute story ( awww), done in the tall tales style of, say, Paul Bunyon stories. I mean he was born, stood up and said," My name is Murmuri?". It's just a story-telling style and not meant to be logical, meant to be over-the-top.

I love poporis. There are soooo many players whose only reason when the time comes to choose  a new race is cos they are big, full of muscles and steroids.

    - Hey look at me I am mean and green, I am the....

And then his head hits the floor as a popori berserker finishes his death move.

    :)

Btw the asuran in gw2 are cute as well. Don´t forget that.

This was a class story, you are giving GW fans a bad name mouthing off at any other MMO there is an article about. I had asked before 'where are the Terra and GW2 stories?' good to see Terra doing some. Lets see some stories for GW2 as well!

asian sissy games might make me even more furiated than watching bunch of emokids talk about such "metal" bands as "emo sevenfold" or "emo for my valentine",
